Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

This week's photos from the Jills come from the 8th Annual Buffalo Jills Golf Tournament held recently at Williamsville's Westwood Country Club.

Brianne, DJ Jickster
Our first photo was taken while the golfers were just starting to check in and features 4th year vet Brianne with 97Rock's DJ Jickster. Longtime Jills fans should remember Brianne well as she spent the 2005-07 seasons with the Jills dancing on Omarlla's line and, no surprised, she'll be dancing there again. She actually almost came back for the 2008 season but wasn't feeling well at tryouts and took that as a sign to take a year off at least. Thankfully, she missed it too much to stay away for good and, as you can see in the photo, I wasn't the only one happy to see her back. Jickster, as everyone should know, is a DJ at 97Rock, one of the primary sponsors of the Jills, and is the Jills' 2nd biggest fan. He's even joked that he won't do an appearance without some Jills there as well.

Natalie, Emily, Jill, Jaclyn
The 2nd photo features 4 of our beautiful rookie dancers on the Jills. We've already introduced you to Natalie and Emily and joining them in this pic are Jill and Jaclyn. With Michelle's move to the Ambassador squad this year, the dance squad was in need of someone with some great gymnastic abilities and as she showed everyone at the Golf Tourney, Jill fits that need extremely well. In fact, based on what I saw on Monday, Jill seems to have more natural gymnastic ability than anyone since Kaitlin M (2005-07) who backflipped from one side of the room to the other at Jills tryouts in 2006. Jaclyn is not your typical blonde bombshell. She comes across as pretty mature for her age and didn't stay close to home for college like a lot of girls, choosing instead to get away for a few years to Pittsburgh where she still got the small city feel but obviously she'd have to come home to be able to cheerlead since the Steelers don't have a squad even though they were one of the first NFL teams with cheerleaders.

Alexis, Amanda Z
From the Bandettes, our Photo of The Week actually comes with a bit of sadness involved. In a photo taken before the April game against Toronto, we have Alexis and Amanda smiling for the camera. The sadness comes from the fact that the camera-loving Alexis and the gymnastically talented Amanda have each told me they won't be returning for the 2011 season, having moved away. Thankfully we still have plenty of memories of these two and Amanda has a championship she can look back fondly on from her rookie season. These two will definitely be missed but their departure will give a few more rookie hopefuls a better shot at winning a spot on the 2011 Bandettes squad at tryouts in early October. Stay tuned for details on that.

Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

This week, we take a look at the Jills ambassadors with our Photos of The Week. In order to see these young ladies on gameday, you need to make sure you visit the 97Rock and 103.3 The Edge Tailgate parties prior to the game. In addition to meeting the Jills, buying calendars, and getting your photo with these beautiful young ladies, the staff at the tailgate parties are usually running some games or something worth checking out as well. You can also meet a pair of Jills ambassadors in the Fieldhouse as well where they're meeting with fans as well as playing a bit of Family Feud with the fans. After that, those two will be circulating the stadium with Billy Buffalo much of the game.
The 1st photo features most of the Jills ambassador veterans who have returned to the squad. This photo was taken at the Jills Open Practice and features, from left to right, Ambassador Squad co-captain Amanda F, 2nd year vets Ruby, Lindsay, and Alyssa, and 4th year vets Laura and Vincenza. Laura, as everyone should know, has her own mini TV series on ESPN2 called Redfield Redzone and Vincenza returns to the Ambassador Squad this year after a year on Omarlla's dance line last season. Not pictured here are Ambassador Squad Captain Keisha, 2nd year vet Courteney, and 3rd year vet Michelle, who switched over to the Ambassador Squad about a month ago, much to the delight of her fellow ambassadors and to the dismay of the dancers.

The 2nd photo features most of the rookies from the Jills 2010 Ambassador Squad with only Meghan missing from the photo. From left to right we have Sara S, Sara J, Gina, Jessica, and Taryn. I don't know Sara S that well yet but Sara J is the latest in a long line who can only be described as persistent. She missed the cut to make the squad her first time trying out but is in some great company in that regard joining such names as Keisha, Amanda F, Katie K, Lisa, Jills alumnus Amanda P, and Jills director Stephanie M as girls who missed the cut their 1st try but came back to tryout again to make the cut. Gina and Jessica have been introduced already but Taryn, hailing from Canada is known for more than her height and long legs, though she does hear about those features a LOT. She's known more for being a bit indecisive in some small ways, being a vegetarian, and being known as the Canadian version of Ruby, something which has helped the two bond quite well.

