The Jills at the final Edge Away Game party of the year

The Bills' 2009 season drawing to a close brings up a lot of positives as well as negatives for the fans. Some of the positives are things like only one more week of poor football being played and an opportunity for players to get healthy and the team to get re-tooled for the 2010 season. There's also all the memories that were created, some bad and many good. Among the good were the Edge Away Game Parties held at the Aud Sports Bar and Grill in Depew, which featured great food, drink and wing specials, lots of prizes, and visits from a pair of Buffalo's beautiful Jills cheerleaders.

Among the negatives though, is the fact that some of these same Buffalo Jills might not return next season and next week's home finale is the last chance to see some of them. There are 3 of the 37, at least, who have already decided they won't be returning in 2010 and while we can hope they each reconsider (hint, hint), we know many move on whether we like it or not and all we can do is wish them well. There's also the chance that they could return in the future and that brings us to the pair of Jills who were at the Aud for the final Edge Away Game Party of the season. Kaitlin and Michelle are Jills dancers who each spent time with the squad in 2007 but not in 2008. Kaitlin is known as a former Ambassador who made the move to the dance squad this year while Michelle gets a lot of notice every week with her tumbling abilities on display during many routines and performances. They both, thankfully, have plans to be back in 2010 at the present time.

http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/buffalojills2005/2009/Falcons-Road/

While the game itself may not be the most fantastic thing to watch next week, the Jills always put on great performances no matter how the Bills are doing. Members of the Ambassador Squad can be found at the 97Rock and 103.3 The Edge Tailgate parties prior to the game starting at about 10am posing for photos and selling some of their smoking hot Swimsuit Calendars. You can also catch a couple of them inside the Fieldhouse shortly after it opens meeting the fans and even playing a bit of Family Feud as well. But don't wait until the last minute to get inside the stadium as the Jills put on a fantastic pregame performance before the players come out on the field for the game. With captains Omarlla, Eileen, and Christina, the Jills lines will be performing all game long in addition to a big performance between the 3rd and 4th quarters. Why am I telling you, the loyal readers, all this? This may be the last time you'll see some of these girls perform and I know, I for one, will be saddened by this. While the brand of football displayed by the Bills most of the season has been unwatchable, the Jills performances by the dancers as well as the Ambassadors has more than made up for that.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Jill

This week, we take a look at one of the Jills' co-captains on the squad in 3rd year vet Jill. Yep, that's right. Jill the Jill....she's heard that joke on an almost daily basis the past 2 1/2 years but still takes it in stride. Found on gamedays as Eileen's co-captain between Joya and Angelina, Jill's bright smile is only a part of what sets her apart from most young women her age. She has her goofy side and even, on occasion, makes goofy faces for the camera. She mostly comes across as pretty mature for her age and is pretty down to Earth with some strong moral values. She has 13 years of dance training under her belt, including 7 years in competition and even spent another 2 years near the Nation's Capital studying dance at George Mason University. You can read more about Jill at http://buffalojills.net/roster/jill.php

Christmassy Jills at the Bills-Pats game

This time of year is a time for giving and unfortunately, instead of giving their fans a happy holiday season, the Bills, with some help from some questionable officiating calls, gave away a game to the hated New England Patriots for a 13th straight time. Thankfully, this blog isn't about the game itself or else it wouldn't be very family friendly when describing the game, the officiating, and the fans who chose to disrupt the Bills offense with excessive noise during critical offensive plays that resulted in false starts.

Instead, this blog is about the beautiful ladies on the sidelines, who never have fans pulling out their hair or frustrated.  Well, there might be some frustration for guys when they fall in love with these young ladies but that can't be helped. Prior to the game, members of the Ambassador Squad were found at the 97Rock and 103.3 The Edge Tailgate parties as well as inside the Fieldhouse in their Santa's helper outfits posing for pictures and signing autographs for the fans. Prior to kickoff, 3rd year vet co-captain (and next week's Buffalo Pro Cheer Jill of The Week) Jill delivered the game ball before the entire squad performed to some Christmas music. They even did a big performance in the tunnel endzone to Christmas music as well still wearing their Santa hats with their winter gear. http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/buffalojills2005/2009/Pats%20game/

Coming up next, 103.3 The Edge is holding its final Away Game Party of the season on Sunday, December 27 as the Bills visit Atlanta to face off against the Falcons. The Aud Sports Bar and Grill in Depew is the place to be whether you haven't made it there this season or have been there before. This week, in addition to the large prize table, wing and drink specials, buffet, and visits by the Buffalo Jills, they'll be giving away a 47 inch TV. You must be present to win this prize so if you've been there and entered before during the season, you'll forfeit your chance to win this TV if you don't show up.

The Jills take the field at the Ralph one final time this season as the Bills host Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts. Gametime is currently set at 1pm for this matchup against former AFC East rivals. However, with the Colts possibly playing for a perfect season, there is a chance the game could be moved to a later start, news which would be announced no later than Monday, December 28th.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Nicole P

This week, we take a look at an early departure from the 2009 Buffalo Jills. Nicole P was in her 6th season on the squad and her 2nd as a full captain this season, heading up the line that Pro Bowler Christina has taken over in her absence. Her career on the Jills has a number of highlights, including her own trip to the Pro Bowl 2 years ago and the honor of the cover of the 2006-07 Buffalo Jills Swimsuit Calendar. She also appeared on "Que dice la gente," a Hispanic version of the Family Feud. It was a special edition of the show where the participants were all NFL Cheerleaders. As a Spanish teacher, she was an easy selection for the show. Even before joining the Jills, she was an accomplished young lady with a number of Outstanding Performance awards at National dance competitions like Showstoppers and Starpower. She even won an Outstanding Overall Achievement Award at a Showstoppers National Dance Competition. You can read more about Nicole at http://buffalojills.net/roster/nicoleP.php

Jills on The Edge and initial tryout dates set!

Back at the end of July, 103.3 The Edge, 1 of the Jills' primary sponsors, gave some of their normal weekend DJs some time off and brought in members of the Buffalo Jills to DJ for most of the weekend. The Jills all did pretty well and a few were really outstanding. They'll be doing that again for a chunk of this weekend as well. Tune in from 7pm-midnight Friday, 10am-midnight Saturday, and 7am-10am Sunday (they do still have game duties) to WEDG-FM at 103.3 on your radio tuner or listen online at http://www.wedg.com/

Also, even with the current NFL season still going on, it's never too early to start thinking about joining the 2010-2011 Buffalo Jills. The Open Workshop (closed to the public) will be held at the Conference Center of Niagara Falls at 10am on Sunday, March 14th, 2010. The workshop is free for all interested young ladies who want to possibly tryout for the squad and gives everyone a chance to learn the requirements of being on the squad in more detail. The audition dance routine is taught at this workshop as well. First cuts will be Saturday, March 20th and will be open to the public like this past year's were. Get all the details as they become available at http://buffalojills.net/appearances/details.php?recordID=70

The Jills at the Edge Away Game Party vs KC

With a 4-8 record and little shot at the playoffs, one would think that Bills fans would lose interest in watching their team in a meaningless game against the also-struggling Kansas City Chiefs. However, many diehard Bills fans didn't care that their team would soon be out of it as many of them not only watched the game, but went to the Aud Sports Bar in Depew to see it after a snowstorm hit the area only a few days ago.

