Buffalo Jill of The Week Loren

This week, we take a look at 4th year vet Loren as our Buffalo Jill of The Week. In her 2nd year as a co-captain, this year assisting Christina from her spot  between Katie B and Alyssa K, Loren is one of the most talented of all the Jills. Sure she's a great dancer, but she's also a gifted choreographer and, on her own as well as with the assistance of former squadmate Natalie, has put together a handful of artistic dance routines the past few years. Personally, I'd kind of like to see what kind of collaboration Loren could do with Jills choreographer Kelli Wagner, mixing Kelli's "snap-and-flash" style with Loren's more fluid styles. It wouldn't be the 1st time she helped choreograph something for the Jills as she, Alyssa B, and former squadmate Kelly L put together an impromptu routine for 2009's Tailgate Warriors Show. But there's a lot more to her than dancing as she's also a gifted photographer and an outstanding leader, not only with her squadmates, even before getting named co-captain, but with her two younger siblings. You can read more about Loren at http://buffalojills.com/profile.php?PID=72 Loren's secondary photo is from the Jills' Optional Workshop held at Catalyst Fitness in Depew before 1st cuts. Shown posing for a photo in their matching outfits before all the potential Jills started arriving are Valerie, Lisa, and Loren.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Loren

This week, we take a look at 3rd year vet Loren as our Buffalo Jill of The Week. Spending her gamedays dancing on Valerie's line next to Melissa and Krystin, Loren takes on the responsibilities of being a co-captain this season. This was no big surprise to me in the least that she would get the job, either. At the Jills' Open Practice last November, while Kelli was going over some stuff with the captains, it was Loren who led everyone else through stretching exercises to get them ready for practice. Part of what made her a great fit for the job is the fact that she spent 16 years in competitive dance and she's also used to leading and setting an example for others. She's a proud big sister of a brother and a sister and seems to be willing, from what I've noticed, to do anything for her little sister especially. I wouldn't be surprised to see her sister follow Loren in her footsteps in another decade and a half or so because of how much she looks up to her. Since becoming a Buffalo Jill, she's become a much more confident and mature young lady and was one of the girls who took not one, but two trips to the Middle East last year to visit the troops. You can read more about Loren at http://buffalojills.net/article.asp?id=1961222 Loren's secondary photo is from the Bills Home Opener against the Raiders. Some of the Jills were posing for photos in the tunnel before heading out for pregame. Shown here are Myesha, Loren, and Valerie.

As a co-captain, Loren didn't need to tryout so instead we'll put up a look back at her tryout video from last season when she and Gabrielle performed together at 1st cuts!

Buffalo Jill of The Week Loren

This week, we take a look at 2nd year vet Loren as our Jill of The Week. Anchoring one end of Omarlla's line next to Brianne on gamedays, Loren probably made the biggest transition from rookie to vet without switching squads. Just from my view from photographing her and talking with her, she's become a much more confident and mature young lady since last season and seems really excited to continue cheering with the Jills. She's embraced many aspects of the role and is currently on a tour with 7 other Jills in the Middle East visiting the troops after having gone on the Iraq trip just a couple of months ago. During the Jills Open Practice in November, while the captains were working on some stuff with Kelli, Loren headed up stretching exercises for everyone else there. The fact that she's done so well should be no surprise however as she spent 16 years as a competitive dancer, and she only just turned 21 recently. Even with the increased confidence and maturity, she's still just as delightful a girl to have around and hopefully she'll be cheering on the sidelines of the Ralph for several more years. She definitely has a great role model in her captain as Omarlla's been not only a great Buffalo Jill throughout her time on the squad, but a great teacher away from the sidelines as well, something Loren is working towards herself. Loren's secondary photo is from prior to the Thanksgiving weekend game against the Steelers and features Natalie and Loren posing together in Lot C prior to the Jills' tailgate performance.

From tryouts, we have the video that we featured last week with Gabrielle, as Gabby and Loren danced together.

Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

Continuing our look at the beautiful young women who will be gracing the sidelines and tailgate parties this fall, we bring you a photo from the Open Workshop where prospective 2010 Buffalo Jills learned what they needed to know to make the squad. Captains, of course, didn't need to try out to make the squad and were on hand at the workshop to help the prospective Jills learn what they needed to and here is a pair of them. Omarlla and Eileen need no introduction to anyone who's followed the Jills this millennium as they'll be going into their 11th seasons together. I remember when they were cute rookies and now look at them. I thought women were supposed to lose their looks as they age...not get even better like these two have. Their 10th season together was a record-setter and the Bills posted up a nice story about them the day before the final game of the season. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/Two-Jills-celebrate-ten-seasons/f02bf342-f924-466c-9426-591a2b3e7368

Our second photo comes from the Bills Open Practice held at the stadium a few weeks ago. Members of the Jills dance squad greeted fans as they came through the gates while handing them rosters and schedules as well as posing for pictures and signing autographs. After that, they took to the field for their 1st large scale performance on the Ralph Wilson Stadium turf as seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xqttC-RmtE Shown posing for a photo here are Natalie and Loren. Natalie is a rookie on the squad and was the girl the Buffalo Bills chose to write a blog about the audition process. You can check it out at http://buffalojills.net/article.asp?id=1761784. Loren is in her 2nd season on the squad and as seen on Sundays, is quite the energetic dancer. No big surprise given her 16 years in competitive dancing.

