Making the Squad-1st Cut

Lydia's series on 2009 Jills tryouts has posted another webisode on the tryout process. This week's edition covers Ambassador Squad 1st cuts. It includes interviews with captains Keisha and Danielle talking about what they're looking for in a Buffalo Jills Ambassador. Lydia also spends some time interviewing 2009 rookies Alyssa and Katy as well as some potentials who will hopefully try again next year. Check it out at http://www.cw23.com/dpp/cw23_girl/wildcard_08/making_the_squad_4
Also, just a few things to remind everyone about. The Taste of Buffalo is this weekend in downtown Buffalo. One of Buffalo's signature events, it features food and drink from 60 restaurants and 6 wineries from Western NY and appearances by the Buffalo Jills. Be sure to bring your camera and an appetite as the Jills will be posing for photos, signing autographs, and handing out Bills schedules while you're trying out all the different foods from the region.
If you haven't put in your vacation time for July 20th, time is growing short as the Jills 7th Annual Golf Tournament takes place that day at Fox Valley Country Club. Get all the details at http://buffalojills.net/appearances/details.php?recordID=9
Finally, if you or your daughter is looking for a chance to learn cheerleading from the professionals, the Jills are holding a clinic on the 7th at Niagara County Community College from 6-8pm. The clinic will give everyone a taste of what to expect at Cheer Elite Camp 2009, to be held July 19th-23rd. Get all the details on the clinic at http://buffalojills.net/appearances/details.php?recordID=28 and on Cheer Elite Camp 2009 at http://buffalojills.net/appearances/details.php?recordID=7

Buffalo Jill of The Week Jill D

This week, we take a look at one of the Jills' newest co-captains as our Jill of The Week. Jill D was named co-captain for her 3rd season on the squad and spent last season dancing on Nicole's line between Kristina and Anna. She considers herself to be silly but for the most part, her strongest quality seems to be how down to earth she is. She definitely has a silly side to her, though. She'll joke with her closest friend on the squad, Ayeshia, that she's getting darker and Ayeshia is getting lighter-skinned. She'll make goofy faces for the camera, though not while in uniform, and she even takes the "Jill the Jill" joke she hears almost daily in stride. But her silly side isn't what got her named co-captain for 2009. She also can come across as pretty mature for her age at times and has 13 years of dance training under her belt, including 7 years in competition and even spent another 2 years near the Nation's Capital studying dance at George Mason University. Buffalo Jill of The Week Dana

This week, we take a look at the last of the 2008 early departures in the form of blonde beauty Dana. 2008 was her first year on the squad and while she didn't choose to come back for 2009, we're definitely hoping she thinks about coming back in 2010. Of course maybe it made sense for her to take this year off as her favorite food happens to be popcorn, and she can't very well have her "popcorn ready" watching Bills WR Terrell Owens from the sidelines when she's supposed to be dancing. Dana was the first of last year's rookies to introduce herself as she showed up to the Open Workshop with returning vets Stephanie Bu and Jess. Dana is one of those girls that can always be seen with a captivating smile on her face and is extremely generous and caring when it comes to her friends. The one thing she said she'd change about herself is to be less shy and more out-going. Well, if she was ever shy and introverted, she's covered it up well as shy is one of the last words I'd use to describe her. Check the files section of the webgroup for a copy of her Jills bio to learn more about Dana.

Vote for Amanda!

This season, NLL.com ran their Girl of The Week feature a little differently than in years past. It used to be that they would just choose 1 girl from each squad each year and leave it at that. This year, they're leaving it up to the fans. They choose a girl from 3 different squads and let the fans vote for which one they want to see featured as NLL.com's Girl of The Week. However, by doing that, there's always the chance that some squad may not get any features depending on how the voting goes...so the NLL is still doing this during the offseason. During the season, Meghan and Kirsten each got selected. Now it's time for another member of the squad to get the honor. 2nd year vet Amanda is up for the honor against a girl from the Blazers and one from the Rock. Let's all do our part to ensure Amanda gets the honor she deserves. All you have to do is go to http://www.nll.com/ and scroll down to the tab that says Girl Of The Week. Just click on that tab and submit a vote for Amanda.