You can meet all the ambassadors and the dancers at the 8th Annual Buffalo Jills Golf Tournament at Westwood Country Club on August 2nd. There are still some tickets available for this popular event which features golf, lunch, dinner, entertainment, and games for $125 a person, the same price it's been for several years. It's rather nice that, in this economy where prices go up all the time, this great event retains the same price. Get all the details at http://buffalojills.net/Article.asp?id=1833570&spid=34534
From the Bandettes, we feature a photo of Alexis and Beth at the late January game against the Minnesota Swarm in a photo taken early in the 1st quarter. Alexis was in her 2nd season on the squad and brings a fun personality in addition to her beauty to the Bandettes. Beth took 2009 off from the squad due to too much else going on but missed it so much she came back to the squad she started dancing with in 2006. She didn't just come back to dance though as she was named Justina's co-captain for the 2010 Buffalo Bandettes.

Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

Continuing our look at the beautiful young women who will be gracing the sidelines and tailgate parties this fall, we bring you a photo from the Open Workshop where prospective 2010 Buffalo Jills learned what they needed to know to make the squad. Captains, of course, didn't need to try out to make the squad and were on hand at the workshop to help the prospective Jills learn what they needed to and here is a pair of them. Omarlla and Eileen need no introduction to anyone who's followed the Jills this millennium as they'll be going into their 11th seasons together. I remember when they were cute rookies and now look at them. I thought women were supposed to lose their looks as they age...not get even better like these two have. Their 10th season together was a record-setter and the Bills posted up a nice story about them the day before the final game of the season. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/Two-Jills-celebrate-ten-seasons/f02bf342-f924-466c-9426-591a2b3e7368

Our second photo comes from the Bills Open Practice held at the stadium a few weeks ago. Members of the Jills dance squad greeted fans as they came through the gates while handing them rosters and schedules as well as posing for pictures and signing autographs. After that, they took to the field for their 1st large scale performance on the Ralph Wilson Stadium turf as seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xqttC-RmtE Shown posing for a photo here are Natalie and Loren. Natalie is a rookie on the squad and was the girl the Buffalo Bills chose to write a blog about the audition process. You can check it out at http://buffalojills.net/article.asp?id=1761784. Loren is in her 2nd season on the squad and as seen on Sundays, is quite the energetic dancer. No big surprise given her 16 years in competitive dancing.

Your next chance to meet Omarlla, Eileen, Natalie, and Loren along with the entire Buffalo Jills squad is the 8th Annual Buffalo Jills Golf Tournament. This year's event is being held August 2 at Williamsville's Westwood Country Club. Check out all the details at http://buffalojills.net/Article.asp?id=1834972&spid=34534

From the Bandettes comes a photo from after the April game against the Colorado Mammoth. Shown smiling for the camera are Kirsten, Alexis, and Chelsea. Kirsten and Alexis just finished their 2nd seasons on the squad while Chelsea was a rookie in 2010. Following each home game, Pearl Street Grill and Brewery has hosted a post-game party following every Bandits home game and several Bandits players as well as Bandettes dancers are in attendance every game.

Bandette of The Week Alexis

This week is the final installment of the 2010 Bandette of The Week series and last, but far from least, is 2nd year vet Alexis. An avid reader with a thirst for knowledge, she is fiercely independent who people are easily drawn to. Her magnetism has less to do with her considerable beauty and more to do with her personality. Even though she considers herself a homebody for the most part, when she is out, she’s genuinely fun to have around. She loves being the center of attention as well as evidenced by some of the photos she’s been in this year. But she’s not obnoxious about it by any means…although I may tease her about being a ham for the camera at times. But that’s one of the things you love about Alexis, she knows how to joke around when the time is right. She even did a little play on her name at this year’s Buffalo Auto Show in which she posed in, what else, a Lexus. Bandette of The Week Alexis

This week, we take a look at one of our talented rookies as the Bandette of The Week. This future nurse practitioner puts her whole heart into everything that she wants and judging by the fact that she survived a tough audition process to become a Buffalo Bandette, it's a plan of attack that is serving her well. Beyond that, she's shown herself to be a great fan of the camera and hopes to one day visit Japan and New Zealand. You can read more about Alexis at http://www.bandits.com/bandette-09-alexis.cfm
