Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

Ayeshia and Nicole at 2009 Calendar Release Party
This week, we take a look back at Jills alum Nicole P, who spent 5 1/2 years with the Buffalo Jills in a career spanning from 2004-2009. After a few years as a co-captain, she got named captain in 2008, the season after she got to go to Hawaii as the Jills' representative in the Pro Bowl. Among Nicole's other accomplishments are landing the cover of the 2006-09 Jills Swimsuit Calendar and getting selected to participate in the Hispanic version of Family Feud when the show featured NFL Cheerleaders.

From the Bandettes comes a photo from the 1st Annual Dance Fair and Expo where the Bandettes and Jills both performed. Shown posing for the camera are 4 of 2012's rookies. Stephanie C, Carissa, Alicia, and Lauren K may have been rookies in 2012 but I find it hard to believe any of them won't be back in 2013 after all the fun they had dancing on the NLL's premier dance team this past spring.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Nicole P

This week, we take a look at an early departure from the 2009 Buffalo Jills. Nicole P was in her 6th season on the squad and her 2nd as a full captain this season, heading up the line that Pro Bowler Christina has taken over in her absence. Her career on the Jills has a number of highlights, including her own trip to the Pro Bowl 2 years ago and the honor of the cover of the 2006-07 Buffalo Jills Swimsuit Calendar. She also appeared on "Que dice la gente," a Hispanic version of the Family Feud. It was a special edition of the show where the participants were all NFL Cheerleaders. As a Spanish teacher, she was an easy selection for the show. Even before joining the Jills, she was an accomplished young lady with a number of Outstanding Performance awards at National dance competitions like Showstoppers and Starpower. She even won an Outstanding Overall Achievement Award at a Showstoppers National Dance Competition. You can read more about Nicole at http://buffalojills.net/roster/nicoleP.php

Buffalo Jills Captains for 2009-2010 announced!

Every spring, while we anticipate Jills tryouts and get ready to see a lot of new beautiful faces on the squad, we also have to come to the realization that not everyone from the previous year will be returning. Thankfully, last year's departures were all by choice and we can only hope that holds true again this year as well. On that note though, there are a few new faces in among the captains for the upcoming season. Two of the Jills' longtime captains, both with the squad since 2002, will be moving on. For the last several years, no captain has been better at getting group photos for her line than Jamie, a Pro Bowler following the 2004 season. She won't be a stranger though as she already assured me she'll still be showing up to events for a long time to come. The Ambassador Squad has thrived under Kelly's leadership, who's been their captain since 2004. She was such a strong leader, she was running the group without a co-captain for the latter half of 2006 and all of 2007. Both of these ladies will definitely be missed.
With the departure of captains, however, the opportunity for others to rise into their places presents itself and the Jills now have 2 new captains and 2 new co-captains. Katie K has been with the Jills since 2005, the last remaining member of that rookie class and is entering her 3rd year as a co-captain. She's shifted around on lines each of her years in the role. She started out as Aimee's co-captain in 2007 before moving to Nicole's line this past season. This year, she moves over to Omarlla's line, who's been with the Jills since 2000 and hopefully sticking around for several more years. Katie's move to Omarlla's line slides last year's newest co-captain over to Nicole's line. Christina has been with the squad since 2006 and has had a promising career on the squad almost from the start. In 2006, the Jills events featured dance routines performed by a select group, and Christina was the only rookie from that group. Nicole enters her 2nd season as a captain after spending the previous year as a co-captain. In 2006, she landed the cover of the Jills swimsuit calendar and then was named to the Pro Bowl the following year.
The big changes are really happening on the other lines. After serving as Jamie's co-captain this past year after 2 years with Omarlla, 10th year vet and 2005-06 Pro Bowler Eileen gets her own line. Like Omarlla, Eileen just keeps geeting better every season and we can only hope she continues on like her rookie squadmate for many years to come. Eileen's promotion opens up a spot for a co-captain and chosen for that role will be Jill D. Going into her 3rd season on the squad, Jill's warm and loving personality makes her a great fit with Eileen and we should expect great things for years to come.
The Ambassador Squad's new captain should come as no surprise. 2006 rookie Danielle proved her mettle this season as a co-captain in a big way as she ran things on gamedays while Kelly did her part at practices and meetings. Danielle is one of the biggest reasons the 2008 Buffalo Jills squad has been so close-knit and we expect that to continue in 2009. Another 2007 rookie will be getting the call as Danielle's co-captain as Keisha has been named to the position.  Keisha has been outgoing in an extraordinary way in supporting her squadmates. When Omarlla was on her own at a Rhino's appearance this past season, Keisha came along to keep her company and she even made sure that Jessica wasn't alone in Hawaii earlier this month. With that kind of dedication to her squadmates, Keisha should be an excellent fit as co-captain.
Obviously, as captains and co-captains, these 8 young women will be leading the 2009-2010 Jills through their paces all season long but it goes beyond that. They also have proven themselves enough that they don't need to go through the regular tryout process themselves. During the Open Workshop (closed to the public), they'll be on hand to answer questions and help demonstrate routines to prospective Buffalo Jills. During the tryouts themselves, they'll be helping out with answering questions and giving moral support to veterans and rookies alike. The tryouts as well will be closed to the public with one exception. 1st cuts for the dance squad and 2nd cuts for the Ambassador Squad will be held at the Town Ballroom on Sunday, April 5th from 1pm until about 4pm. Admission is $5 and this will be the public's chance to get a first hand look at what goes into the making of the Buffalo Jills Squad. Obviously, whether you're attending to support a friend or family member or just going to see tryouts, we ask that you show all the participants proper respect as their performances require a lot of concentration on the dancers' parts.
Stay tuned to http://www.buffalojills.net/audition.html 97Rock, 103.3 The Edge, Mix 104.1, CW23 and the Buffalo Pro Cheer Blog for further news on Jills tryouts.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Nicole