The reason for fans filling the Aud was more than just seeing the game alongside fellow Bills fans. All season long, the Aud Sports Bar has been the host of 103.3 The Edge's Away Game Parties. With drink and wing specials, a halftime buffet, and the largest prize table in the region, fans flocked to the Transit Road location for not only those reasons, but a chance to meet a pair of beautiful members of the Buffalo Jills. This week, fans watched a Bills win over the Chiefs in the company of 2 Jills rookies. Kelly is a dancer on Omarlla's line during home games who, along with a pair of her squadmates, put together an impromptu routine for the Tailgate Warriors show filmed back in August that, sadly, didn't get on the show. Courteney is a member of the Ambassador Squad who is probably as cheerful as anyone on the squad. You can meet her at the 97Rock or 103.3 The Edge Tailgate next week before the Bills host the hated New England Patriots.

http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/buffalojills2005/2009/Chiefs-Road/

Next up, the Jills will be cheering on the Bills against the Patriots* and there are still plenty of seats left for the game so Bills fans can help the Jills cheer on the team in an upset win. With the turmoil going on in the Pats' locker room of late, the timing could be perfect for the Bills to tally their first win against their divisional rival since the 2003 Opener.

The Aud Sports Bar will be the place to be on Dec 27th, however, as not only a pair of Jills will be in attendance, but they'll be drawing for a new 47" television set. If you've entered at any time this year, you still need to be there to claim your prize.

The Bandettes at the 2010 Bandits Open Practice

When winter hits and football season starts winding down, the NLL is getting set to start another exciting season of indoor lacrosse. In Buffalo, where the Bills and Sabres have frustrated the fans of late, the Buffalo Bandits lacrosse team has done exactly the opposite, bringing home the NLL Championship 2 seasons ago. After a 2nd rd exit from the playoffs in 2009 however, the Bandits retooled a little and are making an attempt to reclaim the Champions Cup for Buffalo. But before they can do that, the team needs to practice and train and part of that is an Open Practice they put on each December for their loyal fans.

The Bandits team isn't all that changed as the Bandettes dance team went through some changes as well. A number of well-known faces have moved on in coach Erin J, Danielle, Karla, Sarah, Denise, and Maggie. Jaclyn takes over running the squad in 2010 with Erin Y moving up from dancer to head choreographer/asst coach. With the departures, 6 new faces take their places to join the established vets. 2 of these new faces aren't exactly new however as 2006-08 alumnus Beth returns to the squad after taking last year off due to scheduling conflicts. She's even getting an added role in her return, that of Justina's co-captain while Melissa moves over to Meghan's line to take the co-captain spot of the departed Danielle. The other familiar face spent the fall of 2008 at Ralph Wilson Stadium as a member of the Buffalo Jills. Lonna joins fellow rookies Lauren B, Chelsea, Stephanie, and Ashley V to round out the 14-girl squad intent on cheering on the Bandits to a 5th league title in 2010.

For their part of the Open Practice, the Bandettes put on a pair of dance performances, the 1st run giving a break to the players during practice and the 2nd at the end of practice, giving the players a little bit of time to get ready for a post-practice autograph session in the Arena's concourse. After the 2nd performance, the Bandettes went around the concourse to pose for photos and sign autographs while the players took some more time to get ready.

http://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b87/bandettes/2010/Open%20Practice/

Coming up next for the Bandettes is the Bandits Home Opener January 16 at 7:30 in HSBC Arena. The Bandits host their Thruway rivals, the Rochester Knighthawks, in the 2nd game of their season series after a road trip to Rochester's Blue Cross Arena on January 9th.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Kristen

This week, we continue with our look at some of the lovely rookie Jills Ambassadors on the squad with the beautiful Kristen. This soft-spoken young lady is working on her degree in biology and hoping to pursue a career as a physician’s assistant. Describing herself, she says she's happy, upbeat, caring and loving but her strongest quality is her postive attitude. Not an easy thing to do all the time when cheering for the Bills but she pulls it off as well as anyone on the squad and it's one of the things her squadmates love about her. Jessica and Valerie are the only other two that smile quite as much as Kristen does and, like with her more experienced squadmates, her smiling is infectious. In fact, since tryouts at the Town Ballroom in April, I can't recall seeing her without a smile on that pretty face, even in that muddy mess of a "tailgate party" in Toronto last week. She even went so far as to put a smiley face on her Jills bio...lol. But like so many of her squadmates, she loves cheerleading and the Bills and hopes the current playoff drought can end sooner rather than later. She thinks Buffalo fans are awesome and I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking the feeling is mutual.

When she's not cheering or taking classes, she enjoys the beach with her boyfriend (sorry, guys), whether it be swimming, jet-skiing, or just plain relaxing. She enjoys listening to most forms of music and funny movies and actually wishes she could change those pretty brown eyes of hers to blue. Personally, I don't think she should change a thing.

Christina to the Pro Bowl!

It's that time of year again, when NFL Cheerleaders select their Pro Bowl representatives, this year sending their representatives to Miami for the January 31st AFC-NFC All-Star game. This year's selection should be no surprise to anyone as it's 4th year vet and captain Christina. She started off her career as a Jill as the only rookie member of the Events Dance Team and also won the 2006 Rookie of The Year. In 2008, she was named a co-captain for Omarlla's line and moved over to Nicole's line this season. However, after Nicole resigned suddenly, Christina took over handling the captain duties on her own and doing a great job with it, obviously. This won't be Christina's 1st trip to Miami at the end of January. Three years ago, the Super Bowl was held there just like this year and a group of NFL Cheer squads sent a half-dozen girls each to compete in a Beauties on The Beach competition that the Jills, including Christina, did pretty well in.

Congratulations to Christina on a well-deserved honor!

The Jills at the Bills-Jets Game in Toronto

Last year, the Bills started an 8-game series of games in which they held some of their home games not at home in Ralph Wilson Stadium, but in the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario. The reasoning for the Bills In Toronto Series is to lure some big money corporations to buy up luxury boxes in Ralph Wilson Stadium. The Bills don't generally have a problem selling out games, even in the midst of a now 10-season playoff absence. Western NYers are well-known for their love of their sports teams. The Bills went 6 years leading the league in attendance during their Super Bowl run. The Buffalo Sabres have high attendance at all of their games and the Buffalo Bandits are annually among the leaders in attendance in the NLL. The only problem is the lack of big money corporations to buy luxury boxes and other premium seating. That's the hope of the Bills in Toronto series...to help draw the big money corporations down to Orchard Park, so that the Bills can afford to compete with the large market teams of the NFL when it comes to signing bonuses and expenditures not covered by the league's salary cap.

The whole idea is to give those big money people a taste of what the Bills have to offer and in all honesty, the Rogers Centre is ill-suited for that. People are paying premium prices for poor seating where the sightlines aren't suited for the NFL. In Ralph Wilson Stadium, there are great sightlines all over the stadium. There's also the lack of tailgating, something that Buffalo is known for. Buffalo, Green Bay, and Kansas City are always the top 3 NFL cities in regards to their tailgating. True tailgating has nothing to do with excessive alcohol consumption but everything to do with the feeling of community in the parking lots around the stadium as fans grill up their dinners and share with fellow tailgaters. Toronto doesn't allow tailgating, which detracts from the gameday experience. The Rogers Centre setup even affects the cheerleaders as well and not in a positive way. As anyone who's watched NFL cheerleaders a lot knows, there are 8 spots around the sidelines that each squad of cheerleaders perform during the game. Besides being stationed at each 10-yard line during the game, each squad also spends some time dancing in the end zone areas and the organizers at the Rogers Centre made one mistake when it comes to seating that prevented the Jills from dancing in the scoreboard endzone area by placing bleachers only a few yards away from the endzone. That deprived the fans in that endzone of seeing the Jills up close and they couldn't even look up behind them on the scoreboard and see them there because of the fact that it's placed above but in front of the endzone seating. In this blogger's opinion, a better way to sell these luxury boxes is a lot easier than moving games and upsetting the loyal fan base. Simply set aside a few luxury boxes that aren't selling for the purpose of giving these large corporations a taste of a real gameday experience. The luxury boxes are contracted for a period of a few years as it is. If there are some that aren't selling for a few years, sell them for individual games. Maybe those corporate types would be more inclined to buy luxury boxes if they saw what a real gameday experience was about...because they certainly aren't seeing it in the Rogers Centre atmosphere. Hopefully though, this Toronto series can help draw Canadian corporations to Buffalo. If nothing else, the wealthy people in Toronto buying up these tickets are hearing what a great experience a real Bills home game is from the fans who either already make the drive down to the Ralph on a regular basis or the diehards that make the trip up to Toronto.

