Buffalo Jill of The Week Emily

This week, we take a look at 4th year vet Emily as our Buffalo Jill of The Week. In her 1st season as a captain after getting named co-captain in 2012, she'll be the longest tenured on the squad assuming she chooses to return in 2014. She finished off last season taking a trip to Tokyo with other NFL cheerleaders and this season, finishes it off in Hawaii after getting named to the Pro Bowl by her squadmates. Sadly, a lot of young ladies, after finishing their cheering days, don't do much as far as dancing afterwards. Emily will be one of those who continues on after having received her Bachelor's in Dance and has plans to open her own studio. Odds are she'll live vicariously through her little sister as well as she considers her to be her best friend and the greatest gift she's ever received. On occasion over the years, I've noticed a rookie or two at tryouts who just seems too good to not make it...and truth be told, I've always been right. In 2010, Emily and Natalie (2010-11) were definite standouts like that and to be honest, watching Emily go from aspiring rookie to Pro Bowler is quite the thrill...because I know she's going to wow everyone in Hawaii with her beauty, inside and out. You can see all of Emily's pics at https://buffaloprocheerbuffalojills.shutterfly.com/jillsindividualpics/6546 Emily's secondary photo comes from the Bills' Opener against New England. Shown coming off the field at the end of the game are Jayanti, Hayley, and Emily.

From the Bandettes comes a photo from the February game against the Rochester Knighthawks. Prior to the game, one line would visit with fans at the pregame party at Cobblestone as well as sell raffle tickets. Shown posing for the photo are Brianna A, Danielle, Lauren K, and Chrissy. And the Jills' Pro Bowler is...

Emily! At Buffalo Jills practice tonight, a vote was held to select the squad's representative to the 2014 Pro Bowl. In January, 4th year vet Emily will be trading the snow and cold of Western NY for the sand, palm trees, and warmth of Hawaii. Who she'll be rooting on is hard to say as the Pro Bowl has a new format this season. No longer and AFC-NFC matchup, the teams will be chosen like in a schoolyard, with the top 2 vote-getters named as captains. Regardless, it's unlikely that Emily will be alone over there with several Bills having strong seasons. However, they have to wait more than a month to find out while Emily can start making plans now. Lisa and Christina will be helping her out with what to expect but I'm sure Omarlla will be one of many former Jills Pro Bowlers also more than happy to help Emily out as well.
An honor well-deserved for this 1st year captain!

Buffalo Jill of The Week Emily

This week, we take a look at now-4th year vet Emily as our Buffalo Jill of The Week. Dancing on Omarlla's line as her co-captain between Emmy and Chaundra, Emily will be taking over as line captain in 2013, after finishing up her undergraduate degree in dance. She doesn't plan on stopping her education as she does still plan to pursue her MBA with the eventual goal of opening her own dance studio. Dance is Emily's life and even as a Jill, she puts in a lot of time with dance away from the squad and has even participated in a few ballet recitals the past few years. She's also a very devoted big sister as she considers her little sister to be the best gift she's ever received and when the Jills did Open Practices (as well as presumably with the Jr Jills), Emily has been a standout with the attention she's paid the little girls she's teaching. You can read more about Emily at http://buffalojills.com/profile.php?PID=70 Emily's secondary photo comes from last year's Season Ticket Holder Draft Party held at the Healthy Zone Fieldhouse. Shown posing for a photo are Emily, Jacki, and Lisa.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Emily

This week, we take a look at now-3rd year vet Emily as our Buffalo Jill of The Week. With tryouts coming up this week, it should be noted that Emily won't be trying out...she's already made the squad and will be the co-captain on Omarlla's line in 2012 after dancing on that line between Jaclyn and Kristina in 2011. For Emily, dance is more than just a passion...she's working towards turning it into her career. She's been involved in ballet for several years and is studying dance as her major in college. In addition to the dance, she's also great with little children. At an appearance back in August, she and Briana spent some time with some little girls who might one day become Jills themselves or at least Jr Jills. Well, Emily has a baby sister she adores and, in the few minutes she spent with these little girls, she treated them just as she would that baby sister with her attentiveness and attitude. You can read more about Emily at http://buffalojills.com/profile.php?PID=12 Emily's secondary photo is from the Jills Comedy Show held in January and was taken just before the fans came in for the show. Shown posing for the camera are Jenny, Emily, and Jami.

The Jills at the 3rd Annual Nathan George Softball Tourney

There are various charitable foundations in Western NY that the Jills come out in support of. The Nathan George Foundation was established in 2009 in memory of a young man beloved by many in Dunkirk, NY who lost his life in a car accident. The purpose of The Nathan George Foundation is to support community & school sports organizations in need within Northern Chautauqua County as well as awarding annual scholarships to athletes. They annually hold a spaghetti dinner and a softball tournament in August to support their goals and this year, Emily and Bri of the Buffalo Jills were on hand to help with raffle tickets and pose for pictures.

