Bandette of The Week Jennifer

This week, the Bandettes Appearance Captain gets the featured spot as our Buffalo Bandette of The Week. In her 2nd year on the Bandettes, Jennifer gets to show off her leadership abilities in her new role on the squad. A Chicagoan by birth, she's a huge sports fan and especially basketball. It's just a shame that thanks to her youth, she wasn't old enough to really appreciate the runs of 3 consecutive titles by her hometown Bulls. Jennifer isn't planning on being satisfied with being a pro dancer and a fan as she intends to pursue a career as an athletic trainer after getting her Master's degree. Jennifer's secondary photo comes from the Bandits' Opener against Calgary. As the Bandettes were waiting to head out to perform near the end of the 3rd quarter, Jennifer, Syidah, and Ti got together for a photo together, the three ebony beauties on the squad.

From the Jills comes a photo from the 2008 Buffalo Jills Calendar Release Party. Things were winding down late in the evening and a few of the Jills posed for photos. Shown posing for this photo are then-2nd year vets Jill and Ayeshia.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Jennifer

This week, we feature 2nd year dancer Jennifer as our Buffalo Jill of The Week. She spent the season dancing on Christina's line between Kaitlin and Ayeshia and besides her outgoing and friendly nature, perhaps her strongest trait is her dedication. That dedication goes to a lot of areas in her life, too, including friends, work, the gym, and of course, the Jills. Even as a rookie, she was working to help organize get-togethers for the squad and has been known to throw herself into every aspect of the squad. Considering the friendships she's made by being on the squad, that's not exactly surprising. Probably her closest friend is 3rd year vet Ayeshia, who she's danced alongside both years she's been on the squad and even auditioned with, in matching outfits. Beyond all that though, she's been cheering and dancing since the age of 3 and also has done a considerable amount of teaching in both areas, and that's even before she joined the Jills and started working with the Jr Jills, one of her favorite parts of being a Jill. That's not something just gleaned off her bio, either. Watching her interact with the group that she, Jill, and Lisa taught at the Open Practice the Jills held this past September showed how much she enjoyed teaching dance and cheer. 2 appearances in Northern Chautauqua County

A couple different locations were the setting as the Jills went south from Erie County into the county that used to host Bills Training Camp and was the birthplace of Bills 50th Anniversary team LB Shane Conlan.

First off was the Tailgate Party in TJ Maxx Plaza in Dunkirk which was put together by DFT Technology Plus, a local internet and DirecTV provider. The attendees, of which there were many, got free hot dogs and registered for prizes like a flat screen TV or a Terrell Owens autographed jersey. Put together as a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County, DFT brought in former Bills LS Adam Lingner as well as Jill, Jessica, Angelina, and Joya of the Buffalo Jills to sign autographs and pose for pictures.

Next up was Septemberfest at Merritt Estate Winery, an official sponsor of the Buffalo Jills and the maker of Buffalo Jills Wine. As a fundraiser for Camp Good Days, they held a silent auction with dozens of prizes including autographed Buffalo Sabres photos and memorabilia. Merritt Winery brought in former Sabres winger Danny Gare and ex-boxer Baby Joe Mesi along with several members of the Buffalo Jills to sign autographs and pose for photos while live music played all day long.
With 2 events going on at once, I was able to make it out to Merritt Winery in time to talk to and get some photos of Ayeshia and Jennifer of the Buffalo Jills before their shift ended.
The Jills aren't done in Chautauqua County this weekend by any means, though as Septemberfest is going on Sunday as well so you can still check out some live bands, tour the winery, and meet some of the Buffalo Jills then. http://www.merrittestatewinery.com/page/53/calendar.aspx
Also, Shawbucks in Jamestown, in the southern part of the county, is hosting a benefit for a Marine who was critically injured in Afghanistan. The event goes from 1pm-7pm (or 10pm depending on the website) and costs $10 at the door which goes to benefit his family and his recovery. You can read more about the young man's situation at http://www.truehero.us/ Live music is included throughout the day, Shawbucks' kitchen will be open for business and a few of the Buffalo Jills will be on hand to lend their support as well.
After all this, it'll be time for the Jills to get set for the season with a pep rally in downtown Buffalo at Fountain Plaza Monday at noon and then a number of them will be heading across the Peace Bridge to hang out with Bills fans for Monday Night Football at Kelsay's Restaurant on Garrison Road in Fort Erie.
Be sure to stay tuned to http://buffalojills.net/appearances/index.php and the Buffalo Pro Cheer Blog for more info on Jills future appearances!

