Buffalo Jill of The Week Beth

This week, we take a look at one of the non-conventional rookies on the Buffalo Jills. Beth may be a rookie when it comes to being on the Jills, but 4 1/2 seasons on the Bandettes makes it hard for me to think of her as a rookie...especially when you consider I've known her and Melissa longer than any current Jill except Omarlla. Found on Christina's line dancing alongside Amanda V, Beth may be kind of a good luck charm for the teams she cheers for. In her 3rd season on the Bandettes, the Bandits won the NLL Title. She took the following season off and the Bandits lost in the Eastern finals. After she and the rest of the Bandettes joined the Jills and Jills alumni in Toronto for the big halftime show there last year, Beth got to thinking about what it would be like to join the Jills. It wasn't an easy decision for her to leave the Bandettes and she was actually more concerned about her squadmates reacting to her leaving the Bandettes than she was about making the Jills. She needn't have been concerned on either front as they were all excited for her on her transition and obviously she made the squad. While nothing was a given, I myself would've been shocked had she not made it. After her 1st 3 solid seasons on the Bandettes, when she came back in 2010 after a season off, she jumped right into the role of a co-captain. It remains to be seen how many seasons Beth plans to stick around on the Jills but if she does put in a decent amount of time, becoming a co-captain on this squad is something I can definitely see happening. She's not afraid to lead her squadmates and was seen as kind of a big sister on the Bandettes by her younger squadmates. Beth's secondary photo comes from Lot C before the Bills-Pats game last month. Shown posing for the photo are Beth and Amanda V.

Don't forget to take a look at her and Melissa putting on a great performance at 1st cuts.

Bandette of The Week Beth

We start off our 2011 Bandette of The Week series with the co-captains and this week, we put the focus on 5th year vet Beth. After starting with the squad in 2006 and winning the Bandettes' Rookie of The Year award, she spent 3 seasons dancing at HSBC Arena before taking a season off and coming back last season. Since joining the Bandettes, she's gotten married, earned her master's degree in elementary education, and starting passing on her love of dance to the cheerleaders that she's coached. Besides loving to dance, she loves to stay busy and travel as well. She's traveled to China a few times as well as Hawaii where Buffalo Jill Katie, who Beth and the rest of the Bandettes danced with in Toronto, currently is for the Pro Bowl. In her bio, she's said that her biggest weakness is being indecisive but that has actually worked out in the fans' favor when you consider that she had decided to quit after 3 seasons but changed her mind and came back to the squad after realizing how much she missed it. Melissa, her captain and one of her closest friends on the squad, is in her 7th season so we can hope that Beth decides to put in at least that much time and keeps contributing in a big way to the NLL's premier dance squad.
Beth's secondary photo comes from the 1st quarter of the Home Opener and features Ashley, Krista, Beth, and Chrissy in the middle of a dance routine.

Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

Valerie, Stefanie
Our first photo from the Buffalo Jills comes from the Buffalo Jills Golf Tournament held recently and features two ladies who should need no introduction as 2010 is going to be their 5th seasons on the squad. Valerie and Stefanie are two of only 3 left from that rookie class along with dance captain Christina. Despite being out of high school for a few years, Val has been to the prom 3 times since joining the Jills…as a result of contests by 97Rock. This year, they added a twist…the contest winner had to choose from among 6 of the Jills to be his date. He still chose Valerie and while any of the other 5 girls would’ve been great choices, who can blame him for choosing Val? Stefanie’s major claims to fame are the gymnastic abilities she’s shown on the sidelines over the course of her career and her willingness to go anywhere to support the troops. This October, during the Bills bye week, she’ll join 7 other Jills in a troop visit to Iraq, her 3rd trip to the Middle East.

Reena, Jessica W, Gabrielle, Amanda V

Also from the Jills Golf Tourney, we have a photo featuring 3 rookies and 1 2nd year vet from the Jills. We’ve already introduced you to dancer Reena and ambassador Jessica W. Posing with them are Gabrielle, in her 2nd year as a dancer, and Amanda V. All I can tell you right now about Amanda is that she’s a dancer on the Jills, having joined most of the other dancers on the squad when the Jills performed at the Bills Open Practice back in June.