This week, we take a look at the newest Jills captain as our Jill of The Week. This is Nicole's 5th season on the squad and spent 2 seasons as a co-captain before getting promoted to running her own line this year. It should be no surprise that she got the gig, either. Besides landing the cover of the calendar 2 seasons ago, she cheered later than any of her squadmates last season due to her selection to the Pro Bowl and cheered on the AFC to a 31-28 win over the NFC in February. But before all that, she started dancing at the age of 3 and performed in many National level dance competitions and received a variety of awards for outstanding performance. Vote for Nicole, tryouts, Bandettes

First of all, there's a website out there that's running a poll for people to vote for their favorite Pro Bowl Cheerleader at http://www.angelfire.com/nj/nflcheer/probowl08.html Obviously, there's only one right way to vote...for Nicole. This 4th year vet was voted to represent her squad at the Pro Bowl by her squadmates this past season and will hopefully be back in 2008 to continue cheering on the Bills...and maybe share a few memories from Hawaii.
Speaking of being back in 2008, here's just another reminder that Jills tryouts are coming up
All audition dates are closed to the public. Only young ladies participating in auditions will be permitted in audition area. Videotapes are not accepted for auditions, all candidates must be able to attend all audition dates in person.
There is an open, required workshop for all interested Dancer and Ambassador Jills on Sunday, March 30th, 2008 at 10am. Ending time will be determined by number of attendee’s. Please come early to check-in. The actual audition dance routine will be taught at this workshop as well as learning all the requirements for both the Dance squad AND the Ambassador squad. There is no fee for this 1st workshop. You will not be judged at this workshop however; it is still important that you look your best because video and photos are taken. There will be a short question and answer period during this workshop to help you understand what to expect throughout auditions and what is expected of a Buffalo Jill.
Please keep in mind that if you missed the cut in a previous year, that doesn't mean you can't make it this year. Just from the 2007 squad, we have Amanda P, Autumn, Katie K, Keisha, Amanda F, Katherine, and Lisa who didn't make the squad their first time out but came back and nailed spots on the roster. Katie K even made co-captain this past season.
Also, just a reminder for anyone going to see the Bandettes at this weekend's game against Philadelphia, gates are opening at 6pm as opposed to the old 6:30 time. The reason for this...Bandettes posters will be available and the squad will be stationed at the top of the east bank of escalators to sign them from shortly after 6 until about 7pm. Make sure you show up early because we will have to cut the line off by 7 so the squad can make it to their locker room in time to get ready for their pregame performance.

