Kickoff celebration planned

The eight-game series of Buffalo Bills games in Toronto will officially begin with a free football festival and concert called the Samsung Bills Toronto Kickoff Party.

The Samsung Bills Toronto Kickoff Party is free and will be held on August 13, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto.

“This is a monumental time in the sports history of our city,” said Phil Lind, Vice Chair, Rogers Communications Inc. “The Samsung Bills Toronto Kickoff Party is an open invitation to all Torontonians to help us celebrate.”

The Samsung Bills Toronto Kickoff Party will begin with a football festival that will include:

• Live interviews with Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers alumni, including legendary Steeler running JEROME BETTIS and legendary Bills quarterback and hall of famer JIM KELLY

At 8:00 p.m., following the festival, the Bills Toronto Series officially kicks off with a performance by the Buffalo Jills, a Buffalo Bills pep rally, and an appearance by every member of the 2008 Buffalo Bills. After meeting their northern fans, the Bills will depart and attendees will be treated to an exclusive, free performance by Canadian act Hedley.

Buffalo Jills and Bandettes Photos of The Week

This week's Jills pictures come from the recent Buffalo Jills Golf Tournament that took place at Fox Valley Country Club on July 21st. The first pic was taken near the end of the actual golfing at the 15th tee while waiting for the last group of golfers to make it to the hole. It features Kristin B and Holly, a pair of rookies we'll see dancing on Nicole's line this fall. Kristin is a teacher when not cheering while Holly is working through college with plans of becoming a world-class surgeon.

The second pic was taken back in the clubhouse as the golfers were arriving from the course and features 3 of our second-year vets. Ayeshia is generally regarded as one of the fittest of the Jills by her squadmates while Jill D, probably her best bud on the squad is known for being a bit on the goofy side as well as her easy-going demeanor. Amanda K, known as Dr. Amanda, isn't someone you'll find operating on you unless your name is Fido or Lassie or something. She's a veterinarian and great at her job judging from her fan base of satisfied pet owners.

The Bandettes pic these week comes from the February matchup against the Philadelphia Wings. In a pic taken early in the 4th quarter, we have Melissa, Sarah, and Karla posing for the camera. Melissa was a 4th year vet this year who showed off her journalistic skills a few times for and Sarah, also a 4th year vet is best known as someone with an eye for the camera lens as she poses for more shots than anyone. Karla, a 6th year vet, actually took 2 seasons off after spending the 2001-2005 seasons on the Bandettes...and also the 2000-2002 seasons with the Jills.

6th Annual Buffalo Jills Golf Tournament pics

On July 21st, 90 golfers spent a day at Lancaster's Fox Valley Country Club to not only get in a round of golf, but to help support the beautiful women of the 2008-09 Buffalo Jills. The overcast day that spilled out a few short showers did nothing to diminish the enthusiasm of the golfers or the Jills. Some golfers bid on Jills as caddies and Jills Ambassadors Danielle, Amanda F, Katherine, and Laura were the selected caddies who accompanied a few groups around the course for the day. Danielle and Amanda helped out their foursome a little bit while Laura tried her hand at teeing off a few times. Golfers mingled with the Jills all over the course and many posed with veterans and rookies alike as they waited to tee off at many of the holes around the picturesque course. After the golf itself was done, the golfers and Jills retired to the clubhouse for dinner and raffles that included about as many prizes as there were golfers, including an autographed Bills hat from QB Trent Edwards and a football autographed by MLB Paul Posluszny. Of course no Jills event would be complete without a dance routine and Valerie, Jennifer, Nicole, Christina, Omarlla, Anna, Eileen, and Katie K were ready and able to oblige with a trio of short routines that thrilled the golfers after dinner.

Buffalo Jills and Bandettes Photos of The Week

Once again we take a look at a photo from the Jills Congratulatory Party as our first photo. This one was taken after 97Rock's DJ Jickster brought all the rookies out in front of the stage and had a few of the rookies answer some Bills trivia questions. Here we see Lonna, Lynn, and Murissa waiting for a question while Alison, seen twirling her hair in an effort to fluster poor Jickster, is about to answer the question posed to her. Not seen in this photo are the other 2 rookies were were chosen for this trivia questiona-and-answer session, Stephanie Br and Kristin B.

Our second pic is, once again, from last year's Jills Golf Tournament (this year's is coming up on the 21st!). This pic was taken after the actual tournament while the golfers were returning to the clubhouse for dinner, entertainment, and the raffle. Seen here is the director's husband Jon posing with 4 members of the Jills Ambassador Squad. From left to right are Vincenza, Amanda F, Katherine, and Danielle. A word of advice to anyone who'll be golfing at Fox Valley on Monday in the tournament. If your golf party is just ahead of Jon's and they're catching up to you, don't waste your time asking the Jills to distract him to slow him down. As Katie K told a golfer who asked that 2 years ago, "He's immune to us being able to distract him." LOL

This week, our Bandettes photo is actually from a road game. The Buffalo-Rochester rivalry in the NLL is an intense one for a few different reasons. Some players have played for both teams, they face off in the playoffs quite frequently it seems, and obviously the proximity to one another is a big factor as well. Due in part to this proximity, some Knightingales cheerleaders come to Buffalo when the teams face off and likewise, our Buffalo Bandettes have a group going to Rochester quite regularly. In this April's matchup in Rochester, the stands boasted 3 of the Buffalo Bandettes. While the quantity was small, the quality was large as the 3 that went were fan favorite Sarah and co-captains Meghan and Melissa.