Your next chance to meet Omarlla, Eileen, Natalie, and Loren along with the entire Buffalo Jills squad is the 8th Annual Buffalo Jills Golf Tournament. This year's event is being held August 2 at Williamsville's Westwood Country Club. Check out all the details at http://buffalojills.net/Article.asp?id=1834972&spid=34534

From the Bandettes comes a photo from after the April game against the Colorado Mammoth. Shown smiling for the camera are Kirsten, Alexis, and Chelsea. Kirsten and Alexis just finished their 2nd seasons on the squad while Chelsea was a rookie in 2010. Following each home game, Pearl Street Grill and Brewery has hosted a post-game party following every Bandits home game and several Bandits players as well as Bandettes dancers are in attendance every game.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Loren

This week's Jill of The Week is the delightful Loren. She spent the season dancing on Christina's line between Jennifer and Lynn and is currently working towards becoming a high school science teacher. Before joining the Jills, Loren spent 16 of her 20 years as a competitive dancer. Thankfully, as an NFL cheerleader, she still gets to do a lot of serious dancing in addition to cheering on the sidelines. All those years dancing has given her a lot to draw on with respect to the Jills. It's allowed her to pick up routines relatively easily and even helped her, with Kelly, to make up a routine almost on the spot for the Tailgate Warriors show that was filmed before the preseason opener against the Bears this year. Unfortunately, the footage to the video of that routine didn't make the final cut of the episode but let me assure you that Loren, Kelly, and Alyssa did a great job with it. Beyond that, she's got a bit of a silly side to her and spent a couple of years as a photographer herself. Maybe one of these days she can even contribute some photography to the blog as well.

The Jills at the Mayville Labor Day Festival

Obviously everyone knows about the Jills cheering on the Bills and their large popular events. But not everyone realizes how in demand they are for smaller events and appearances as well. Mayville, NY, on the shores of Chautauqua Lake, is holding a Labor Day Festival this weekend before a large fireworks show in the evening that will be seen not only throughout the region but from the International Space Station as well! Various communities around Chautauqua Lake are coordinating the pyrotechnics displays through local radio station SE93. Mayville went a step further than other communities though as Jills rookies Kelly and Loren were on hand in the afternoon to sign autographs and pose for pictures with the festival's attendees.
The Jills are staying plenty busy before returning to the Ralph for the Bills Home Opener on the 20th with appearances in Clarence's Labor Day parade, at 97Rock's weekly car show in Williamsville, at Bada Bing for the Blondes Vs Brunettes draft party, and Septemberfest at Merritt Estate Winery just to name a few in the next week! Stay tuned to http://buffalojills.net/appearances/index.php and the Buffalo Pro Cheer Blog for the info on many upcoming Jills appearances.

Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week!

Continuing our look at the beautiful rookies who will be gracing the sidelines at Ralph Wilson Stadium this fall, we have a photo from the recent Kid's Day preseason game.
Prior to the game, Food Network filmed a special starring Guy Fieri on tailgating. Obviously, no tailgating show would be complete without the Commissioner of Tailgating, Joe Cahn. Here we see him posing with Jills rookies Kelly, Loren, and Alyssa. Kelly and Loren are both dancers, Kelly on Omarlla's line and Loren cheering on Nicole's line. Alyssa is an ambassador but she still has some dance moves. One of the segments filmed was a feature on the CBNG Tailgate and these 3 young ladies put together an impromptu cheer and dance for CBNG and if we're lucky, we'll see the finished product on TV when the special airs on Food Network on October 17th.

From the Bandettes, we have a photo from the matchup against the Portland Lumberjax in their last ever appearance at HSBC Arena after that team unfortunately ceased operations recently. Prior to the home games, after their posters are released, the Bandettes spend about an hour signing those posters as well as other Bandits gear for the fans. While waiting for the next fan to reach them, we see Jessica and Karla mugging for the camera. Jessica was in her 2nd season on the squad after 4 years in the US Navy. Karla was in her 2nd season BACK on the squad after taking 2 years off following 5 seasons on the Bandettes.