Buffalo Jill of The Week Jennifer

This week, we take a look at quite possibly the most outgoing of all the 2009 rookie Buffalo Jills. That's saying quite a bit when you consider what kind of a rookie squad the Jills had this year. In the past several years of covering the Jills, I'd have to say this is the most close-knit group in a while and Jennifer has been a big part of why. The girls have had a lot of get-togethers this past season and despite the fact that she was "just a rookie," Jennifer was a part of getting those organized along with Ambassador Squad co-captain Danielle. On gamedays, we found her dancing on Nicole's line next to Katie K and Ayeshia and she was also one of the rookies regularly taking the stage at events this past season, including the Congratulatory Party this past April. Considering she's been cheering and dancing since the age of 3 as well as coaching cheerleaders during her college days, that should be no surprise. Since those were high schoolers she was coaching, maybe she'll have some of her proteges cheering alongside her in 2009! Read more about Jennifer at http://www.buffalojills.net/bios/jennifer.html

Buffalo Jills Photos of The Week

This week, we take a look at another pair of photos from the Congratulatory Party and from last year's Jills Golf Tournament. From the Congratulatory Party, we have a shot with Nichole, Jennifer, and Stephanie M. Nichole spent the 2000-2005 seasons dancing on the sidelines of Ralph Wilson Stadium and then moved more behind the scenes starting in 2006 when she took on the role of Jills Coordinator. Jennifer is one of promising rookies with the Jills this year and besides being a real go-getter, she loves MTV's Real World. Stephanie spent a few years dancing with the Jills a few years ago and has been the Jills director since 2002, guiding the squad through increased positive exposure with additions like Jills events at different times of the year, the Ambassador Squad, and a roster that keeps growing.

From last year's Jills Golf Tournament, we have a trio of 2nd year vets. Jill D is a former competitive dancer and is one of the most friendly girls around. Katie C is as zany as they come and her fun-loving attitude is obviously not the only thing about her drawing comparisons to Cameron Diaz. Lisa was last year's rookie of the year and that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone as she's been a cheerleader since the age of 4, 18 years so far.

Don't forget! This weekend is the Taste of Buffalo in Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo and it'll be a great chance to not only sample a lot of different local cuisines, but meet many of the rookie Buffalo Jills we'll be seeing on the sideines this fall. Also, if you haven't gotten your tickets for the Jills Golf Tournament on July 21st yet, it's not too late to reserve a day of golf, entertainment, prizes, and the company of the entire Buffalo Jills squad. Just visit http://www.buffalojills.net/contact.html to get your tickets.

Jills video up on BuffaloBills.com!

There's a new video up in the multimedia section of buffalobills.com that gives another look at the tryout process. Included in this video are interviews with 3rd year vet Jenica, 2nd year vet Lisa, rookie Jennifer, as well as Lisa's friend Amanda who we met at the Jills Open Workshop. As it turns out, Lisa and Amanda wore matching outfits to the 1st day of cuts, bringing back memories of the 2006 1st day of cuts when Autumn and Rachael sported matching outfits as well. Unfortunately, Amanda won't be on the sidelines this fall as she dropped out due to time contstraints but hopefully she'll be one of those trying out again next year.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Jennifer

This fresh-faced beauty just completed her first season (but hopefully not last) as a Buffalo Jill. She was one of the contributors to the Jills' win over Durf's Dollies last Father's Day (yeah, they claim they won but anyone who saw the game knew the Jills had them beat...lol) and someday hopes to increase her sporting abilities to include skiing. She's now danced for 16 years (and she only just turned 21) including 2 years in college. You can read more about Jennifer in the files section and check out her sizzling swimsuit photos at FCI"s official site