Taste of Buffalo 2008

The 25th Annual Taste of Buffalo kicked off Saturday with 56 restaurants participating this year and the day was hot in more ways than one. The 88 degree temperature and all the fantastic foods were just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. It was also a great place to see a number of local musical acts, all of which are new to the Taste this year and see friends you haven't seen in months. But the hottest part of all was getting to see plenty of beautiful women, the hottest of which could be seen right in front of City Hall and the 97Rock booth. I'm talking, of course, about the First Ladies of Buffalo, the Buffalo Jills. The Jills were on hand handing out Bills schedules and posing for pictures with fans from noon to 4 and rookies and vet alike seemed to pick up a lot of new fans.

Here's a few pictures from the day that feature Jills rookies Liz, Kristin M, and Shana (who put in 4 hours under the sun) as well as popular veteran Amanda F in a few scenes from the day.

If you missed Day 1 of the Taste, don't fret. Just make sure you make it to Day 2 and sample some of the great Buffalo foods, listen to some local bands, and of course, meet some of our beautiful Buffalo Jills.
Also, whether or not you make the Taste this weekend, don't forget that the Jills Golf Tournament is coming up on July 21st at Fox Valley Country Club in Lancaster, NY. The $125 fee includes a full round of golf, cart usage, lunch and dinner, the chance to win lots of prizes, entertainment, and of course, the chance to meet all the 2008-09 Buffalo Jills! Just visit to order your tickets.

Buffalo Jills Photos of The Week

This week, we take a look at another pair of photos from the Congratulatory Party and from last year's Jills Golf Tournament. From the Congratulatory Party, we have a shot with Nichole, Jennifer, and Stephanie M. Nichole spent the 2000-2005 seasons dancing on the sidelines of Ralph Wilson Stadium and then moved more behind the scenes starting in 2006 when she took on the role of Jills Coordinator. Jennifer is one of promising rookies with the Jills this year and besides being a real go-getter, she loves MTV's Real World. Stephanie spent a few years dancing with the Jills a few years ago and has been the Jills director since 2002, guiding the squad through increased positive exposure with additions like Jills events at different times of the year, the Ambassador Squad, and a roster that keeps growing.

From last year's Jills Golf Tournament, we have a trio of 2nd year vets. Jill D is a former competitive dancer and is one of the most friendly girls around. Katie C is as zany as they come and her fun-loving attitude is obviously not the only thing about her drawing comparisons to Cameron Diaz. Lisa was last year's rookie of the year and that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone as she's been a cheerleader since the age of 4, 18 years so far.

Don't forget! This weekend is the Taste of Buffalo in Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo and it'll be a great chance to not only sample a lot of different local cuisines, but meet many of the rookie Buffalo Jills we'll be seeing on the sideines this fall. Also, if you haven't gotten your tickets for the Jills Golf Tournament on July 21st yet, it's not too late to reserve a day of golf, entertainment, prizes, and the company of the entire Buffalo Jills squad. Just visit to get your tickets.

Buffalo Jills In-town to Promote Bills Game

Go-Go boots and pig skins drew-in NFL fans this afternoon at Brookfield Place on Front Street.

The Buffalo Jills and team-punter Brian Moorman were in-town promoting the up-coming August Bills game in Toronto.

Fans gathered to get photos and team calendars signed by the cheerleaders, and football star.

The obvious crowd-drawers were The Jills, two of whom are Canadian gals (Anna and Sarah), who took to the stage to give a sample of their cheerleading routines.

Buffalo Jills Photos of The Week

This week, we have a couple different sources for pictures. The first pic comes from this year's Jills Congratulatory Party held at Club Paradise the night of the NFL Draft. It features the formerly shy Vincenza, a 2nd year member of the Ambassador Squad with rookie Rita, who showed off her dance moves at the Open Workshop this year. You can see her in this video for example. That's her directly behind Lisa in the white pants and red and white striped shirt.

Our second pic comes from last year's Buffalo Jills Golf Tournament and features Ambassador Squad members Danielle, Katherine, Laura, and Amanda F getting set to head out on the course with their golf parties. Danielle, Katherine, and Amanda were each bid on by golfers to join their groups for the day. So in addition to seeing the Jills at lunch and dinner as well as at various holes around the course, 3 lucky foursomes each had a member of the Buffalo Jills accompanying them all 18 holes as well. This year's Golf Tournament will also be held at Fox Valley Country Club in Lancaster, NY and takes place on July 21st so don't hesitate to make sure you have the day off for this event!

In addition to the Golf Tournament, we'll see numerous rookie Jills at the Taste of Buffalo on July 11 and 12th in Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo. Just look for the Bills booth as well as booths for 97Rock and 103.3 The Edge to meet some of these beautiful young rookie Jills.
