Bandette of The Week Beth

Our Bandette of the Week is 2nd year vet Beth. Beth is definitely a true Buffalonian, she actually likes the weird weather we have here at times. Despite her love for Buffalo's weather, she loves to get away as well. She's been to China twice and also got to spend some time in Hawaii last summer and got some big news when she was there...news you'll have to check her video profile for. You can read more about Beth at

and check out her video profile at http://www.bandits.com/multimedia.cfm?id=330&media=video as well.

Bandettes 2007 webpage launched

http://www.bandits.com/bandettes.cfm (registration required)

features an interactive group photo and links to personal photos and bios on all 14 of the 2007 Bandettes.
And since we finally have a site with bios, the Bandette of The Week feature will be launched here this weekend featuring Beth (we'll be going across the squad photo)

Buffalo Jill of The Week Jamie F

With a million-dollar smile, Jamie F is our current Jill of The Week. Unfortunately, this 2006 rookie chose not to return to the sidelines this fall so we're just left with memories. Maybe she'll come back next season and try to top the current tumblers Kaitlin M and Emily. They're the ones usually doing backflips during routines. Jamie could start out the game in dramatic fashion...as she's hoping to learn skydiving one of these days. She's outgoing and friendly and hopes that those traits will one day help her in the field of psychology. I'm sure most guys would be all to happy to be analyzed by such a beauty. You can read more about Jamie in the files section of the webgroup (registration required) and check out her breathtaking photos at FCI's official site.

Bandettes to Host Jr. Camp

The Buffalo Bandettes will be holding a three-hour clinic for girls between the ages of 7-17, focusing instruction on cheer/dance, technique, and beginner stunts. The event takes place on April 7, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at HSBC Arena. Girls do not have to try out, or have prior experience, but space is limited, so sign up now.
The fee for the clinic is $40.00 and everyone in attendance receives an "I survived Bandette Dance Camp" T-Shirt, lunch, along with the instruction from the Bandettes. There is also an autograph and photograph session with the squad.

Laura's First Cheering Stint Is With Jills

Having never been a cheerleader before, Ellington resident Laura F. decided that at the age of 33 there was no better time than the present to start.

After six months of training, she is now one of the newest members of the Buffalo Jills cheerleading squad.

‘‘It was on my list of things to do and I figured that this year would be one of my last opportunities,’’ Francese said. ‘‘When I initially started training in October, my goal was to just tryout.’’

Bandette Profiles Beth

Beth, who is in her second year as a Bandette, loves to travel. She's already been to China twice, as well as Hawaii. If she could do anything, she would try to see more of the world.

She was actually on vacation in Hawaii when she got amazing news last summer. Her fiance had proposed to her and she had learned that she was the Bandette rookie of the year for last season all in the same week.

Mammoth game pics

After a month on the road, the Bandits returned home to face off against the team that beat them in the 2006 Title game, the Colorado Mammoth. Old grudges came to the surface as the score remained close until the near end when the Bandits exacted a small measure of revenge with a 19-15 win.

Alse returning to action at HSBC Arena was the NLL's premier dance team, the Bandettes. The month off showed no signs of rust and it even allowed former Jills and 2nd year Bandettes vet Amanda F to get back in action after being out the last few games with a broken wrist (and who says cheerleading isn't a tough gig?)

The Bandettes also had an extra treat for their fans...the squad posters became available before the game and the Bandits opened the gates early to allow autograph time.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Katie K

She sports a smile bright enough to illuminate a black hole and could one day coordinate your wedding if you're lucky. Katie K was in her 2nd season on the sidelines at Ralph Wilson Stadium in 2006 and is 1 of 8 Jills known by the servicemen serving in Iraq as the Phantom Angels. Anyone who's had the pleasure of meeting her may find this hard to believe, but she used to consider herself to be rather shy. Cheering for 4 years in high school and 2 in the pros has certainly brought her out of her shell. You can read more about Katie in the files section of the webgroup (registration required) and check out her in sizzling swimwear at FCI's official site

Bandettes appearances coming up

First off is obviously Saturday night's game. After a month away from home, the Bandits play host to the team that knocked them off in the Title game last year...the Colorado Mammoth. But before the game, the Bandettes posters are available and the girls will be signing them for the fans when they come in. More details will be sorted out gameday but last year, they were signing at the top of the one set of escalators and...gates opened up at 6. Odds are that's the case again this season...as they need to be back in getting ready for the game by 7. So if you're looking for a poster, show up no later than 6:45-6:50.

Also, on Sunday at 2pm, Sweet Home High School in Amherst (the alma mater of Baby Joe Mesi, Brian McKnight, and Vincent Gallo) will be hosting a screening of Keeper of the Kohn in association with WNY Lacrosse for Kids ...a charity that aims to provide financial help to active lacrosse players, coaches and referees in WNY who are dealing with serious illness or injury. They also work to promote the sport of lacrosse in the area through camps and other activities. Some of the Bandettes will be on hand for this event. Tickets are available at the door for $10 and the proceeds go to the charity.

Bandette Profiles: Erica

First year Bandette, Erica started out as a fan of the Bandits, as she had season tickets with her family. So becoming a Bandette was the perfect way for her to mix her love of dance and her love of lacrosse.
Her love for dance goes back to the age of three where her mother wanted to put her in something that she might have liked. She's been dancing on and off ever since.

It's a 3-minute video shot on Day 1 that includes an short overview of the process by Stephanie and Nichole and some quick interviews with veterans Christina, Valerie, and Jessica Z as well as a few rookie hopefuls.