If you’re looking to meet some of the Jills this weekend, there’s a pair of appearances that you can find them at. Some of them will be appearing at the Grand Opening of the NAPA Auto Parts store on Southwestern Blvd in Orchard Park, an event going from 10am-2pm on Saturday and also featuring Martin Truex’s NASCAR race car. http://www.wnytire.com/thenapastore.htm

Also, the Rochester Redwings are hosting the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs on Sunday for Buffalo Bills Day at Frontier Field. As part of the day, CJ Spiller, Torell Troup, and Alex Carrington will be on hand for the game along with Billy Buffalo and members of the Buffalo Jills. http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2010/08/11/bills-rooks-to-be-at-red-wings-game/

Beth, Jessica

From the Bandettes, we have a photo from before the April matchup against the Toronto Rock. Shown smiling for the camera are Beth and Jessica. Beth joined up with the Bandettes in 2006 and danced through the 2008 season, finishing up with the 4th Buffalo Bandits Championship at the end of that season. After taking the 2009 season off, she came back in 2010 as a co-captain hoping to help the Bandits to another title. Hopefully 2011 brings the Cup back to Buffalo. Jessica started her Bandettes career in 2008 so anything less than a Championship has to be a letdown for her. Considering her experiences in the Navy, including regularly handling a 50-caliber gun, disappointing this brunette beauty is the last thing anyone should do!

Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

This week, we take a look at the Jills ambassadors with our Photos of The Week. In order to see these young ladies on gameday, you need to make sure you visit the 97Rock and 103.3 The Edge Tailgate parties prior to the game. In addition to meeting the Jills, buying calendars, and getting your photo with these beautiful young ladies, the staff at the tailgate parties are usually running some games or something worth checking out as well. You can also meet a pair of Jills ambassadors in the Fieldhouse as well where they're meeting with fans as well as playing a bit of Family Feud with the fans. After that, those two will be circulating the stadium with Billy Buffalo much of the game.
The 1st photo features most of the Jills ambassador veterans who have returned to the squad. This photo was taken at the Jills Open Practice and features, from left to right, Ambassador Squad co-captain Amanda F, 2nd year vets Ruby, Lindsay, and Alyssa, and 4th year vets Laura and Vincenza. Laura, as everyone should know, has her own mini TV series on ESPN2 called Redfield Redzone and Vincenza returns to the Ambassador Squad this year after a year on Omarlla's dance line last season. Not pictured here are Ambassador Squad Captain Keisha, 2nd year vet Courteney, and 3rd year vet Michelle, who switched over to the Ambassador Squad about a month ago, much to the delight of her fellow ambassadors and to the dismay of the dancers.

The 2nd photo features most of the rookies from the Jills 2010 Ambassador Squad with only Meghan missing from the photo. From left to right we have Sara S, Sara J, Gina, Jessica, and Taryn. I don't know Sara S that well yet but Sara J is the latest in a long line who can only be described as persistent. She missed the cut to make the squad her first time trying out but is in some great company in that regard joining such names as Keisha, Amanda F, Katie K, Lisa, Jills alumnus Amanda P, and Jills director Stephanie M as girls who missed the cut their 1st try but came back to tryout again to make the cut. Gina and Jessica have been introduced already but Taryn, hailing from Canada is known for more than her height and long legs, though she does hear about those features a LOT. She's known more for being a bit indecisive in some small ways, being a vegetarian, and being known as the Canadian version of Ruby, something which has helped the two bond quite well.

You can meet all the ambassadors and the dancers at the 8th Annual Buffalo Jills Golf Tournament at Westwood Country Club on August 2nd. There are still some tickets available for this popular event which features golf, lunch, dinner, entertainment, and games for $125 a person, the same price it's been for several years. It's rather nice that, in this economy where prices go up all the time, this great event retains the same price. Get all the details at http://buffalojills.net/Article.asp?id=1833570&spid=34534
From the Bandettes, we feature a photo of Alexis and Beth at the late January game against the Minnesota Swarm in a photo taken early in the 1st quarter. Alexis was in her 2nd season on the squad and brings a fun personality in addition to her beauty to the Bandettes. Beth took 2009 off from the squad due to too much else going on but missed it so much she came back to the squad she started dancing with in 2006. She didn't just come back to dance though as she was named Justina's co-captain for the 2010 Buffalo Bandettes.

Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

This week, our 1st photo from the Jills comes from the Bills' Friday night draft party and features 2nd year vet Kristen, 9th year director Stephanie, and rookie Ambassador Gina. Kristen, as we previously told you, is moving over from the ambassador squad to the dance squad. With the 2010 season, Stephanie will have put in 17 seasons with the Jills, with an 8-year career on the sidelines including a pair of Super Bowls. Gina will be one of those girls you'll see at the 97Rock and 103.3 The Edge Tailgate parties this fall at the Ralph as she joined the ambassador squad this year.

Our 2nd photo comes from the Jills Open Practice held at the start of June. Shown posing are 2nd year vet Courteney and rookie Meghan. Something that isn't widely known to the fans is the fact that rookie Jills are paired up with a veteran "buddy" to turn to for help in acclimating to the squad. Courteney is fellow ambassador squad member Meghan's buddy. We can't say for sure that Courteney's trademark positivity rubbed off on Meghan because she may have already had it already. One veteran who has definitely rubbed off on Meghan is Murissa...they both just love to pose for the camera like nobody's business.

From the Bandettes, we have a photo from the Pearl Street Postgame party following the February 6 game against the Toronto Rock. Shown posing for the camera are Meghan, Beth, and Justina. Meghan just completed her 5th year on the squad, the last 2 as captain, and has been a big contributor in helping get the info on the Bandettes out to the fans. Beth was in her 4th season on the squad after starting out in 2006 with Meghan and taking 2009 off. Justina finished up her 2nd season as a captain like Meghan did, but got named captain in only her 2nd season, with her rookie season being the 2008 Championship Season.

Bandette of The Week Beth

This week, we feature 4th year vet Beth as our Bandette of The Week. Like some other Bandettes the past few years as well as a few Jills, Beth took some time away from the squad before returning to the squad she missed. Before coming back this season, the last time she danced and cheered at HSBC Arena was when the Bandits won the NLL Title. Despite the team's rough start this year, she's hoping that she can bring a little luck back to the team to win it all again. She's not coming back as like a rookie, though. With Danielle moving on and Melissa moving over to Meghan's line to fill that co-captain slot, Beth is filling the co-captain slot on Justina's line. Dancing and cheering since the age of 4, she turned her passion for cheering into a role as a coach and with a past that included national competitions as well as her current role as a Bandette, she's sure to have the undivided attention of her proteges. Bandette of The Week Beth

3rd year Bandette Beth is someone who's learned to balance a lot the last few years. When she joined up with the squad, she was balancing a few jobs, the Bandettes, coaching cheerleading and college classes. Now she's a married woman who's just about finished with her bachelor's degree in Elementary education. Don't think that getting her bachelor's degree is gonna make things any less hectic for this blonde cutie. She's talked about continuing on for her master's degree. When she isn't swamped with all of her responsibilities, she loves to travel to new places and has already taken two trips to China and one to Hawaii. Bandette of The Week Beth

Our Bandette of the Week is 2nd year vet Beth. Beth is definitely a true Buffalonian, she actually likes the weird weather we have here at times. Despite her love for Buffalo's weather, she loves to get away as well. She's been to China twice and also got to spend some time in Hawaii last summer and got some big news when she was there...news you'll have to check her video profile for. You can read more about Beth at

and check out her video profile at http://www.bandits.com/multimedia.cfm?id=330&media=video as well.

Bandette Profiles Beth

Beth, who is in her second year as a Bandette, loves to travel. She's already been to China twice, as well as Hawaii. If she could do anything, she would try to see more of the world.

She was actually on vacation in Hawaii when she got amazing news last summer. Her fiance had proposed to her and she had learned that she was the Bandette rookie of the year for last season all in the same week.