Now that I'm done with that part, the game itself was nothing that Bills fans want to remember, and the poor sightlines at the Rogers Centre may have almost been a blessing for the Bills fans that made the trek to Toronto to see their team play in a neutral site alongside Jets fans as well as fans of the NFL in general. Before the game however, fans got a chance to meet one of the Bills all-time greats when HOF RB Thurman Thomas put in an appearance at the Budweiser Tailgate Party and, as well as signing autographs and posing for pictures, gave one lucky fan a ticket to the game....to sit with Thurman himself.

There was someone else at that Budweiser tailgate party that fans were happy to see as well, though. Keisha, Alyssa, Kristen, and Lindsay of the Buffalo Jills Ambassador Squad spent a few hours mingling with the fans as well as posing for pictures and signing autographs. They even sold a number of their smoking hot Swimsuit Calendar as well which features 41 beautiful ladies in some very sexy swimwear. To add to that, Omarlla, Eileen, Christina, Valerie, Jessica, and Lynn put in an appearance for photos and autographs and put on a performance on stage, showing off not only their beauty, but their dance moves for the hundreds of fans in attendance. When gametime came, the lovely Amanda delivered the game ball before joining with Alyssa to accompany Billy Buffalo on promotional visits around the stadium. Meanwhile, Omarlla, Eileen, and Christina led their squads around the stadium and put on a pair of big performances in the non-scoreboard endzone, where they had room to perform.

http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/buffalojills2005/2009/Jets-Toronto/

Coming up next for the Jills, some of the squad will be at Snowpark Niagara in Niagara Falls, NY Saturday from 10-1 in an event to benefit the Breast Cancer Association.
Don't forget to tune into 103.3 The Edge Wednesday morning from 7:30-8:30 to talk to Bull and one of the Jills for an hour-long interview.
The Bills are back on the road in Kansas City on Dec 13th as they try to improve on their 4-8 record and the best place to watch the game is the Aud Sports Bar in Depew. Wing and drink specials, a halftime buffet, and the largest prize table in Western NY are only a part of the draw as the event features a pair of the beautiful Buffalo Jills in attendance.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Lindsay

Despite what some of her friends have thought this season, our current Jill of The Week isn't a dancer, but a rookie member of the Ambassador Squad. From a little bit of a distance, some people have thought she was out there dancing on the sidelines when it was actually 4th year vet Valerie. The confusion has helped make the two of them pretty good friends, though. Lindsay is already an accomplished young lady with her BS in Early Childhood and Childhood Education and is also currently pursuing a master's in Literacy. If that's not enough, she's also a speed reader...a talent that will help this future teacher in grading papers quickly so she can go back to watching a movie with her longtime boyfriend (sorry guys). That's probably a big part of why she's not quite as much of a partier as most girls her age...she already landed her guy. With 10 years of dancing and 4 years of cheerleading behind her, you would think she'd have gone for the dance squad but the dance squad requires a heftier time commitment and by choosing to become an Ambassador this year instead, she's working to correct her worst habit, which is over-committing herself and then stressing out about it. With her focus right now on getting her master's degree, she figured she wouldn't overload herself for a change. With plans of getting her degree this upcoming spring, maybe we'll see her decide to dance next season? We can have fans do a little bit of a double take if she and Valerie dance on the same line...LOL. Check out her 97Rock Photo album at http://97rock.com/Article.asp?id=1556008&spid=21992

The Jills at the Bills-Fish game

After a loss last week in which the Bills showed more fire than they have all season, Bills fans had a little bit of hope for their annual hosting of the hated Miami Dolphins. With Hall of Famer Bruce Smith getting his HOF ring at halftime and other greats in attendance, the stadium was electric all the way through the final whistle, with the Bills sending the Fish packing with a 31-14 slaughter of their hated rivals.
Last year's game was in Toronto so fans got to tailgate this year and meet the Jills Ambassadors at the 97Rock and 103.3 The Edge Tailgate Parties this year. Inside the Fieldhouse, Kelly Ann and Swimsuit Calendar Covergirl Katy played a bit of Family Feud as part of Classic Hits 104.1's contribution to the Bills Gameday Experience when they weren't signing autographs and taking photos with their fans. Prior to the game, 5th year vet and co-captain Katie made the game ball delivery with the aid of 9-year old Mason Muffoletto, a Buffalo youth who saved his grandfather's life last week with CPR when he suffered a heart attack.
The game itself was exciting, with the teams keeping it close until in the 4th quarter when the Bills pulled away behind a few big plays. The Jills also kept it exciting on the sidelines and even debuted a new performance in the scoreboard endzone after the 3rd quarter.
Coming up next, the Bills and the Jills head north to Toronto to play "host" in the Rogers Centre to the New York Jets in a primetime matchup on NFL Network's Thursday Night Football. Prior to the game itself, members of the Jills will be appearing at the Budweiser Tailgate Party at the intersection of Lower Simcoe St. and Bremner Blvd, which takes place from 3-8pm.
If you're looking for something to do on Saturday, many of the Jills will be appearing at Snow Park Niagara in an event to benefit the Breast Cancer Association. The event takes place from 10am-1pm on First Street in Niagara Falls, NY.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Keisha

This week, we take a look at Ambassador Squad Captain Keisha in our weekly feature. She actually started off her 3rd season on the squad as the co-captain but was promoted when her captain resigned for the squad. Even if Danielle hadn't resigned when she did, it's likely Keisha would've made captain in time anyway. The reason for that is the fact that she goes all out for her squadmates. We're not talking something like helping them celebrate birthdays and the like...there are a lot of girls on the squad that really step up in that way. She's shown up to support and help squadmates at appearances, even making a trek to NYC her rookie year to support Omarlla and Autumn at an appearance at the NYC Buffalo Bills Backers headquarters for a road game that season. She even went to Hawaii to show her support for Jessica in the Pro Bowl this past February. Stuff like that should come as no surprise to anyone who knows her, though. Her enthusiasm for life and being a Buffalo Jill is pretty well-known and when it comes to being a Jills Ambassador, she might be more qualified than anyone. One of the primary requirements of an Ambassador Jill is good conversational skills, something that Keisha is an ace at, as anyone who's only met her can attest. With a Bachelor's degree in psychology and a job as a sales manager, perhaps she was made for this role. You can read more about Keisha at http://buffalojills.net/roster/Keisha.php