The Jills' 2007-2008 Pro Bowler is....

Nicole! She's a 4th year veteran and is serving as Jamie's co-captain this year. If you recognize those eyes, maybe you were fortunate enough to get last year's swimsuit calendar with her on the cover. At the final home game of the season, when the Jills will likely be wearing Santa outfits, she'll be wearing a lei wreath as well, signifying her Pro Bowl berth, as elected by her squadmates recently. The Pro Bowl, to take place on Sunday, February 10, in Aloha Stadium in Honolulu will be televised on FOX. But beyond the Pro Bowl itself, Nicole will be present at many of the Pro Bowl festivities during that prior week. There are events like the Alumni game and the QB challenge that the Pro Bowl Cheerleaders are cheering at that will be televised the weekend of the Pro Bowl.
Congratulations to Nicole and don't feel too guilty when you're in the sun and sand in Hawaii while the rest of us are buried in snow....because you deserve this!

Buffalo Jill of The Week Nicole

This week, we take a look at last year's swimsuit calendar covergirl, Nicole P. This is her fourth year on the squad and is once again a co-captain, this year assisting Jamie after a season on Aimee's line. Besides the obvious about Nicole, like her dancing and beauty, there's more about her that's not as obvious to those who don't know her. She's fluent in Spanish and plans to teach the language in the near future. And, if all goes according to plan, she may be able to also teach Italian if needed, something that will only help expand her marketability as a foreign languages teacher. Beyond that, she was selected as a participant in ¿Qué Dice La Gente?, a spanish-speaking gameshow similar to Family Feud aired on TeleFutura (431 on DirecTV). This was part of a special episode featuring NFL Cheerleaders. You can read more about Nicole at http://buffalojills.net/bios/nicolep.html

Buffalo Jill of The Week Nicole P

With eyes as deep as the water she was posing in on the last swimsuit calendar's cover, Nicole P is our latest Jill of The Week. 2007 will be her 4th on the squad and her dance skills show no signs of diminishing. Of course, 15 years at the Lorraine Goddard Dance Studio aren't going to be forgotten anytime soon. The studio prides itself on the fact that many of their students have gone on to professional dance careers and Nicole, whose future plans include teaching, chose to instead utilize her what she's learned for the fans of the Buffalo Bills. Don't let that make you think she couldn't have gone on to a pro dance career or anything. She did, afterall, win an Outstanding Overall Achievement Award at a Showstoppers National Dance Competition, a competition that boasts several big name former competitors like Britney Spears, LeAnn Rimes, as well as members of boy bands Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. You can read more about Nicole in the files section of the webgroup (registration required) and don't forget to check out her sizzling hot photos on FCI's website. http://fishercreativeimage.com/Jills/individual.html#nicole

Jills Co-captains announced

In addition to each squad on the field having a returning captain who doesn't have to try out for the squad and is in charge of making sure her squad is lined up properly, does the routines, etc, they also have co-captains...in case the captain can't make the game and to help coordinate things out there on the field. Jills practices have been going on ever since the squad was selected and it wasn't that long ago that girls were put into their squad assignments and co-captains are selected.
  • Joining 8-year vet Omarlla will be fellow 8-year vet Eileen as her co-captain once again.
  • Also returning as co-captain will be Nicole P, last year's Swimsuit Calendar covergirl and 4th year vet. This year she moves over to 6th year vet Jamie R's line.
  • That leaves Pro Bowl Jill Aimee without a co-captain and selected as her co-captain this year is 3rd year vet Katie K. Congratulations Katie!
  • On the Ambassador Squad, 5th year vet Kelly will be handling the captain duties on her own.
