Buffalo Jills take show on the road

With a record of seven wins and nine losses, the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills didn’t make it to the playoffs this past year. For the players, next season can’t come soon enough. But for their cheerleaders, the Buffalo Jills, there is no off-season.

Eight members of the Buffalo Jills cheerleading squad recently performed in front of a packed house here at the base auditorium.

Coming Home...Jills in Iraq

This was our last day of our tour and we finished it in Kuwait at Arifjan. Stefanie got her bag back so we were able to perform our show 100% as we did before it was lost. The Col. of that base held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of their new stage.

Jills in Iraq March 2, 2007

Wait till all of you see the pictures we took today! I have one word for all of you "RAMBO"! When we got to our second base we did our usual meet and greet and then they asked the question we were all waiting for. "Would you like to shoot a M4 and 240 machine gun?"!

Day 9 of the Jills in Iraq

We woke up this morning and started our day off with a real quick 2minute tour of Saddam's palace. Our flight was bumped up so we ran in and took some quick pictures and then went right to the helicopter. When we got to where we needed to be the flight was then delayed a little bit. http://www.97rock.com/jillsiniraq.html

'Buffalo Jills' visit Troops in Baqubah

Most Soldiers stationed in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08 don't wake up to cheerleaders, but that's exactly what happened to the Soldiers stationed on Forward Operating Base Warhorse, Feb. 25.The National Football League's Buffalo Bills' cheerleaders, the Buffalo Jills, arrived, via helicopter, in the morning to greet the anxious crowd of Soldiers stationed on Warhorse.

Day 8 of the Jills in Iraq

February 28th
The day started off at 6:00am for us. Today we stopped at two bases that really don't get to see anyone, Falcon and Rustamiyah. We went to Falcon first for a meet and greet and after that we had a really fun and crazy helicopter ride to Rustamiyah. Rustamiyah has a high threat level, we were a little scared but we were very safe and nothing happened.

Jills in Iraq February 27, 2007 Evening (Iraq time)

Greetings from Iraq! We started our day at Freedom Rest, located right outside of Baghdad. It was more like a resort than an army base. Freedom Rest was originally built for Sadam's officers to stay in, and it was very luxurious. Next we took a tour of Prosperity, which was built around one of Sadam's old palaces.

Jills in Iraq...Days 3 and 5

February 24, 2007 11:30pm(Iraq time)
We started the day off with breakfast at 6:00am. Immediately after we rucked up (put our gear on) and boarded a Black Hawk helicopter. We flew to a meet and great at camp Sykes At that camp we were presented with an American flag and a certificate that stated it was flown for 9 minutes and 11 seconds in the face of the enemy.

We weren't able to write last night because of delays. We landed at our first base yesterday around 9:00am and were stuck there till almost 7:30pm. When we first arrived at the base we did a really fun meet and greet. The troops asked if they did a dance for us would we do our Shout dance for them.

Day 2 of the Jills in Iraq

February 23, 2007 11:00pm (Iraq time)
This morning we all had a wake up call at 4:30am and while we were getting ready we heard a prayer that played outside over a speaker at 5:00am. We're not exactly sure but the information we got was that it plays five times a day. At approximately 7:00am, we were issued military gear consisting of a plated vest, a helmet and special glasses. The total weight of it all was probably 25 pounds. We have to wear this gear around the bases.

Day 1 of the Jills in Iraq

It's been an extremely long day of flying. Buffalo to Ny to Germany to Kuwait was approximately 14 hours flying time but a full day of travel time. We're so happy to finally be in Kuwait. We were all very impressed as soon as we got off the plane, it's beautiful here. Kuwait is full of amazing architecture and scenery. We thought we saw a ton of palm trees which was really unexpected on our way to the hotel.

Buffalo Jills To Perform In Iraq

8 members of the Buffalo Jills have been invited to participate in a 10 day military tour of Iraq in February and March. The NFL cheerleaders have been busy planning a 30 minute performance. They've been rehearsing once a week for an hour long show which they'll perform for soldiers two times a day at bases all over the country. There are many military guidelines to adhere to and the squad says they're both anxious and excited.
