Buffalo Jill of The Week Lisa

At long last, the 2012-13 Buffalo Jill of The Week series kicks off and we start with 6th year vet Lisa. Found on Val's line on gamedays between Nicole S and Megan, she's one of those girls who people just gravitate towards and not just because of her beauty. She's frequently at the center of anything that's going on and she doesn't even try to be. Whenever there's fun to be had, she tries to include as many people as she can. She has a kind word for everyone and even comes up with endearing nicknames for some of the people she's fond of. As loved as she is by anyone who knows her, perhaps the girl on the squad she's closest with is Valerie. Before the two of them got named co-captain and captain, they made a point to try out together, even with matching numbered outfits. When Valerie came down to visit with me at a Bandits game this spring, she told me to guess who her co-captain would be this fall. With the big smile on her face, I knew it had to be Lisa. You can read more about Lisa at http://buffalojills.com/profile.php?PID=88 Lisa's secondary photo comes from the 1st Annual Dance Fair and Expo held last spring which featured dozens of dance companies and schools in addition to the Buffalo Bandettes and the Buffalo Jills. Shown posing for a photo are Jacki and Lisa.

From the Bandettes comes a photo from the Bandits-Stealth game back in February. Before the girls headed out for pregame, a few of the girls posed for photos. Shown are Chrissy, Stephanie O, and Jessica. Tryouts are coming up October 6th and 7th and we'll see if these 3 are all back and ready to dance as the Bandits try to win the 2013 NLL Championship.

After finally getting to know the layout of the 2012-13 Buffalo Jills Swimsuit Calendar, the Buffalo Jill of The Week schedule has finally been compiled. For those unfamiliar with the Jill of The Week series, as I'm sure a few rookies are part of that group, it's a way we give each girl a chance to shine on her own a little. These girls work hard all spring to make the squad and then work even harder to get ready for the season and in recognition of that, they each deserve some individual accolades. Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

Rachael, Jessica D, and Kristen M at 2006 Kid's Day Game
This week, while we still wait to get a look at the 2012-2013 Buffalo Jills Swimsuit Calendar, we take a look at a Jills alum who's definitely had a lot of success since leaving the squad. Jessica D is a girl who anyone would've been nuts to cut as, right from the start at 2006 tryouts, she showed herself to be poised and well-spoken in addition to drop-dead gorgeous. After spending 2 seasons as a member of the Jills Ambassador Squad, Jessica added a lot more modeling to her resume in addition to her day job in the computer science field. She's won awards and been featured with Hawaiian Tropic, Tropic Beauty, Maxim, and even placed in the 2011 Arnold Amateur Bikini Contest. That's not even the tip of the iceberg though or even the biggest awards. Anyone who's played the Price Is Right video game has seen her looking better than any of "Barker's Beauties" did and she even landed the cover of the 2011-12 Bikini USA Swimsuit Calendar.

From the Bandettes comes a photo from the 2nd home game against the Toronto Rock, a game that featured a guest performance by the Toronto Rock Cheerleaders in addition to the Bandettes. Shown posing for the camera are the reigning NLL Girl of The Year, Bandettes rookie Stephanie O and 2nd year vet Chrissy. After tryouts October 6th and 7th, we'll see who populates the Bandettes roster and maybe one of those girls, maybe Chrissy, will land the 2013 NLL Girl of The Year Title.

From Laura's show, she continues with part 3 of her look into how to approach women. Courteney and Alyssa B help her talk about misconceptions as well as double standards.

The Jills at the 2012 Bills Home Opener

After last week's loss at the hands of the Jets, fans had mixed predictions on Sunday's home opener against the Kansas City Chiefs, the team the Bills opened with last season with a 41-7 win in Arrowhead Stadium. Behind a big rushing day from C.J. Spiller and a dominant defensive performance led by DTs Kyle Williams and Marcelll Dareus, the Bills thoroughly handled the Chiefs with a 35-17 win that wasn't nearly as close as the score indicated. The Jills, unlike the slow-moving lines getting into the stadium, were also bringing it all game long.
I got inside the stadium as the Jills were finishing up their pregame perforance and started right to work on getting photos as Rita and Omarlla led the way setting up Stampede Row.

With paratroopers coming into the stadium with flags during the National Anthem, the Jills retreated up the tunnel to regroup to come out for line shots and the game.

Here's a rough amateur video of the Jills' 3rd quarter break dance as well.

Next up for the Buffalo Jills, there will be a few on hand tonight at WBBZ Studios at the Eastern Hills Mall for the taping of the Fred Jackson show at 6:30. They'll next take the field when the Bills play host to the Patriots on September 30th.

Pics from the 4th Annual BvB Buffalo Game

Hard to believe that 3 years ago, Buffalo was just about to become the 5th city to stage a Blondes Vs Brunettes powderpuff football game. Now, they are 1 of 31 cities in the United States with an annual game all with the purpose of raising funds to help fight Alzheimer's Disease.
Emmy and Ashley with balloons to be released
I arrived just a little while before the team came out of the locker room to play and was greeted by a pair of rookie Buffalo Jills, Emmy and Ashley, who were selling balloons to be released in memory of loved ones lost to Alzheimer's disease. Soon, teams were introduced with Jills alum Jenn C representing the blondes from the sidelines and Danielle, Tammy, and Julie playing for the brunettes.
Danielle and Julie waving to the camera
The game is billed as a powderpuff flag football game but, like every year, there does wind up being some actual tackling involved. Danielle, at WR, wasn't the recipient of any of those tackles but CBs Julie and Tammy were certainly dishing them out. The game itself ended in a 16-0 win for the blondes, their 1st win in the series in Buffalo which led me to one conclusion...Jenn C is a lucky charm since she played for the Brunettes the last 2 years when they won and now the Blondes win after she joins them (redheads can play for either team). If there's ever betting on these games, I'll put my money on whichever team she's affiliated with...lol. But in all seriousness, it was a hard-fought game a lot closer than the score indicated. One of the things they instituted in these games is a special bit of help to the team that raised more money for Alzheimer's. The team raising the higher amount of money gets to attempt a FG at halftime and the blondes made that FG the first points in the game after a scoreless first half.

When these ladies get together to play, they always have lots of support from friends, family, and, in the case of the Jills alumni, former squadmates like Jills alumni Erin J (1998-2002), Michelle M (1998-2000) and Korinne (2004-06). In the end, while the scoreboard showed that the Blondes won 16-0, the real winners were the many people in Western NY afflicted with Alzheimer's as this year's BvB organization raised over $63,000 for the Alzheimer's Association of Western NY.