The Jills at the Edge Jags Away Game Party

After a week in which the Bills fired their head coach and benched their starting QB, Bills fans weren't sure what to think of their new look Buffalo Bills but many of them showed up at the Aud Sports Bar and Grill in Depew to find out. In addition to the game, wing and beer specials, and prizes from 103.3 The Edge, fans got treated to a visit from 2008 Pro Bowl Buffalo Jill Jessica and this week's Buffalo Pro Cheer Blog Jill of The Week Stephanie B, who visited with fans, posed for pictures, and signed autographs during the game. The game itself ended in disappointment with a loss for the Bills fans. But the day at the Aud was anything but disappointing to the fans that got to meet Jess and Stephanie.
http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/buffalojills2005/2009/Jags-Road/
The Jills are staying busy this week with plenty of appearances.
For one, you may be able to catch a few of them on Wednesday as they visit 97Rock's DJ Jickster as he camps out at Rosa's Home Store on Union Road in Cheektowaga. He's hanging out there collecting food for the Food Bank of Western NY which needs lots of help in these tough economic times. See all the details at http://www.97rock.com/Article.asp?id=1593461&spid=21994
Also that morning, be sure to tune into 103.3 The Edge as Morning Bull interviews one of the Jills from 7:30-8:30. Yoy can even listen online at http://www.wedg.com/ and call in with your own questions (no personal phone number or email requests please, though...lol)
Also, if you're looking to dance off all the food you put it on Thanksgiving, head across the border to Dragonfly Nightclub in Niagara Falls, Ontario where some of the Jills will be appearing for Industry Thursdays on American Thanksgiving. See the details at http://buffalojills.net/appearances/details.php?recordID=62

The Jills next take the field next Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium when the Bills host the hated Miami Dolphins at 1pm. Meet the Ambassadors inside the Fieldhouse and at the 97Rock and 103.3 The Edge Tailgate parties before seeing the dancers perform before and during the game, a game in which HOF DE Bruce Smith will get his HOF ring at halftime.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Stephanie B

This week, we take a look at ebony beauty Stephanie B as our Jill of The Week. In her 3rd season, she's spending gamedays on Omarlla's line next to Katie and Jackie. She's a future elementary school teacher who hopes to make a big impact on many lives, besides obviously making hearts beat faster as she's doing now. A competitive dancer for most of her life, she enjoys the Jr Jills program because it not only allows her to share her love of dance with the next generation, but gives her a start in her future plans as a teacher. It's just that instead of reading, writing, and arithmetic, she's teaching dance and cheer moves. Judging from how the group that she, Jessica, and Christina taught progressed at the Jills Open Practice in September, she's off to a strong start. This past February, she was part of a group of 8 Jills to make a trip to Iraq. You can read more about Stephanie at

The Jills at the Edge Titans Away Game Party

The Buffalo Jills are one of the only squads in the league not sponsored by the team they cheer for. Instead, their main sponsor is a set of radio stations that actually airs the Bills games. One of these stations, 103.3 The Edge, has Away Game Parties featuring food and drink specials, halftime buffets, the largest prize table in Western NY, and a visit by members of the Buffalo Jills in uniform. This year, the Edge Away Game Parties are held at the Aud Sports Bar and Grill in Depew, a sports bar with plenty of memorabilia all over the walls from the recently demolished Memorial Auditorium.
The 2009-10 edition of the Buffalo Jills got their first game experience cheering in Canton, Ohio this year at the annual Hall of Fame game when the Bills faced off against the Tennessee Titans. Now deep into the regular season, the Bills once again faced off against the Titans, this time in Nashville's LP Field, the site of the Bills' last playoff appearance. For this game, against an opponent the Bills last faced outside the Hall of Fame, the Jills sent a pair of Hall of Fame quality Jills in 10th year vets Omarlla and Eileen. Even with all their experience on the squad, they've yet to cheer for a playoff-bound team, which is actually quite saddening. For all they've given to the team, you have to hope the Bills will reward their long tenure with the chance to perform in the playoffs. Unfortunately, with the Bills putting in a poor performance in their game, the chances for that happening this season are looking slimmer by the week. Thankfully, Omarlla and Eileen's contributions to the Jills and the Bills have always been first-rate and we can only hope these two beautiful ladies keep performing for several more years, or at least long enough that they can cheer in the playoffs like they deserve to.

There will be a number of opportunities to see some of the Jills before next week's Edge Away Game Party as many of them will be visiting with 97Rock's DJ Jickster on Thursday as he lives in a truck until it's filled with food for the less fortunate. Stay tuned to 97Rock to find out where he and the truck will be parked.
Also, Bob Weaver Motorsports in North Tonawanda is having an Open House Thursday evening from 7-9 with Jills in attendance for photos and autographs.
Also, don't forget to tune into 103.3 The Edge Wednesday morning at 7:30 to hear Bull interview one of our beautiful Jills with the phone lines open for questions.

Buffalo Jills Swimsuit Calendar Shoot Fundraiser

For their top-selling swimsuit calendar, the Buffalo Jills have the option of getting their shots done here in Western NY or in a more exotic location on a cruise through the Caribbean. Obviously, most of the girls would prefer to get their shots done on the cruise but unfortunately, it's a rather pricey endeavour for the girls as they do have to pay for it themselves. To help pay for the cruise, the Jills hold fundraisers like the annual Beer Blast and pizza party at SoHo on Chippewa in downtown Buffalo. All but a trio of the Jills' 37-girl squad was in attendance for the event which included plenty of raffles, wine-tasting, and a few special appearances. No one knows about the hard work that the girls put in to these events more than former Jills and 5 alumni put in an appearance at the event to support their former squad. A former long-time Bandettes captain even put in an appearance to support one of her friends on the squad.
http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/buffalojills2005/2009/Fundraiser/
With the Bills on the road this weekend, your best chance to meet some of the Jills is to check out the Edge Away Game Party at the Aud Sports Bar in Depew where a couple of the girls will be in attendance for about half of the game.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Kelly Ann

Every so often, a cheerleader leaves the squad but chooses to come back after some time away. This season, the Jills have 3 such young ladies and our first look at one is Kelly Ann. She was a dancer with the Jills in 2003 and 2004 and was actually an early departure from the 2004 squad. The last few years, however, found her making the occasional appearance at a few Jills events and probably got her thinking about returning. This year, she's back and obviously looking just as good as if not better than (my vote goes to better than) she did when she was dancing. She's an Ambassador this year though so if you never got a chance to meet her when she was on the squad before, there's a lot more chances to meet her on gamedays at the 97Rock or 103.3 The Edge Tailgate parties on Radio Row.
Back in 2003, the Jills site had a Jill of The Month feature and Kelly Ann was one of those chosen for the honor and the following is what was said: Well it is obvious... Kelly Ann is gorgeous!! Kelly Ann is a Rookie to the Jills this past season. Her soft spoken demeanor should not be mistaken for her personality. Kelly Ann is very sweet, professional and easy to talk to.
“A dedicated, hard worker too, Kelly Ann's work ethic is one to be admired,” says Buffalo Jills Director Stephanie Mateczun."
Kelly Ann returned to the Jills this season because she regretted leaving the squad early when she did. She hates leaving something unfinished and chose to return to the squad to put in another full season. Hopefully, she won't quit at just the one season although she has previously wanted to return to school for her masters degree after having received a bachelor's in political science from the University of Miami, Jim Kelly's alma mater. If she does intend to do that, I'm sure UB would be ecstatic to have her as she'll probably graduate near the top of her class. To read more about Kelly Ann, check the files section of the webgroup (registration required) to see her 2003 rookie bio. Yeah, she was cheering the last time the Bills beat the Patriots. Maybe having her back on the squad will make something happen on December 20th?

Happy Veteran's Day

A special shout-out to the ladies who've cheered on the Bills or the Bandettes who've also served the United States in the Armed Forces.

2000-01 Jills Swimsuit Calendar Covergirl Marisa spent the 2000 and 2003 season on the Jills as well as a few years with the NY Air National Guard

Bandettes coach Erin J, pictured here with a pair of her Bandettes last season, spent 1998-2002 with the Jills before moving on to coach the Bandettes. Prior to that, she served in the US Army in Operation: Desert Storm.