Bri and Emily with a future Jill
It was a beautiful day for the well-attended tournament with teams from several states away entered into the tournament. Walking around with the girls while they sold raffle tickets, I found out something interesting about Bri's background which I'll share when either she or her sister Jessica get their Jill of The Week feature. Emily, in her 2nd year on the squad, is more excited about getting on the field August 27th than she was last year because she knows what to expect and isn't so nervous. As a vet, she's also developed a protective instinct for the rookies. While Bri was helping someone with their raffle tickets, a pop fly came out of the softball field next to us and when someone yelled for people to watch out, Emily reached over Bri to protect her head. Luckily the ball landed several yards away and no one was hurt. Buffalo Jill of The Week Emily

This week, we take a look at now-2nd-year vet Emily as our Buffalo Jill of The Week. During her rookie season, she showed off her dance skills on Eileen's line next to her and Stefanie. There's a lot of girls on the squad who can say they live to dance but for the most part, those are the girls who stick around for several years. After a number of years on the squad, you can really see just how important a part of their lives that dancing really is. Emily, despite finishing up only her rookie season so far, has as much dedication to dancing as anyone else who's ever been on the squad. In fact, had she been born just a few months earlier, she would likely have been on the 2009 squad. But she didn't turn 18 soon enough and wound up being the first rookie dancer we met in 2010 when she posed for a photo at tryouts with Kristen and Nicole. Hopefully, Emily's love of dance keeps her on the squad for several more years but even if she doesn't put in an Omarlla-esque Jills career, she won't be done dancing by any means. She's actually working on her Bachelor's Degree in dance and hoping to land a career in dance. As far as what kind of career she'll be involved in is a decision to be made in a few years but besides her schooling and the Jills, she's also very active in ballet. There is more to Emily than her dance skills and her obvious beauty, though. The Jills held 2 Open Practices last year at which the Jills work with little girls hoping to learn a little from the pros. Part of what the Jills organization expects from the Jills is the ability to do well with the little girls in Open Practices, cheerleading camps, and the Jr Jills program. Emily seemed to stand out at the November Open Practice however, in how she interacted with the youngsters. She has her own baby sister who may one day take after her and she seemed to treat each of the little girls she was working with as if they were her little sisters. Considering how much she loves her baby sister, that's definitely a great thing.

When Emily tried out for the squad last March, she ended up being paired up with returning alumnus Anna and she showed her dance skills in nailing the routine.

Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

This week’s 1st Jills photo of The Week comes from Jills 1st cuts and features a mixture of dancers and ambassadors. However, with the exception of the incomparable Murissa, they all spent last season as Jills Ambassadors. From left to right in the back we have 3rd year dancer Murissa, 2nd year ambassador Ruby, 2nd year vet and 1st year dancer Nicole, 2nd year ambassador Alyssa, 2nd year vet and 1st year dancer Kristen, and 2nd year ambassador Courteney. 2nd year ambassador Lindsay and 4th year ambassador Laura pose in the front.

Our second photo comes from the Saturday Bills draft party held for season ticket holders at the Bills Fieldhouse and features a pair of beautiful rookie dancers on the Jills. We already introduced you to Emily, a girl who had a pretty good birthday this year, having spent it at the Jills’ 1st major event of the season, their Open Practice at the Fieldhouse at the start of June. Jen is one of the youngest girls on the squad and wasted little time in trying out for the Jills almost as soon as she turned 18, it seems. Judging by her already stunning good looks and knowing that Buffalo Jills generally get better looking as they age, it’s kinda scary how beautiful she’ll likely get over the course of her Jills career.

From the Bandettes, we have a photo from the Pearl Street Postgame party following the April 10th game against the Toronto Rock. Following the win, several Bandettes celebrated with players and fans alike with dinner and, for those over 21, drinks. Shown seated here are Chelsea, Jessica, Meghan, and Stephanie. Chelsea and Stephanie were rookies this year while Jessica finished up her 3rd season and Meghan her 5th and likely final season.

Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

This week's first Jills photo comes from the Jills Open Practice held at the Fieldhouse on June 1. It's a pretty cool event in which youngsters can spend a couple of hours learning a little bit from the Jills (sort of a really short Jr Jills experience) and fans and family can watch as well. From left to right are Reena, Stacy, and Eileen. Reena is a rookie dancer as well as a law student and came to tryouts with Stacy who, as many may know already, is a returning alumnus. Stacy was on the Jills for part of 2007, leaving early due to scheduling conflicts. Even her short time on the squad was enough to garner her some serious fans (besides me) at appearances like the Jills softball game that summer. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/buffalojills2005/2007/Softball%20Game/26.jpg
Eileen, of course, is in her 3rd year as a captain, after several as a co-captain, in her 11th year on the squad!

The Jills' 2nd photo comes from the Saturday Draft party held at the Bills' Fieldhouse and features rookie Emily with 2nd year vet Nicole. Emily, on the dance squad this year, was one of the first rookies we met at the 1st rd of cuts when she requested a photo with Kristen and Nicole. Nicole, of course, is switching over to the dance squad after spending last year as an ambassador.
From the Bandettes, we have a photo from the April 3 game against the Colorado Mammoth. The Bandettes unveiled some new outfits in the 2nd half and posed for photos from a number of cameras before performing for the crowd at the end of the 3rd quarter.
