Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

Desiree and Amanda at last year's postgame party
This week, we take a look at the BvB player with the least time served on the Buffalo Jills. Desiree was only with the squad a few months but that short time was still long enough to make an impact on some children she met at the Taste of Buffalo in 2005, one of whom wanted to be like her when she grew up. Needless to say, that was easily the highlight of her Jills career. Originally from New Orleans, she spent 9 years cheerleading and 2 in gymnastics and is now in her 2nd year with the BvB organization. You can donate to the BvB though Desiree at http://act.alz.org/site/TR/BvB/NY-WesternNewYork?px=6262354&pg=personal&fr_id=2194 Desiree will be one of the ladies you can bid on for a date at the BvB Kickoff Party and Bachelorette Auction on Aug 17th with a date package that includes. among other things, a Swedish Massage at Excuria Salon and Spa, a WNY Sky Diving Gift Certificate, a $100 Gift Certificate to Tempo, and a whole lot more!

Alicia, Stephanie C, Lauren K, and Stephanie G at the 1st Annual Dance Fair and Expo
From the Bandettes comes a photo from the 1st Annual Dance Fair and Expo held this past March. Shown posing for the camera are Alicia, Stephanie C, Lauren K, and Stephanie G. With the exception of Stephanie G, who just finished her 3rd and final year on the Bandettes, all these girls were rookies in 2012 and I have a hard time imagining they won't all be returning for 2013 with tryouts being announced in September.
From Jills Ambassador Squad captain Laura comes her 2nd episode, in which she, Courteney, and Jacki talk about 1st date tips. Get involved with the program at http://tellmehowyoureallyfeel.net/

Photos from the Blondes Vs Brunettes Beer Blast

Desiree (2005), Jenn (1997-2004), and Danielle (1998-2002)
The Blondes Vs Brunettes series is now in its 4th year in Buffalo and, like usual, there are a number of Buffalo Jills alumni involved in it this year. To help raise more funds for the organization, which supports the Alzheimer's Association of Western NY, the BvB held a Beer Blast at Kronie's on Elmwood Avenue in Kenmore Friday evening. Three of the now five Jills alumni signed up were in attendance for the event which packed up Kronie's patio area as well as the indoor area of the bar. In addition to Danielle, in her 4th year, Jenn and Amanda, in their 3rd years, and Desiree, in her 2nd year, Julie L, who spent 1997-2002 on the sidelines as a member and a captain on the Buffalo Jills, is newly registered with the BvB to play for the brunettes in this year's game.

Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week

Jess L and Stefanie at the 2008 Fundraiser
Stefanie J spent 5 years with the Buffalo Jills, dancing on the sidelines from 2006-2010. Stefanie had a pretty eventful career with the Jills, starting with 2 trips to the Middle East visiting the troops in Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan. In addition, she showed off her gymnastic abilities most of her career with the Jills but had to hold off on that and performing in general early in 2009 when she was sidelined with a foot injury. And who says cheerleading isn't a sport?  Her friendships on the squad and the thrill of performing are what kept her going, as well as the ability to watch her team play from as close to the action as you can get. Out of all the Jills I've covered since I started working closely with the squad, Stefanie had to be one of the, if not the, most focused on how the game on the field is going. She would've probably lined up and played if she could've gotten away with it just to ensure a win!

Ashley and Kirsten at NLL All-Star game
From the Bandettes comes a photo from the NLL All-Star game held in February at the First Niagara Center. Shown in a photo taken just prior to the Bandettes' 3rd intermission performance are 4th year vets Ashley and Kirsten.  After 3 years dancing, Ashley headed up the newly-formed Ambassador Squad in 2012, a trio of Bandettes who focused on suite visits and pregame parties while the dancers were able to concentrate more on the dancing. Long Island-born Kirsten spent her 4th season as a captain after spending the bulk of last year as a co-captain before finishing the season as an acting captain after the departure of a few members of the squad.