Recently retired Jills Ambassador Squad captain Kelly spent 2002-08 with the Jills and was an award-winning recruiter in the US Air Force as well during her 9 1/2 year stint.

Jessica spent 2003-07 on active duty in the US Navy and while she's still in the Individual Ready Reserves until next year, she's getting set to dance with the Bandettes for her 3rd season.

These are just the young ladies I know about...I'm sure there are many more and if you'd like them to be included, just drop a line with her name and some info about her as well as, if possible, a photo of her in action as a Jill, Bandette, or Bombshell to buffalojillsphilster@gmail.com and we'll make sure to give her proper recognition

Jills at Catwalk For Charity & your 1st chance to meet the 2010 Bandettes

As previously reported, Ryan Miller of the Buffalo Sabres hosted a Catwalk for Charity at the Town Ballroom on Sunday and many of the Jills were among the models. This year's Catwalk had a 50s theme and besides the obvious outfits, Katy and Amanda dressed up as Betty Grable and Marilyn Monroe. Check out http://www.97rock.com/Article.asp?id=1581281&spid=21992 for the 1st batch of photos of the event and stay tuned to http://www.97rock.com/ to see more photos of Katy, Amanda, Lisa, Liz, Angelina, Kelly, Courteney, Heather, Stephanie M, and Lydia on the Catwalk with the Sabres players.

Also, while they haven't sent out an announcement via their website yet, the Buffalo Bandits did send out a notice about the Open Practice to all of their season ticket holders this week and it's time to set aside December 12th on your calendars. The Open Practice is currently scheduled that Saturday from 9am-2pm at HSBC Arena and besides getting to see the Bandits in a practice setting, you can select seats if you're looking at becoming a new Bandits season ticket holder, and get autographs from the Bandits and from the new 14-member Bandettes squad. This will be the 1st time the entire squad will be appearing together. All but the 5 rookies and 1 returning vet will be at the World's Largest Disco Thanksgiving weekend meeting with and performing for the fans. But if you can't make that as it is a 21-and-over event, make sure to make the Open Practice...see which vets have returned to the squad, which Bandettes alumnus has returned, and which of the 5 Bandettes rookies is no stranger to the pro cheer ranks.

More Jills photos from the Saints game!

With the bye week upon us, the positive is that Bills fans won't get stressed out by the way the team is playing. The negative is not seeing the beautiful Buffalo Jills in action, whether it be at the Ralph or at the Edge Away Game Party or bartending at Sole. There is, however, Ryan Miller's Catwalk for Charity, the proceeds of which go to the Steadfast Foundation. That's happening this evening at the Town Ballroom at 6pm and features about a dozen of our beautiful ladies from the sideline. You can get details and order tickets at www.thesteadfastfoundation.com
However, if that's not in your plans, 97Rock, the Jills' main sponsors, came through with some photos taken earlier in the season.

First up is a group of photos taken while the dancers on the Jills put the finishing touches on their gameday performance inside the stadium before the game while the fans were tailgating and the Jills Ambassadors were meeting with the fans. http://www.97rock.com/Article.asp?id=1579390

Next up are photos taken during the game of the Jills in action during the game. As we all know, the game itself was pretty ugly...the beauty of the Jills more than made up for that, however. Check those photos out at http://www.97rock.com/Article.asp?id=1579107&spid=21993
The Jills are going to be busy before they return to the Ralph on the 29th, of course.
Something that not everyone realizes is that Bull on 103.3 The Edge interviews a Buffalo Jill every week on his show Wednesday mornings from 7:30-8:30am. Fans can call in as well to ask questions (though asking for phone numbers is generally discouraged...lol) But get more details at http://buffalojills.net/appearances/details.php?recordID=58 and contact info for WEDG radio at http://www.wedg.com/showdj.asp?DJID=46261
Saturday night, SoHo plays host to the Jills from 7-9 for the Jills' Annual Swimsuit Calendar Shoot Fundraiser. $20 per ticket in advance includes: Pizza from Blasdell Pizza, beer, Merritt Estate Wine, entertainment & awesome raffles! Tickets are $25 at the door. You can get more details at http://buffalojills.net/appearances/details.php?recordID=56 All 37 of the current Jills are expected to be there save a few girls who will be making an appearance in Albany for WQBK radio. Get details on that at http://www.wqbk.com/BuffaloBills/BuffaloJills/tabid/7144/Default.aspx
Finally, the Bills are back on the road for a game against the Titans and you can see some of the Jills appearing at the Aud Sports Bar and Grill as part of the Edge Away Game Party. Get details at http://www.wedg.com/Article.asp?id=872591 or for a more laid back and relaxed atmosphere, check out Sole Restaurant in Williamsville where 1 of the lovely Jills will be bartending for every away game. http://buffalojills.net/appearances/details.php?recordID=50

NLL Girl of the Week champ: Amanda

Another contest, another winner. With more than 5,700 votes cast, our newest National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contest winner is Amanda of the Buffalo Bandettes. Thanks one and all for the votes cast. And as for Amanda’s 3,882-1,905 win over Rochester’s Corina, it’s just one more bragging right for Buffalo over Rochester. We’re not trying to stoke that fire, as if it really needs it, but part of any healthy rivalry is notching a W and Buffalo fan has another notch in the belt when it comes to rubbing it in Rochester’s face. Is Buffalo going to have a victory parade for Amanda? Probably not, but Bandit fan always has this card to play.

Jills on CNN/SI and Jills profile shots at 97Rock!

CNN/SI's cameras were on hand at Ralph Wilson Stadium and without an actual game to watch, they did grace us with some photos of the beautiful Buffalo Jills. Included this week are shots of Omarlla, Lynn, Ayeshia, Valerie, Jess, and Loren as well as a sideline shot of Omarlla's line. Check them out at http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/0911/nfl.cheerleaders.week8/content.46.html
Also, 97Rock is stepping up as the Jills' primary sponsors and showing off profile photos of most of the 37 Buffalo Jills on its own site. The girls are up in alphabetical order starting with the beautiful Alyssa and finishing with the lovely Vincenza. Check them out at http://www.97rock.com/Article.asp?id=1575984&spid=21993
Don't be afraid to comment, either...but keep in mind that any comments you leave will be seen on every page so if you're commenting on how beautiful a specific Jill is, don't forget to name which one you're talking about.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Murissa

Last week, we looked at stunning 2nd year vet Jackie as our Jill of The Week. We even included a video showing her performance at the Town Ballroom for 1st dance cuts this year and her partner for that performance was this week's Jill of The Week, the equally stunning Murissa. A self-admitted princess (with her own prince), this 2nd year dancer can be found on Omarlla's line on gamedays between Vincenza and Kelly. Murissa loves to laugh and enjoy life and loves to pose for photos as well, and seems to seek out the camera more than most. One thing she leaves out in her official bio is her singing ability, something she hasn't shared with the fans as of yet...but notice I used the word "yet." Back in 2006, Aimee and Keiyonna did some singing at some major Jills events and maybe, just maybe, we'll get a microphone in Murissa's hands one of these days as well. But beyond all that, Murissa's strongest quality is her heart. She loves her squadmates immensely and being a Jill more than almost anything. Like many of the Jills, she knew some of her squadmates before joining, but since becoming a Buffalo Jill, she's made many, many more that she's just as close with as the ones she knew beforehand. You can read more about Murissa at http://buffalojills.net/roster/murissa.php

