A few tidbits to catch up on regarding the Teasers and the Bandettes

The Teasers at the Lockport Pub in December
First up, we have the Teasers. The popular cover band based in Lockport featuring Jills alum Aimee L (2003) split up less than 2 years ago had a pair of reunion gigs the last few months and at the 1st of them, the Lockport Pub even ran out of several brands of beer. In the article on the event, I speculated that it wouldn't be the last time we saw them together and, after a successful reunion at Scruples in Newfane, they're back at the Lockport Pub on March 19. The fun starts at 9:30 and I'm sure they learned their lessons in regards to beer.
Last week, the Bandettes traveled to Toronto to cheer on the Bandits and engage in a "cheer battle" with the Toronto Rock Cheerleaders. As readers are well aware, we generally only share our own photos on this site but do occasionally share a few from the Bandettes Facebook page on our Facebook page. Those photos are generally taken by AP Photographer Bill Wippert. Unfortunately, the game in Toronto featured few cheerleader photos. Only 2 of them at http://torontorock.staging.pairshaped.ca/gallery/photo-gallery-february-19th-vs-buffalo showed our Bandettes at all. However, a Toronto Rock super-fan takes plenty of photos that he shares with the public of the Rock AND the Rock Cheerleaders on his Facebook. He did get a good number of them with the Bandettes as well. Check them out at https://www.facebook.com/jonathan.treen/media_set?set=a.10156565349510301.1073741935.622740300&type=3&uploaded=363

The Bandettes take the field

Finally, many may have noticed that the Bandettes page on Bandits.com currently doesn't exist. We aren't really sure of what is going on with that. The Bandettes' bios and headshots are all ready to put up on the website and have been in the Bandits' possession for over a month. Our Bandette of The Week feature has still been going strong and has been getting a lot of attention from Bandettes fans. Without the Bandits website being up-to-date, we have 1 person to really give props to for that. This season, the Bandettes have gone without a full-time coach, with captains Mandy and Stephanie handling the bulk of the extra work.  Even with all that extra responsibility, Mandy has really come through for the fans and the girls on the squad in assuring we have information to share so that the Bandettes can all continue to get features they're happy to share with family and friends. When you see Mandy at the games, make sure to give her major props for doing this for all of us.

Photos and videos from the Teasers reunion show

As our long-time readers probably remember, Jills alum Aimee L (2003) was the lead singer for a very popular cover band called The Teasers based out of Lockport, NY for a few years. Sadly, they called it quits about 2 years ago but their fanbase has been clamoring for a reunion for a good chunk of that time. Happily, they worked something out and put together a reunion show this past Saturday night at the Lockport Pub. Carrie G and The Runaways opened for them with drummer Brian Zapp pulling double duty drumming for his new band and his old band.
I got there a little after 10 myself after finishing up at the 716ers game and saw the Teasers guitarist, Parker Greenman, out front and caught up with him a little bit as the Runaways played. It wasn't long before we were joined by my friend Ashley, former lead singer of several groups, and Aimee. We all did some catching up until the Runaways finished their set upon which Aimee, Parker, and bassist Tony Truscio joined Brian on stage to set up. By the time I got a drink, they were just about to get started and I worked my way through the crowd a few rows from the stage. They mixed in some of the songs they'd been doing for most of their time together with a few newer songs. They even brought up Ashley to help out on "Heartbreaker" and then got Carrie G up for a song as well.

Overall, the reunion was a huge success for everyone involved. The Teasers showed they still had the magic that won them awards as WNY's Best Pop-Rock Band and Carrie G and the Runaways picked up a lot of new fans. The Lockport Pub also cashed in bigtime on the night as, despite long waits for drinks by many fans, they actually ran out of a lot of their well drinks.
While it's doubtful that we'll get the Teasers to re-form again for good (and I heard several people wanting them to), hopefully they'll find the time to put together some more reunions from time to time.

Teasers calling it quits

The Teasers from their January 10, 2014 at The Vault
As all our readers know, we support the girls on the Jills and Bandettes in their other public endeavors even after they leave the squad as well. One of those cases involves 2003 Jills alum Aimee L. For a few years she was the lead singer for Disco Duck, a WNY band that's still entertaining disco and dance fans several years running. 2005 Jills alum Ashlee A even spent some time with them as well. For the last 4 years, Aimee has been the lead for the Teasers, a band based out of Lockport that has built quite a following. Today, the Teasers announced they were calling it quits but not without a final gig. Their final show will be Saturday night from 8-midnight at Terry's Corners Volunteer Fire Department in Gasport. If you show up earlier, they're having a cash raffle, open bar, and dinner for you and a guest for $50 to raise money for the fire department. Cash bar and the Teasers start at 8. http://www.terryscorners.com/

The Teasers Rock The Vault

The Teasers in action at The Vault
After the Bandits game, I made my way up to Niagara Falls, NY where The Teasers were playing. For those unfamiliar, The Teasers is a cover band based out of Lockport, NY with 2003 Buffalo Jills alum Aimee L as the lead singer. Over the last decade or so, the Jills have boasted a pair of professional singers in Aimee and in Ashlee Amoia. Ashlee's angelic voice can be heard at events like the Italian Festival and she's sung with Studio 54, About Face, Disco Duck, and The Scintas over the past few years. Aimee's powerful voice was with Disco Duck before the Teasers was formed about 4 years ago. They cover a wide variety of songs from Pat Benatar and Rick Springfield as well as current hits from artists like Ke$ha and Lady Gaga. They also add new songs frequently and not just for Aimee's vocals. Guitarist Parker Greenman may be built like a linebacker (Bills alum Gabe Northern comes to mind) but his intimidating physical stature belies a velvety smooth voice that comes through on several songs, both in backing vocals and as the lead.
