Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

Current Ambassador Squad captain Laura w/ then captain Kelly H at 2007 Bills-Bengals game
I started up this site in 2001 but didn't get that involved until 2005. A big part of why I decided to get more involved is because, at that time, only 2 girls on the 2005 squad even knew me that well. The 1st was then-6th year vet and current coordinator Nichole. The 2nd was then Ambassador Squad Captain Kelly H. Kelly spent 7 seasons as a Buffalo Jill and out of all the girls I've worked with, she probably had the most personality out of all of them. She was pretty much always sporting a smile, even when she "scolded me" if I got a shot of her blinking...she knew I did it just to get a reaction. She was one of the Jills' military members as a recruiter in the US Air Force and even received an award for being the top recruiter in her squadron.

LB and Chrissy at the Bandettes Meet and Greet
From the Bandettes comes a photo from the Bandettes Meet and Greet held at Cobblestone the night after the Bandits Open Practice. Shown posing for the camera are Lauren B and Chrissy. LB, in her 3rd year on the squad, was a captain and was probably the most vocal girl on the squad. Quite a departure from her rookie year when she was the quietest. Chrissy was in her 2nd year on the Bandettes in 2012 and went from quiet here rookie year to being a lot more talkative this year. I, for one, will be interested to see how much more outgoing she becomes in 2013.
Laura's 3rd episode deals with communication for a new couple and features input from Courteney and Alyssa

Buffalo Jill of The Week Kelly

This week, we take a look at one of the long-time vets on the squad as our Jill of The Week. Kelly has been with the Jills Ambassador Squad since 2002 and captain of that squad since 2004. Unfortunately, we didn't see her at many games this year but she was still present at practices helping the squad prepare for games, events, and appearances. She's a former Air Force recruiter who won an award for being tops in her squadron. That should be no surprise for any of us who know her. She's got an extremely outgoing personality and besides being extremely easy on the eyes, she's even easier to get along with. But a big thing that made her an excellent recruiter and makes her an outstanding captain is her ability to know when to be serious. While she loves to have fun and loves her life, she's also very meticulous about her work and a bit of a perfectionist. You can read more about Kelly at http://www.buffalojills.net/bios/kellyH.html and don't forget to check out her 97Rock Photo Album at http://www.97rock.com/Article.asp?id=1076170&spid=21993

Buffalo Jills Photos of The Week

This week's pictures come from this year's Buffalo Jills Congratulatory Party. This was an event, started a few years ago, meant to introduce the new Jills to the public, and allow the public to not only meet the new squad members, but see the returning vets as well. It usually takes place at the end of April or beginning of May so don't be afraid to set aside a few Saturday nights for next spring. But before we think about next year, let's take a look at a few pics from this year's event.
The 1st pic features rookies Kristin M and Brandi. All I can say about Kristin so far is that she's kind of a quiet and reserved girl, at least at first. Brandi should be no stranger to anyone who's been to Jills events, or at least looking at pictures from them, the last few years. She's had some friends on the squad, like Omarlla, and even gave it a shot trying out a few years back. Thankfully, she never gave up and made the squad this year.

The 2nd pic features Liz, Kelly, Alison, Danielle, and Sarah. Kelly and Danielle need no introduction as they're the captains of the Jills Ambassador Squad. Kelly's been with the squad since 2002 and Danielle is in her first season as Kelly's co-captain and her 3rd year with the Jills. Rookie Liz is a psych major and Alison is one of her closest friends. Rookie Sarah is one of our two Canadians on the squad and the two Toronto games are basically going to be in her backyard.

Of course, you won't have to wait until football season to meet these, and other, rookies. July 12th and 13th is the Annual Taste of Buffalo festival in Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo and you'll find mostly rookies at the 97Rock, Bills, and 103.3 The Edge booths at the event both days. And July 21st at Fox Valley Country Club is a time you can meet not only the entire group of rookies, but all the vets as well at the 6th Annual Buffalo Jills Golf Tournament. So if you're a golfer, or just trying to be, that's the date to take a vacation day.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Kelly

This week, we take a look at the captain of the Ambassador Squad. Ambassador Jills are required to have a strong ability to professionally mingle and converse with others. What that entails is someone whose personality not only puts people around her at ease, but actually draws people to her. Anyone who knows Kelly knows that she fits that definition perfectly. She can be as zany and nuts as anyone else at a party but also knows when to turn that part of her off and be serious when the situation calls for it. Those personality attributes served her well in the military as she spent 9 1/2 years with the US Air Force and spent a portion of that time recruiting others into the service as well. You can read more about Kelly at http://www.buffalojills.net/bios/kelly.html

Jills Co-captains announced

In addition to each squad on the field having a returning captain who doesn't have to try out for the squad and is in charge of making sure her squad is lined up properly, does the routines, etc, they also have co-captains...in case the captain can't make the game and to help coordinate things out there on the field. Jills practices have been going on ever since the squad was selected and it wasn't that long ago that girls were put into their squad assignments and co-captains are selected.
  • Joining 8-year vet Omarlla will be fellow 8-year vet Eileen as her co-captain once again.
  • Also returning as co-captain will be Nicole P, last year's Swimsuit Calendar covergirl and 4th year vet. This year she moves over to 6th year vet Jamie R's line.
  • That leaves Pro Bowl Jill Aimee without a co-captain and selected as her co-captain this year is 3rd year vet Katie K. Congratulations Katie!
  • On the Ambassador Squad, 5th year vet Kelly will be handling the captain duties on her own.