The Jills at the Bills-Texans game

It's times like these where I feel bad for the people who have to write about the Bills. A large portion of the Bills performed terribly, from the team on the field where few players really stepped up, to the organization itself, which classlessly placed a tarp over the entrance tunnel so that fans who paid to sit there didn't get what they paid for.
But thankfully, this blog is about people who have plenty of class so we won't dwell on that. From the players who stepped up, like rookie FS Jairus Byrd who had a 3rd straight game with 2 interceptions, to the owner of the Bills, Ralph C Wilson Jr, who was given his well-deserved Hall of Fame ring after his induction this past summer in Canton. Byrd was once again the talk of Western NY with his ball-hawking style as a couple of errant Matt Schaub passes found their way into his clutches. Byrd truly is the word in the Buffalo area. Ralph Wilson's contributions to the NFL, with his work on television deals which helped force the AFL-NFL merger, delivered a short-but rousing speech at halftime to a chorus of cheers when he renewed his dedication to delivering a Super Bowl to Buffalo. For those who may think he may not have enough left in the tank to do so, he reiterated "I still feel that I have youth on my side" as he said when he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton this past August.
But on to the focus of the blog and the Buffalo Jills. Their days started at 9am when they arrived to the stadium for their gameday routines. Dancers, down a few girls due in part to illness, welcomed 4th year vet Stefanie back to the field after her recovery from a foot injury. They spent much of pregame working out their routines to ensure they were ready to perform and step up with the girls they had. And unlike the players on the field, the Jills never seem to miss a beat when they're missing squad members, even though those squadmates are missed by fans and Jills alike. Christina once again stepped up and filled in wonderfully as captain of Nicole's line while Omarlla and Eileen handled their own lines as well as always.
The Ambassadors, meanwhile, had plenty to do on their own. Posing for pictures and autographing calendars with many of the fans, many of whom were still in Halloween costumes, was the order of the day at the 97Rock Tailgate party with Kelly Ann, Heather, Laura, Nicole L, and Alyssa while Amanda, Katy, Lindsay, Kristen, and Ruby did much of the same at the 103.3 The Edge Tailgate Party just down Radio Row. Inside the Fieldhouse, Ambassador Squad captain Keisha was joined by Courteney as they greeted fans and played a little Family Feud with the fans and quizmaster Dennis George, a new addition to the Fieldhouse Gameday Experience brought to the fans by Classic Hits 104.1. Afterwards, Keisha received the honor of delivering the game ball before she and Courteney accompanied Billy Buffalo and many of the various promotions held throughout the stadium during the game.
http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/buffalojills2005/2009/Texans/
Next week, the Bills will be on a bye but a number of the Jills will be plenty busy at Ryan Miller's Catwalk For Charity to be held at the Town Ballroom in downtown Buffalo, right where the 1st rd of Jills tryouts were held this past spring. Get full details at www.thesteadfastfoundation.com
The following weekend, it's time to invade SoHo on Chippewa as the Jills hold their Swimsuit Calendar Shoot Fundraiser party on November 14th. The annual event includes all-you-can-eat pizza and wings from Blasdell Pizza as well as wine from Merritt Estate Winery and beer for $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Also included is the chance to get in on some raffles as well see a great performance by the Buffalo Jills dancers as well as get to meet most of the entire squad and maybe some Jills alumni as well.
On Sunday the 15th, there are 2 places to be in Western NY for watching the Bills-Titans game. The Aud Sports Bar in Depew features the region's largest prize table, a halftime buffet, wing and drink specials, and a pair of Buffalo Jills for a half at the Edge Away Game Party. Meanwhile, for a more laid back atmosphere, you can watch the game at Sole Restaurant in Williamsville and find one of the beautiful Buffalo Jills behind the bar for the entire game.
If you're not in Buffalo that weekend but are closer to Albany, WQBK has a number of things going on involving a few of the Jills as well, including a Walk For The Cure Poker Walk at Clinton's Ditch the evening of the 14th. Check out the full list of appearances in Albany at

Buffalo Jill of The Week Jackie

This week, we take a look at blonde stunner Jackie as our Buffalo Jill of The Week. Jackie is in her 2nd season on the dance squad and spends gamedays anchoring Omarlla's line alongside Stephanie. Jackie is very soft-spoken but carries within her a determination to succeed in all she does, whether it be on the sidelines dancing or in her studies working towards a degree in Biomedical Sciences. She actually loves school unlike most people but she seems to see school as a means to an end. All the hard work she's putting in now will help her attain her goals and once she's finished, she may end up finding the cure for the common cold or even cancer. While that may seem a large expectation for this young lady, the fact that she's viewed as one of the top dancers on a squad of extremely talented dancers, it's not that extreme an expectation to those who know her. The only trick may be tearing her away from the beach. Read more about Jackie at http://buffalojills.net/roster/jackie.php and check out the performance from the 1st rd of Jills tryouts that she and Murissa, next week's Jill of The Week, put together at http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/buffalojills2005/2009/1st%20cuts/?action=view&current=096.flv

The Jills at the Panthers Away Game Festivities

After last week's win in the Meadowlands against the division rival Jets, the Bills' next opponent lay in wait for them in the form of the Carolina Panthers. Little did the Panthers know that a large contingent of Bills fans would be there to help cheer the visiting Bills on to a 20-9 victory over the home team. While a large number of the Bills fans there were transplants from Western NY, there was also a good-sized contingent of fans making the trek down from the Queen City.

Even with the large number of fans driving or flying down to Carolina, fans still filled the bars of Western NY to watch the Bills game on TV and, like last week, nowhere was that more evident than at the Aud Sports Bar in Depew where 103.3 The Edge hosts their Away Game Parties. Food and drink specials as well as the region's biggest prize table are a big part of the draw. But obviously, to really draw in the crowd, some beautiful women had to be there as well and this week, it was in the form of Jills Ambassadors Keisha and Kristen, who spent most of the game mingling with the fans as well as taking photos and signing autographs.

While the goings-on were wild for the game at the Aud, it was a more relaxed atmosphere at Sole Restaurant in Williamsville where the vivacious Valerie served drinks to the patrons there to have dinner and watch the game as well as meet one of the most popular of the Jills around.
http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/buffalojills2005/2009/Panthers-Road/
Coming up next for the Jills, a number of them will be at ECC-North on Saturday helping out with the Safe & Seen Halloween event for the kids. You can bring your kids in full costume where they can visit different themed booths for candy and treats but make sure the Jills booth is one of your stops..
Next Sunday, the Jills are back at the Ralph looking to help the Bills gets to .500 as they face the visiting Houston Texans. Meet members of the Ambassador Squad as you visit the Bills Fieldhouse as well as the 97Rock and 103.3 The Edge Tailgate Parties. While you're meeting them, make sure to pick up your Buffalo Jills Swimsuit Calendar and get it autographed by them on the spot. If you've already picked up your calendar and gotten it autographed, there's something else you can get from the Jills, besides photos, that is. On November 14th, SoHo on Chippewa hosts the Buffalo Jills Annual Calendar Trip Fundraiser. The $20 ticket, which you can purchase beforehand from the Jills ($25 at the door) covers all you can eat pizza and wings, beer, wine from Merritt Estate Winery, and entertainment by the Buffalo Jills. There will also be some great raffle prizes available, including football memorabilia autographed by members of the Buffalo Bills. All 38 current Jills are expected to be there and don't be surprised to see a number of alumni there as well.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Gabrielle

