2008 Buffalo Jills Congratulatory Party-revisited

In 2008, the Buffalo Jills moved their event schedule almost exclusively to Club Paradise, a nightclub in Blasdell, NY. On NFL Draft Weekend, when the Buffalo Bandits were finishing up their regular season schedule, the Buffalo Jills were setting up their annual Congratulatory Party, to introduce the new squad to the fans. With the Bandits game going on, I showed up later than normal, staying at the game until after 3rd intermission and making it to the party just as it was starting.

In some ways, it was a typical Jills event in the form of raffles and 50-50 drawings but there was also an added feature. Early in the evening, 97Rock's DJ Jickster brought all the rookies out in front of the stage area and then selected some of the girls to answer Bills trivia questions. One of the requirements of being a Jill is the ability to talk about the Bills and this was just a little test to see how much they had to learn. Some of the questions were pretty basic but some were a bit trickier. Ali, for one, tried to get one of the easier ones but to no avail.

After the Q & A session, the entire squad, minus the few that had other appearances, came out in front of the stage to pose for photos both for and with the fans before taking a break to mingle with fans, friends, and family. I spent some of my time talking to Lonna. Lonna was a rookie dancer on the squad who really seemed to have it together and when I saw her at tryouts, I figured she was a good choice to make the squad. Of course no, Jills event would be complete without a dance performance and for the 1st time, instead of just having a small select group performing, they added a special twist. They had a small select group of vets perform before bringing on some of the rookies to perform the tryout routine. After they finished, the vets joined them for a performance to a remix of JLo's "Do It Well."

Afterwards, everyone spent the rest of the evening relaxing and mingling before Club Paradise started their weekly line dancing session, when many of the girls hit the dance floor with the rest of the club's patrons. I spent my time with vets and rookies alike, including rookie Tiffany, an engaging conversationalist who spent her entire high school career as a cheerleader before deciding to give the Jills Ambassador Squad a shot.

From the Bandettes comes a photo from the 2nd Toronto Rock game. As part of the annual Jr Bandettes game, the Bandettes were joined by their younger counterparts on the field in pregame and as they welcomed the Bandits to the floor for the start of the game. Shown among the many Jr Bandettes in this photo are Mandy and Chrissy.

2009 Buffalo Jills Congratulatory Party

From late March thru mid-April, the focus of the Jills was in putting together the 2009 Buffalo Jills squad to cheer on the Bills in their 50th season of existence. Over 100 girls put in long hours of hard work to make the squad and out of them, 37 girls were selected to join the 8 preselected captains on the sidelines of Ralph Wilson Stadium this fall. For those 45 young women, the hard work continues as they've been preparing for the last month and will contnue to prepare all summer long to get ready for the 2009 NFL Season that kicks off in Canton, Ohio in August at the Hall of Fame game featuring the Buffalo Bills and the Tennessee Titans.
To introduce the 2009 squad to the public, the Buffalo Jills invaded Club Paradise in Blasdell, NY, only 8 minutes from Ralph Wilson Stadium for their annual Congratulatory Party. The party not only allowed the public to meet the Jills squad, but gave the Jills themselves a chance to celebrate their accomplishment of making the squad with family and friends. This year's party included a chinese raffle, a 50-50 drawing, and 3 separate dance routines put on by the Jills dancers. Taking the stage to announce the event was honorary Buffalo Jill Lydia, the host of Buffalo's CW23 TV station, WNLO.
Coming up next, the Jills are heading to the Bahamas for the annual Swimsuit Calendar Shoot Cruise and when they return, some of them will be at Buck's Motorsports in Akron, NY on May 30th to sign autographs, pose for pictures, and wash cars and motorcycles in a benefit for Mercy Flight from noon to 5pm.
After that, some of the squad will be at the Buffalo Convention Center on June 13th for the 2nd Annual Buffalo's Biggest 80's Bash posing for pictures, signig autographs, and putting on a big 80s style routine. Don't forget to visit the Taste Of Buffalo this summer as some of the Jills will be spending the mid-afternoon at the 97Rock and 103.3 The Edge booths meeting the fans.
Finally, if you haven't put in for vacation for July 20th, it's not too late to do so as Fox Valley Country Club in Lancaster, NY plays host to the 7th Annual Buffalo Jills Golf Tournament. $125 a golfer includes lunch, dinner, 18 holes, a golf cart, and entertainment. Prizes and a cash bar are also available for your convenience.

Also, stay tuned to CW23 as they prepare to air a mini-series of videos showing a behind-the-scenes look at Buffalo Jills tryouts. If you can't get Buffalo's CW23, keep an eye on http://www.cw23.com/ where you'll be able to get to see those same videos online.

