Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

Jenna, Jaclyn, and Amanda F at Bandits-Wings game 2006
This week, we take a look at a BvB player who not only spent time with the Buffalo Jills, but with the Buffalo Bandettes as well. Amanda F joined the Jills in 2001 and spent 3 seasons on the sidelines at Ralph Wilson Stadium before taking a few years off and then joining the Bandettes along with one of her Jills squadmates, Marissa D to spend 2006-07 dancing at HSBC Arena. She wasn't done by any means nor should she have been seeing as how she's been dancing since the age of 5. In 2010, she answered the call to be one of several Buffalo Jills alumni joining the Jills and the Bandettes in Toronto for the huge halftime performance with the rock group Hinder. She followed that up the following spring back at HSBC Arena with several other Buffalo Bandettes alumni for a combined performance with the Bandettes as well as their own performance. This will be Amanda's 3rd year with Blondes Vs Brunettes and we'll hopefully see her back playing this year as she had to sit out last year's contest with an injury. Away from the public spotlight, she's a Histology Technician with a nursing degree and is working on her Master's in nursing. It's said that the health care industry is a strong one in Buffalo and there's nowhere that's more in evidence when you see beautiful intelligent women like Amanda there along with other Jills alumni like Jill R (2007-08), Ayeshia (2007-09), Rebecca, (2011), as well as Bandette Noelle. You can donate to the BvB through Amanda at  http://act.alz.org/site/TR/BvB/NY-WesternNewYork?px=6266654&pg=personal&fr_id=2194

Jills Calendar shoot update, some Jr Jills additions, and BvB Golf Tournament planned

First up is an update from a calendar shoot done last Thursday at the Ralph. While the rest of the squad was in the Fieldhouse at practice, FCI took 4 of the vets into the stadium for their portions of the 2012-13 Calendar Shoot. Involved in this shoot are co-captain Lisa, captains Omarlla and Valerie, and 4th year vet Courteney. See the video at http://video214.com/play/Ekk6wt5QAslwor0Wy2oPrg/s/dark
To add to the Jr Jills, there will be a Rochester group for a performance prior to the Bills' training camp practice on August 11th with workshops scheduled at Growney Stadium on August 8th and 10th to learn the routine. Go to http://buffalojills.com/JrJills.php and click on the Rochester Tab
Also, a Jr Jills program to be performed prior to the Bills-Seahawks game in Toronto on December 16th is in the works as well. Go to the Toronto tab for info to be posted on that with updates including workshop dates planned for the week of December 10th.

On July 10th, Brennan's Bowery Bar in Williamsville's annual Golf Tournament is once again sponsoring the Blondes Vs Brunettes and their fight against Alzheimer's. $95 covers lunch at Brennan's, golf at Rothland's Golf Course in Akron, carts, a 6-pack of your favorite beverage, a t-shirt, and a strip steak dinner back at Brennan's as well as photos and games. Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

Stephanie W, Aimee, and Hilary at the NFL Cheerleader Playoffs viewing party at Bada Bing
This week, we take a look back at Jills Alumnus Aimee G as part of our Photos of The Week series. Aimee spent 6 seasons with the Jills, the final 2 as a captain. In 2006, her first as a captain, she went to the Pro Bowl after a season that also saw her and Omarlla represent the Buffalo Jills in the NFL Cheerleader Playoffs...with a sweep of the events in the 1st round of the competition. That 1st round included an event that involved some swimming, something that Aimee gave Omarlla some lessons on just prior to the competition. She also showed off something else at a pair of events in 2006...a heck of a singing voice as she belted out a few tunes onstage at the FHM Release and the Calendar Release Parties. She made a 1-time comeback when she joined other alumni, the Bandettes, and the 2010 Jills in Toronto as part of a major halftime show involving the group Hinder.

Kirsten, Chelsea, Krista, Stephanie O, Lauren K, and Carissa at the NLL All-Star Game
From the Bandettes is a photo taken at the NLL All-Star Game. In their 21st season in the league, the Buffalo Bandits finally got to host the game and as evidenced by the fan turnout and involvement, the league has to be wanting the game in Buffalo on a regular basis. They also got the benefit of having the NLL's premier dance squad performing at the game. Shown posing for a photo just prior to pregame are Kirsten, Chelsea, Krista, Stephanie O, Lauren K, and Carissa.

Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

Jills Alumni Tammy, Amanda F, Danielle, and Christina B at 2011 BvB Kickoff Party
This week, we take a look at our first BvB Jills Alumnus for the summer. Danielle H spent 5 seasons with the Buffalo Jills, with a career spanning 1998-2002, making the cover of the 2001-02 Buffalo Jills Swimsuit Calendar. After all that time, she hasn't lost her looks by any means. Even non-BvB fans got to see that briefly as she was one of the many Jills Alumni who joined the Buffalo Jills at the Bills-Eagles game for a HUGE pre-game performance. This will be her 4th year with the BvB organization and in the very first game, she wound up winning the Brunette MVP Award with a TD and a few other big plays.
You can donate to the Alzheimer's Association of WNY through Danielle at http://act.alz.org/site/TR/BvB/NY-WesternNewYork?px=6276091&pg=personal&fr_id=2194
Marissa D, Danielle, and Amanda F at 2006 Bandits-Swarm
Chrissy and Stephanie O
From the Bandettes is a photo from the Bandits-Mammoth game back in March. Shown posing for a photo just before heading out for pregame are Chrissy and Stephanie O. Chrissy's second year on the squad saw her become a lot more outgoing and talkative than her rookie year. Stephanie was outgoing from the start in her rookie year and finished up the season by winning the NLL Girl of The Year Championship!

BvB Little Purple Dress Fundraiser tonight!

75 Blondes & Brunettes
3 Football Games
Played $110,000 raised locally

Buffalo, NY………. The Blondes vs. Brunettes Committee has drafted their 2012 Football Team! Now they are ready to show the ladies off, all dressed up, in Little Purple Dresses in support of BvB's battle against Alzheimer's disease.

Meet and Greet Fundraiser - Friday June 15, 2012, 6- 9 p.m. Soho Burger Bar, 64 W. Chippewa Street in Buffalo.

Gracious appreciation to sponsors: Bangs Salon, Capital Management, Certo Brothers, Dent Neurologic, Hamister Group, Kiss 98.5 and Toshiba.

Buffalo Blondes vs. Brunettes (BvB) - is an event at which Buffalo and WNY’s most prominent young leaders come together to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s and raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association WNY Chapter in support of their mission to eliminate Alzheimer's disease. The concept is built around the main event, a flag football game in which the two participating teams are comprised of women, playing on the age-old rivalry between blondes and brunettes.

About Blondes vs. Brunettes History - In the fall of 2005, the first Blondes vs. Brunettes event was held in Washington D.C. Organized by a group of young women with a personal connection to the cause, the event quickly became a success and has since expanded. In 2009, Buffalo was the 5th city to join the fight, and raised over $110,000 since. $75,000 is the BvB 2012 Event Goal.
BvB events have taken place for the last several years in Dallas, Chicago, New York, and Washington, DC. BvB continues to grow with San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami and Denver joining in 2012. Together, they have raised well over a million dollars to put an end to Alzheimer's.

Buffalo Event Chairs - Tracey Callisto (event founder) and Kristin Crandall.

Miss Buffalo Lonna McCary goes for the state title on Thursday

We have a championship drought, Buffalo! Not since Maryalice Demler brought home the hardware in 1990 has a reigning Miss Buffalo earned the title of Miss New York. Seems a little suspicious, given the fine crop of lovely and talented women we have in the Queen City.
The current Miss Buffalo crown rests on the accomplished head of Lonna McCary, a 22-year-old Dean’s List student at Hilbert College and former Buffalo Jill whose passions include rifle-shooting and law enforcement.

Jills Calendar Update and...Miss New York?