This week, we take a look at another one of our stunning rookie dancers with the beautiful Gabrielle. We met Gabby just prior to 1st cuts when she showed up with close friend Kaitlin, who returned to the squad after a season off. Spending gamedays on Nicole's line between Christina and Lynn, she's already made her mark by doing whatever it takes to get the job done. In June, Merritt Estate Winery held their annual Strawberry Festival and one of the features was a dunk booth and Gabrielle volunteered for it. You would think spending a June day going into the water would feel good but with the air temperature in the 60s and the water temperature probably colder, poor Gabby had goosebumps on top of her goosebumps when she finished up. But through it all, she kept smiling even when linemate Jennifer took her (unsuccessful) shots at dunking her. In her personal time, she's actually pretty low-maintenance and prefers a quiet evening at home but she does have big plans for the future. The Jills' Calendar trip this past May kept her interest up in traveling more and she one day hopes to travel the world. With college majors in French, International Business, and Marketing, it's not hard to picture her accomplishing that goal. Check out her and Kaitlin's routine at the 1st cuts at the Town Ballroom at http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/buffalojills2005/2009/1st%20cuts/?action=view&current=106.flv
Also, check out her in a belly dancer costume as well as dressed up as Wonder Woman for Halloween at http://www.97rock.com/Article.asp?id=1557707&spid=21993

97Rock Photo albums

Last year, 97Rock featured photo albums of the Buffalo Jills on an intermittent basis. Now, it's still early so we'll have to see if they plan on doing that again. If they are, they started off pretty well with the lovely Lindsay, a rookie member of the Ambassador Squad.

Check it out at http://97rock.com/Article.asp?id=1556008&spid=21992

The Jills at the Jets Away Game festivities

The Bills ended their 3-game losing skid on Sunday with a 16-13 OT win in the Meadowlands against the NY Jets and as much as fans across Western NY were complaining they were giving up on the season or even the team, you couldn't tell it from the attendance at the Edge Away Game Party at the Aud Sports Bar and Grill in Depew as the venue was standing room-only by the time the Bills kicked off to the Jets.
Once again, 103.3 The Edge is putting on Away Game parties for all the Bills road games and this year, the Aud Sports Bar is the place with 40-cent wings, Bud and Labatt specials, a halftime buffet, and James giving away prizes all game long. Also, like last year's parties, when the Bills score, you can put in an entry to win a TV...but they upgraded. Last year was a 42-inch flat screen while this year's screen comes in at 47 inches. The best part of the event is the company, though. Besides plenty of devoted Bills fans, a pair of Jills is there for a part of every game and this week, 3rd year vet Vincenza was joined by rookie Ambassador Alyssa as they watched the game with the fans, posed for pictures, signed autographs, and sold a few calendars as well.

But maybe you'd like a more laid-back atmosphere to watch the game but still want some beautiful women around. Sole Restaurant in the Walker Center in Williamsville featured 3rd year vet Amanda behind the bar for the game and looking every bit as stunning behind the bar as she looks in uniform at the games.
http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/buffalojills2005/2009/Jets-Road/
Next week, the Bills are on the road in Carolina so if you didn't make it out to the Aud or Sole this week, here's another chance right away with a 4:05 kickoff against the Panthers.
There's plenty more coming up as well before the Jills next take the field when the Bills play host to the Houston Texans on November 1st.
On October 26th, they'll be appearing at a Celebrity Wine-Tasting event for Brian Moorman's PUNT Foundation at Asbury Hall in Buffalo. Get all the details at http://www.brianmoorman.org/wine_pairing09.php
On October 31st, you can meet some of the Jills as you bring the kids to Safe & Seen Halloween at ECC's North Campus in Williamsville. Get all the details at http://www.safeandseenhalloween.com

BVB Game pics

The Blondes Vs Brunettes Game is held in various cities across the nation, with its roots in Washington DC. The purpose of the event is a fundraiser for the Alzheimer Association and features a powderpuff flag football game between 2 sets of women. In Buffalo, the 1st annual game was held at Amherst's Sweet Home High School on Saturday afternoon and featured more intensity than local fans have seen on the pro level in a few weeks. Both squads, coached by fitness trainers at Gold's Gym, played hard from start to finish in a game that ended on a 12-12 tie.
The Buffalo Jills themselves were a big part of this event as well with 4 blondes, Christina, Jackie, Jennifer, and Lynn cheering on their team and Katie, Lisa, Murissa, and Gabrielle cheering on the brunettes. The Jills cheered on the sidelines as well as spent some time signing autographs, posing for pictures, and selling raffle tickets. Of course with 8 talented and beautiful dancers, they weren't going to get away without performing as well and they put on a halftime performance for the few hundred fans in attendance.
There was another way the Jills contributed as well, though. Jills director Stephanie M played at OL in the 1st half, drawing complaints from the blondes for her aggressive blocking style. Her blocking served the brunettes well as she delivered a key block on a reverse play for a touchdown by former Buffalo Jill Danielle H (1998-2002). The 2nd half saw Steph at WR playing decoy and drawing tight coverage from opposing defenders allowing her teammates to get open. In the end, the 12-12 tie showed how tightly contested this game was. A game that was supposed to be a flag football game featured a few tackles here and there as the intensity level rose as the game went on. Danielle won the Brunettes' MVP award as she made another big play on a reverse late in the game in addition to her TD run.
Afterwards, both teams retired to Average Joe's Sports Bar for a victory party to collect awards, eat, drink, and even got shots bought for them by the game's referees. Maybe NFL referees would get thought of better if they did that for the league's players...just a thought.
We also had 1 more Jills sighting as former Jill Francine P (2000-02) made an appearance for the game and victory party as well, still looking like she could grab a set of pom-poms and fit right in on the sidelines alongside the 2009-10 Buffalo Jills.
Check out the pics at http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/buffalojills2005/2009/BVB%20Game/ and check out a few media reports from the event at http://www.wivb.com/dpp/news/local/Blondes_play_brunettes_at_powder_puff_20091017
& http://www.wgrz.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=71129&catid=37

The Jills are going to be plenty busy today with 3 big appearances for the Bills game.
Meet a few of the Jills at the Aud Sports Bar and Grill in Depew for the Edge Away Game Party with wing and drink specials, halftime buffet, and James giving away prizes during commercial breaks and halftime. http://www.wedg.com/Article.asp?id=872591
If you'd like a different atmosphere, check out Sole Restaurant where they feature the Jills behind the bar. Watch the game while getting a drink from one of Buffalo's most beautiful women? Sounds like a winning combination! http://buffalojills.net/appearances/details.php?recordID=50
If you'd like to help out a worthy cause while watching the game, the Suneel's Light Foundation is holding a Tailgate For A Cure at Samuel's Grande Manor in Clarence in an event raising funds to fight Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy. With live music, a buffet, cash bar, Chinese auction, and an appearance by some of the Buffalo Jills as well with the game playing on the big screens. http://www.suneelslight.org/html/tailgate2009.html

Jills on CNN/SI!!

CNN/SI's cameras were clicking at last week's disaster of a football game and got some great pics of something that was anything but a disaster. They have a great set of pics of our Buffalo Jills in action with photos of Angelina, Anna, Jackie, Stephanie, Murissa, and Vincenza. Check them out at http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/0910/nfl.cheerleaders.week5/content.18.html

Buffalo Jill of The Week Joya

This week, we take a look at rookie dancer Joya as our Jill of The Week. Spending her gamedays on Eileen's line between Jill and Anna, she's loving the chance to perform in front of 73,000 fans. She took a gradual build-up in excitement levels, starting off with the Hall of Fame game and going through preseason and ending up with the Home Opening win over Tampa Bay. While the team hasn't been providing the fans with any excitement to speak of since then, Joya and her squadmates are determined to give people attending Bills games a reason to stay in their seats watching or on their feet applauding from pregame to the end of the game. This college graduate is also a big fan of the camera, being one of this season's most-photographed Jills. Of course a part of that is due to having Eileen as a captain, who seems to do a lot to get a plenty of photos for her line. And then there's also Joya's dedication to the community, with several appearances to her credit, including a few in the Southern Tier. The dedication to the community is no surprise as she seems to enjoy meeting new people and is known for being friendly by her squadmates. When it comes to tryouts, everyone knows that the girls learn a routine one week and perform it a week later for the 1st round of dance cuts. There are also a few rounds in which they need to learn a short routine on the spot and Joya is known as a fast learner, something that definitely helped her land one of the spots on the squad this season.