Photos finished from Jills tryouts

Just a little note that the pictures and videos taken at Sunday's round of Jills tryouts are all posted at http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/buffalojills2005/2009/1st%20cuts/ Videos were shot of most of the veteran routines as well as some random prospective rookies. (My apologies to the vets who didn't get videos...Valerie already gave me a little grief about that...lol).

We also have some news from the final results of Jills tryouts. A photo will be taken of the completed squad at their first practice on Tuesday so we'll see the new squad photo about Wednesday. 27 veterans return to this year's 45-girl roster but out of the 18 remaining slots that were filled, only 15 of them are true rookies. We have 3 familiar faces returning to the ranks as well. 2003-2004 dancer Kelly Ann returns to the squad as an Ambassador while a pair of girls from the 2007 squad return as dancers. Michelle was on that squad just briefly while Kaitlin V spent the entire season on the Ambassador Squad.
We also have a little bit of shifting around on the squads to reveal as well. The 2009 Jills Ambassador Squad will definitely have a different look this year as Laura joins captains Danielle and Keisha as the only returnees to the squad from last season along with the aforementioned Kelly Ann and 8 fresh-faced rookies to the 12-girl squad. The 33-girl dance squads, headed up by Omarlla, Eileen, and Nicole get some transfers from the Ambassador Squad as 3rd year vets Amanda F and Vincenza make the transition along with 2nd year vet Liz and returnee Kaitlin V.
For more, stay tuned to http://www.buffalojills.net/ CW23, 97Rock, and the Buffalo Pro Cheer Blog as more is revealed from the new 2009-2010 Buffalo Jills squad.
Congratulations to all the rookies, returning vets, and the vets transitioning over to dance!
Their first big appearance will be the Bills Season Ticket Holder draft party at Ralph Wilson Stadium on April 25th from 3pm-7pm. The event is only open to Bills season ticket holders and does require a ticket to get in. Tickets have been mailed or emailed out to season ticket holders already so if you haven't received yours, check with the Bills ticket office.
After that, the Bills have two appearances on May 2nd. The Buffalo Pizza Fest takes place at Hearthstone Manor from 11am-9pm and you can meet some of the Jills there during the afternoon. From 4pm-7pm, there will be a meet-and-greet with some more of the Jills at Tioga Downs racing and Entertainment as well.
The biggest thing to mark on your calendars is, of course, the Buffalo Jills Congratulatory Party at Club Paradise from 9pm-midnight on May 16th. The event is open to the public (21 and over) and includes raffles, a big dance performance, and even a rookie initiation.
After that, the Jills hit the high seas as their calendar shoot takes place the week of May 25th-29th on Carnival's Imagination with visits to Cozumel and Key West and the public is invited to see the making of the Swimsuit Calendar. Update on Jills Appearances