Cheering ‘em on

Jenica K says she’s just a normal person. She recently discovered just how much a “normal person” can make a difference in someone’s life.

She traveled with some fellow Buffalo Jills cheerleaders to Iraq to entertain troops.

“When we went there and saw the troops, they looked at us and kept saying, ‘Thank you so much. You have no idea how much this means to us,’” she said.

Bandette Profiles Amanda

Amanda, a rookie Bandette, actually found out about the squad through a friend that was already on the team. The learning experience that she has gained so far this season has been amazing for the underwriter at an insurance company.

The best part about being on the team is just getting to perform in front of a huge crowd and work with other talented girls to create an end product.

Buffalo Jills take show on the road

With a record of seven wins and nine losses, the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills didn’t make it to the playoffs this past year. For the players, next season can’t come soon enough. But for their cheerleaders, the Buffalo Jills, there is no off-season.

Eight members of the Buffalo Jills cheerleading squad recently performed in front of a packed house here at the base auditorium.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Jessica D

This blonde bombshell was in her rookie year as a member of the Buffalo Jills Ambassador Squad. She considers herself a fan of all kinds of music but especially loves a local band who made it big..the Goo Goo Dolls! Like a lot of girls, she most admires her parents and the feeling seems to be mutual. Her mother is very devoted to her and couldn't be more proud of how she's turned out. You can read more about Jessica in the files section of the webgroup (registration required) and check out her sizzling swimsuit photos taken by FCI at http://www.fishercreativeimage.com/Jills/individual.html#jessica

Coming Home...Jills in Iraq

This was our last day of our tour and we finished it in Kuwait at Arifjan. Stefanie got her bag back so we were able to perform our show 100% as we did before it was lost. The Col. of that base held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of their new stage.

Bandette Profiles: Jenna

After attending college in Knoxville, Tennessee, second year Bandette Jenna came back to western New York, looking for a way to keep her passion for dancing alive. Hearing about the Bandettes, the now University of Buffalo graduate tried out and made the squad.
Jenna spends all of her waking time either studying to become an elementary education teacher or dancing. If she's not dancing herself, then she teaches others how to dance at her mom's dance studio.

Jills in Iraq March 2, 2007

Wait till all of you see the pictures we took today! I have one word for all of you "RAMBO"! When we got to our second base we did our usual meet and greet and then they asked the question we were all waiting for. "Would you like to shoot a M4 and 240 machine gun?"!

2007 Open Workshop

Saturday saw a large group of lovely young ladies converge on Niagara Falls in an attempt to make the 2007 Buffalo Jills. With choreographer Kelli and captain Jamie R in Iraq with 7 other vets, it was up to captains Aimee and Omarlla to demonstrate the routine to all thehopefuls and as evidenced by the fact that so many seemed to catch onquickly, they did a great job at it. A pair of former Jills may make a return while a number of vets seem to have decided to retire (although there's still time left to change their minds). Here are some pics of familiar faces and also attached is a link with some short video clips of the girls learning their routine
http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/buffalojills2005/2007/Open%20Workshop/Gives a good look at how quickly they are learning. To anyone trying out who is reading this...the album will be still up after tryouts are over so don't waste too much time looking right now...concentrate on your tryouts...and good luck.

A few tidbits from the Open Workshop

Here's a few things to look forward to from the 2007-2008 Buffalo Jills. The swimsuit calendar this year...will be an advertisement for theBahamas. Should be a fun trip for all those girls who are going...the squad was there a few years ago as seen on the 2004 Jills DVD
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0869015/
http://www.jillsondvd.com/
Golfers...set aside August 13th...more details will come later.
A number of events are in the planning stages...Congratulatory party,Swimsuit Calendar Release party, and Comedy Show
Aimee, Omarlla, Jamie R, and Kelly are returning captains
Also, there were a number of missing vets...some chose not to return (it happens)...some are in Iraq, obviously...some may have had other commitments and will have to learn the routine at Tuesday's optional workshop.
Speaking of which, to any prospective Jills that are reading this message, if you missed Stephanie or any of the captains telling you this (or forgot...since I'm sure there was a lot for you to take in today)...the workshop starts at 7pm on Tuesday...not at 6:30 as originally advertised. It wouldn't hurt to show up at 6:30,though...but you won't be considered late if you can't.

Day 9 of the Jills in Iraq

We woke up this morning and started our day off with a real quick 2minute tour of Saddam's palace. Our flight was bumped up so we ran in and took some quick pictures and then went right to the helicopter. When we got to where we needed to be the flight was then delayed a little bit. http://www.97rock.com/jillsiniraq.html

'Buffalo Jills' visit Troops in Baqubah

Most Soldiers stationed in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08 don't wake up to cheerleaders, but that's exactly what happened to the Soldiers stationed on Forward Operating Base Warhorse, Feb. 25.The National Football League's Buffalo Bills' cheerleaders, the Buffalo Jills, arrived, via helicopter, in the morning to greet the anxious crowd of Soldiers stationed on Warhorse.

Day 8 of the Jills in Iraq

February 28th
The day started off at 6:00am for us. Today we stopped at two bases that really don't get to see anyone, Falcon and Rustamiyah. We went to Falcon first for a meet and greet and after that we had a really fun and crazy helicopter ride to Rustamiyah. Rustamiyah has a high threat level, we were a little scared but we were very safe and nothing happened.