This past week, FCI was shooting in Wilson, NY and, as they've been doing, have a video up showing a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot. This week, the shoot featured co-captain Loren, 4th year vet Alyssa B, 2nd year vet Kristina and rookies Dana, Jayanti, Emmy and 1 other whose name I'm not sure of. See it at http://video214.com/play/Aes1srZ2C5grheNuI2qTEw/s/dark

Also, the reigning Miss Buffalo, 2008 Buffalo Jills Alumnus Lonna M, is heading to Staten Island next weekend to compete for the title of Miss New York and is she wins that, will be competing for Miss America in January! You can actually vote for her to get her an automatic spot in the Top 10 at http://www.missny.org/vote/index.html
Best of luck to Lonna this weekend!

Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

Eileen, Christina, Jess, Heather, and Amanda F at 2009-10 Comedy Show
Jessica, or Jess, as she's known to her friends, spent 2007-2009 on the sidelines of Ralph Wilson Stadium and was known for a great smile that was as big as her petite frame. Her beauty is only secondary to her personality, which made her an absolute joy to photograph. She followed up her 2nd season in 2008 with a trip to Hawaii for the Pro Bowl. If there's only one word a person could use to describe her, that word would be adorable. Her smile and personality are infectious and could ease the darkest of moods.  She spent 7 years in cheerleading and 16 years in dance, including a stint with the Russian Moscow Ballet in the Nutcracker and that was all before her 3 years with the Jills.

Danielle and Krista at Bandits-Rock
This week's photo from the Bandettes comes from the Opener against the Toronto Rock back in January. Shown posing for a photo are two 2nd year vets, Danielle and Krista. Danielle is likely calling it a career with a wedding coming up soon and Krista's future plans with the Bandettes are up in the air.

A Jills Calendar update and a Jills alumnus as a TopCat

First off, regarding the Jills, FCI Photography is already hard at work on the calendar with photo shoot at Woodlawn Beach last week. Included in the 1st part of this shoot were 2nd year vets Melissa and Kelly, and rookies Maria, Alyssa V, Megan M, and Chelsea. See a behind-the-scenes look at it at http://animoto.com/play/trAhQklzUVghArHLGhjkog
The 2nd part of the Woodlawn Beach shoot features co-captain Emily and rookies Kelsey D and Gabrielle F. See the video at http://video214.com/play/xXDWWVvwVnL3hmvzYVMuoA/s/dark

In the world of Jills alumni, several of whom will be getting some extra notice this summer, we have a recent Jills alumnus joining another squad. Ashley W spent 2008 and a portion of 2009 dancing on the sidelines at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Well, after she moved away over a year ago, she settled in to her new home and now is a brand new member of the Carolina TopCats and will be cheering on the Panthers at Bank of America Stadium this fall!
While we definitely miss not only her beauty but her warm and genuine personality in Buffalo, we wish her the best in Carolina!

Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

Sarah, Jamie F, Emily, Julie P, Eileen, Stephanie G, and Kristine L at 2002 Pats Game
Our first entry for this summer's Photos of The Week series features the Jills alumnus who was perhaps most responsible for this site's creation. Julie P spent the 1997-2002 seasons cheering on the sidelines at Rich/Ralph Wilson Stadium including some time as a captain. Well-spoken and classy, Julie set an example on how to behave as a Jill and how to treat people as a person. During the 2001 season, the Bills' website did their own version of the Jill of The Week series and after selecting one, fans could submit questions to them. One question asked Julie how the girls kept their spirits up during a rough season and this was her response: "When things are bad, that is usually when people refer to us. We have more eyes and attention on us when the team is not doing well. It is easy to smile when the fans are smiling back at you and are enjoying the game and having fun with the Jills." Last year, Julie made a brief return to the sidelines when the Jills called in over 100 alumni to join the 2011 squad for a special pregame performance before the Eagles game.
Julie P (on the right) with Lindsey and several Jills alumni at last year's Alumni Open Practice
Chrissy, Beth, and Jessica
This week's photo from the Bandettes comes from the 1st Annual Dance Fair and Expo where both the Bandettes and the Jills were on hand to perform. Shown posing for a photo are Chrissy, Beth, and Jessica. Chrissy and Jessica both finished up their 2nd seasons on the Bandettes while Beth spent 5 seasons as a Bandette before switching over to the Jills for the 2011 NFL season.