Obviously, the big thing right now is tryouts. The Open Workshop to be held this Sunday is closed to the public but the tryout session on April 5th is open to the public for a cost of $5. It takes place from 1pm til about 4pm...depending on the number of participants...at the Town Ballroom on Main Street in downtown Buffalo. This round of tryouts will include the 1st round of cuts of the dancers in which prospective dancers will show off their dancing ability with a routine they'll learn at this Sunday's Open Workshop. There will be a few celebrity judges for this event including Bills DE Chris Kelsay and BullRadio's own Rich Gaenzler. This will also be the 2nd round of cuts for the Ambassadors and you'll get a chance to see some of the young ladies who'll be found inside the Fieldhouse and at the 97Rock and 103.3 The Edge tailgate parties prior to all Bills home games this fall.
After that, you'll get to meet some of the 2009-2010 Buffalo Jills squad if you're a Bills season ticket holder at the Buffalo Bills Draft party at the Stadium. This event includes an announcement of the Buffalo Bills All-time team, selected by the fans, behind the scenes tours, and live 2009 NFL Draft Coverage. You'll also meet member of the current Buffalo Bills team, Billy Buffalo, local celebrities, and the Buffalo Jills who will pose for pictures and perform at the event.
On May 2nd, 2 events will be taking place at which you'll be able to meet some of the Jills. Unfortunately, the Buffalo Men's Show has been cancelled due to a lack of booth sign-ups and we hope that will change for next year. It was a pretty popular event last year and the Hamburg Agri-Center was packed most of the day. One of the events that is taking place is a meet-and-greet at Tioga Downs Racing and Entertainment. Meet some of the Jills and get photos with them from 4pm-7pm. On May 2nd AND 3rd, Hearthstone Manor plays host to the Buffalo Pizza-Fest, an event in which you can indulge your taste buds with the finest pizza in Western NY and indulge your eyes with some of Buffalo's hottest women, namely, the Buffalo Jills. There's lots going on at the Pizza Fest so visit http://thebuffalopizzafest.com/ for full details.
May 16th is the biggest event coming up soon for the 2009 Jills...it's the Buffalo Jills Congratulatory Party to be held at Club Paradise in Blasdell, NY. The event includes raffles, a hot dance performance, and a rookie initiation. At last year's event, Jickster tested 10 Jills rookies on a variety of Bills trivia. The best part is that they weren't all easy questions and challenged the most diehard Bills fans. The event starts at 9pm and runs til midnight but you must be 21 or over to attend (unless you're on the squad, obviously).
The Buffalo Jills hit the high seas from May 25th-29th on Carnival's Imagination as they work on shooting the 2009-2010 Buffalo Jills Swimsuit calendar. They'll be visiting Key west and Cozumel as part of this 4-night cruise and having a blast while shooting their calendar. To go along and see some of the making of the Swimsuit Calendar, get all the details at http://buffalojills.net/appearances/details.php?recordID=3
On June 13th, the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center plays host to Buffalo's Biggest 80s Bash. Listen to some of the greatest music of the 80s including performances by That 80s Hair Band and a great mix of tunes by some local DJs, play arcade games, and a lot more. But the biggest part will be an appearance by some of the Buffalo Jills. In addition to partying along with everyone else, they'll be putting on a hot 80s style dance performance. Get more info and ticket details at http://www.80sbash.com/ Last year, Jennifer, Lisa, Kristin B, Jenica, Jamie, Amelina, and Anna were there thrilling the crowds.
July 20th is the day for all golfers to take a vacation day as Fox Valley Country Club in Lancaster plays host to the 7th Annual Buffalo Jills Golf Tournament. The $125 fee includes 18 holes, cart, lunch, dinner, and entertainment by the Buffalo Jills. Also included in the day's festivities are raffles, a poker run, and contests with some great prizes. You can even bid to take a Jill along with your group for the day. Get all the details at http://buffalojills.net/appearances/details.php?recordID=9
On August 8th, Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson Jr and all-time sack leader Bruce Smith will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. As part of the 50th Anniversary of the AFL, the Bills Hall of Famers won't be the only Bills in Canton that weekend as the NFL selected the Bills and the Titans, the only 2 teams still with the same owner since they helped found the AFL, to face off in the Hall of Fame game in Fawcett Stadium at 8pm on August 9th. As part of that game and festivities, see the Buffalo Jills and the Tennessee Titans cheerleaders together.
Finally, the last update we have at this time is dealing with the Buffalo Jills Swimsuit Calendar Release party. September 26th is the date and Club Paradise is the place as the 2009 Buffalo Jills engage in a swimsuit fashion show, a series of hot dance performances, and pose for photos and sign calendars for the fans as well as sell raffle tickets for lots of great prizes.
Stay tuned to www.buffalojills.net and the Buffalo Pro Cheer Blog for all your Jills news and updates on upcoming appearances.

2008 Buffalo Jills Congratulatory Party

While the NFL's Buffalo Bills were conducting their annual player draft and the NLL's Buffalo Bandits were wrapping up their regular season, Club Paradise in Blasdell played host to the 2008 Buffalo Jills Congratulatory Party, an event that packed the new official home for the Buffalo Jills events. All but a handful of the squad's 48 members were in attendance for the event which included a trivia contest for a half dozen of the squad's 23 rookies to compete in as well as raffle prizes and a sexy dance performance put on by not only some of the vets, but some of the rookies as well. Included here are a large number of photos of the Buffalo Jills on hand, both veterans and rookies (although we are still learning rookie names here so be sure to check back on occasion as the word rookie in the album gets replaced by actual names) as well as a pair of rough videos of the dance performances put on by the Jills.
special note: My apologies to the rookies whose names weren't included in the pics...still learning your names and I wanted to be sure I posted the correct names for the photos
Coming up next for the Jills is the Buffalo Men's Show at the Agri-Center at the Hamburg Fairgrounds, details of which can be found at http://buffalomensshow.com/ but the basics are this. It runs from 11-8 on Saturday, May 3rd and includes, among other things, a hot dance performance by members of the 2008-09 Buffalo Jills, a bikini fashion show, and appearances by Chris "Shooter McGavin" McDonald of Happy Gilmore, May 2007 Playboy Playmate Shannon James, Bills players like Trent Edwards, Terrence McGee and Gibran Hamden, Sabres Alumni Rob Ray and Matt Barnaby, Ruben Brown, the CW23's Lydia and a whole lot more. Tickets are available at tickets.com for $5 in advance as well as available at the door for $7.