Monday Morning Cheerleader: Liz of the Buffalo Bills

Unless you hail from Buffalo or Cleveland — or you're a big fan of The T.O. Show — odds are you didn't exactly circle the 1-3 Bills against the 0-4 Browns on your must-see-TV schedule. Be glad you didn't. In a game so offensively ugly it'd make a Pop Warner coach cringe, Browns quarterback Derek Anderson completed two of 17 passes and the Bills rang up nine false starts before return man Roscoe Parrish muffed a late punt, and the game, in a 6-3 loss. But out of the chaos emerges the lovely Liz, a second-year Bills cheerleader, to make sense of things. The aspiring child psychologist, ripping snowboarder, and lifetime Bills fan talked T.O., the no-huddle offense, and whether coach Dick Jauron deserves his spot on the hot seat.

The Buffalo Jills at the Bills-Browns game

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, the NFL has been very involved all month long. Players can be found wearing pink armbands, gloves, and cleats while the cheerleaders around the league are sporting pink pom-poms and, in some cases, pink outfits. The Buffalo Jills were one of those cases on Sunday as the entire squad of dancers and ambassadors spent the chilly autumn day in pink jerseys with black shorts along with their pink pom-poms.
Obviously, the game itself was something that Bills fans, and a lot of Browns fans, would like to forget. However, there were some positive parts of the day as well. Prior to the game, Carvings For A Cause, an organization that has been turning fallen trees from the 2006 October Storm into artwork, unveiled its latest creation at the 97Rock Tailgate Party. After wood sculptures of former Bills QB Jim Kelly and ESPN Commentator Chris Berman, both of which stand outside the Big Tree Inn after their unveiling 2 years ago, the great Thurman Thomas was honored with his own wood carving. To help with the unveiling, Ambassador Jills Amanda, Nicole L, Kristen, and Alyssa were on hand at the party. Meanwhile, games were played by fans and calendars were signed by Keisha, Lindsay, and Heather at the 103.3 The Edge Tailgate Party just a short distance away while Laura and Courteney greeted fans coming into the Bills Fieldhouse.
When it came to gametime, after 4th year vet and 2nd year co-captain Christina delivered the game ball, Laura and Ruby accompanied Billy Buffalo and helped with the various promotions around the stadium. When it came to the dancers, they resembled the Bills in one way. The Bills have been losing players to injury this season and unfortunately, in many cases, the depth hasn't done as well as the lost starters. The Jills, likewise, were short a few girls at the Browns game, including captains Eileen and Nicole P and a foot injury to 4th year vet Stefanie. Unlike the Bills, the remaining Jills stepped up and Christina stepped up and performed well in Nicole's place while Jill stepped up as well by filling in for Eileen.

While the Bills are on the road the next few weeks and don't return to the Ralph until November 1st, the Jills are staying plenty busy, especially with some appearances this upcoming weekend.
First up is a Customer Appreciation Night Party at the Buffalo Beach House on Niagara Falls Blvd in Amherst. It features wine-tasting, food samples and even a swimwear fashion show with the Buffalo Jills.
On Saturday, Sweet Home High School hosts the Blondes Vs Brunettes football game and not only will the Jills be appearing and performing, but Jills director Stephanie M will be playing in the game!
Before you go to the game and the Victory Party at Average Joe's after the game, don't forget to set your DVRs for 9pm-10pm on Food Network as they air Tailgate Warriors with Guy Fieri, which was shot prior to the Bears preseason game in Lot C outside Ralph Wilson Stadium. In addition to seeing the famed Pinto and CBNG's Illegal Motion Tailgate parties in action, many of the Jills appeared throughout the day. If we're lucky, they'll even air an impromptu cheer that Kelly, Loren, and Alyssa made up on the spot.
Finally, while watching the Bills-Jets away game itself, especially the way they're playing these days, holds little entertainment value, the Jills alway make it more enjoyable and there will be a pair of Jills bartending at Sole Restaurant all game long and a pair of their beautiful rookies will also be at the Aud Sports Bar in Depew for the Edge Away Game party, hosted by James of radio station 103.3 The Edge.

NLL Girl of the Week: Amanda

If we do enough of these National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contests, it’s bound to happen, right? You know what I mean. If we had a nickel for every NLL dancer who said “I’ve been dancing since the age of 3,” we’d be, well, rich. But leave it to Buffalo to break from the norm because this week’s Girl of the Week, Amanda, says she’s never taken a formal dance class before she joined the Bandettes two seasons ago. Impressive, to say the least. But that’s where we find ourselves this week, getting to know a little more about Amanda.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Christina

For a 3rd straight week, we take a look at one of the blonde beauties on the squad with 4th year co-captain Christina. This communications major was on the fast track almost as soon as she tried out. She was the 2006 Jills rookie of the year and was the sole rookie on that season's Events Dance Squad, joining 2 captains, 2 co-captains, and a 2nd year vet in that group. Last season was her 1st as a co-captain and rather than being overwhelmed with the added responsibility, she loved the challenge it gave her. One of the biggest things being a Jill has given Christina was teaching her how to be an effective public speaker, a skill that will serve her well when she steps behind the anchor desk on the local news one of these days. Maybe she'll end up working alongside Victoria Hong, a longtime anchor who became a Buffalo Jill for a day a few years ago with Christina coaching her along the way. http://buffaloprocheer.blogspot.com/2007/05/buffalo-jill-victoria-hong.html You can read more about Christina at http://buffalojills.net/roster/christina.php

Jills on CNN/SI!

At last week's game vs the Saints, CNN/SI's photographers snapped a few photos of our Buffalo Jills, with shots of Angelina, Omarlla, and Gabrielle. Check them out at http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/0910/nfl.cheerleaders.week3/content.49.html

Buffalo Jill of The Week Eileen

This week's Jill of The Week is no stranger to anyone who's paid any attention to the Jills this decade. Eileen is one of two Jills, along with Omarlla, who's been on the squad an incredible 10 seasons! Like Omarlla, she isn't slowing down either and is only getting better. She became a co-captain in 2006 and this year is her first as a full captain. Before any of that, though, she was named the Jills' Pro Bowler for the 2005 season and got a trip to Hawaii out of the deal. 2007 was another big year for Eileen as well as she was part of a group of 8 Jills to visit the troops in Iraq just before tryouts. But she wasn't finished with that as she took another trip with some squadmates to the Middle East in early August to visit troops in Afghanistan. Talk about picking up some serious airline miles! On the Afghanistan trip, she really showed her mettle as a leader as the ranking member of the Jills on that trip.
Eileen has been dancing since the age of 3, of course that's just studio work....she's probably been dancing since the womb. She's even danced in NYC, with some training from Broadway professionals. In fact, NYC was a destination for schooling for her for a while when she was looking at a career in fashion merchandising. Thankfully, she refocused towards Elementary Education and stayed here in WNY where she continues to make the fans smile with her dance moves, beauty, and personality. You can read more about Eileen at http://buffalojills.net/roster/eileen.php and for a special treat, check out the webgroup's files section this week for a look at her rookie bio. You can compare the two and see how much she's changed since then.
