The Jills at the Bills-Steelers Kids' Day game

One of the largest part of being a Buffalo Jill is the Jr Jills organization, in which the Jills work with over a hundred girls ages 7-17 to let them experience what it's like to perform in front of thousands of Bills fans. The Jr Jills' performance with the Jills takes place in pregame of a preseason game geared towards children with concession stand specials, ticket discounts for children, and a small festival in Lot C prior to the game for the children. After the Jills put on their normal pregame performance, they brought out the Jr Jills who joined them for a second performance.

Jr Jills dates announced and application available

Right now, everything concerning the NFL season is up in the air until the lockout is resolved. However, a lot of aspects of the NFL can't wait until the lockout is over to get things in gear. There are a lot of things that take a few months to get ready and first and foremost among those are the cheerleaders. The Jills selected their 2011-2012 squad a few weeks ago and practices are already underway twice a week for the dancers. One of the biggest things the Jills are involved in every year is their Jr Jills program and they now have their practice dates set to get ready for the Kid's Day preseason game on August 27th.
Key Dates:
  • June 21 or June 23 Uniform Fitting at Fieldhouse either day 7-9pm
  • June 24 Registration due
  • Sat & Sun August 6th and 7th 9am-noon practice at the Fieldhouse
  • Sat & Sun August 20th and 21st 9am-noon practice at the Fieldhouse
  • Saturday August 27th Kid's Day game performance

Toronto Jr Jills and another calendar video from 97Rock

Instead of having a Jr Jills performance at the preseason game in Toronto, the Jills went a different route and had the Toronto Argonauts cheerleaders join them in a somewhat similar fashion to the combined performance the Jills and Titans cheerleaders put on in Canton last summer. They haven't forgotten about the youth in Toronto, though. The Bills in Toronto series features the Bears on November 7th and the Jills are inviting young ladies in the Toronto area ages 7-17 the chance to perform as Jr Jills for that game. Registration is due by October 18th and mandatory practice dates are November 4th and 5th at the Rogers Centre from 6-9pm both evenings. Get all the details as well as registration form at http://buffalojills.net/Article.asp?id=1867404&spid=34534
Also, from 97Rock comes another video promoting the just-released Buffalo Jills Calendar, which you can now order online at http://www.buffalojills.com//Article.asp?id=1968982 This one doesn't feature Rob Lederman professing his love for all the Jills as he leafs through the calendar, though. Instead, 2nd year dancer Gabrielle gives the viewers a look inside the calendar. Check it out at http://www.97rock.com/video.asp?vxSiteId=a8efb803-28f5-452a-ae02-9bd81b149a81&vxChannel=WGRF%2DFM%20Originals&vxClipId=2381_1060509&vxBitrate=300

Toronto Jr Jills

While the Bills are playing a few games up in Toronto (only 5 more over the next 3 years), the Jills are a small part of the experience up there. In 2010 and 2012, the Bills, like in 2008, are playing a preseason game at the Rogers Centre in addition to the regular season game. This year's home preseason game is the Kid's Day game on August 28th at the Ralph. A big part of that Kid's Day game is the Jr Jills, who perform with the Jills in pregame. Registration is closed for the Jr Jills program this year with uniform fittings complete and mandatory workshops starting up this weekend.

However, the Jills are expanding the Jr Jills program this season to include the Toronto game so that other young ladies can get involved. Workshops are August 16 and 17 from 7-9pm at the Rogers Centre with the game on the 19th. Registration and payment are due by August 2nd for the program and you can get full details at http://buffalojills.net/Article.asp?id=1865591&spid=34534

The Buffalo Jills at the West Valley-Ellicottville Alumni Game

In addition to games and events, the Buffalo Jills are frequently called upon to do appearances at many other events throughout Western NY. On Saturday afternoon, the alumni of West Valley and Ellicottville Central Schools got together for a football game to raise funds for the youth football programs in both communities. To help with that effort, Lindsay and Jessica of the Buffalo Jills were on hand to sell programs and raffle tickets as well as pose for pictures and sign autographs for the fans.

The Jills are available for plenty of appearances like this and more. Just go to http://buffalojills.net/Article.asp?id=1676065 for all the info. Additionally, if you want extra publicity for any event that you have the Jills at, just contact us here at the Buffalo Pro Cheer Blog and after the info has been verified, we'll pass it along to the fans.

Coming up Friday, there will be some Jills on hand for the 2nd Annual BBQ and Blues Bash on Mississippi Street in Buffalo. Get all the details on the event benefiting the Gateway-Longview child and family service organization at http://www.bbqbluesbash.com/

Additionally, one of the people the girls spoke to inquired about programs for younger cheerleaders to learn from the pros. There are a few different programs the Jills are involved in in that regard. First up is the NCCC Cheerleading Camp taking place from July 11-15 with instruction from members of the Buffalo Jills on not only dance, but manners and etiquette as well. Camp fees are due by July 1. Check out the details at http://buffalojills.net/Article.asp?id=1780371&spid=34534

The Junior Jills program is coming up even sooner with the uniform fitting dates of June 15 and 17. The Jills will be working with the Jr Jills on 2 weekends getting them ready to perform at the Bengals-Bills preseason game on August 28th at Ralph Wilson Stadium as part of the Kid's Day festivities. Photos and videos from the Jills' Open Practice

NFL Cheerleaders didn't just start out in the pro ranks. Most pro cheerleaders don't even wait until high school to start cheering and start out in grade school. To reach out to the young cheerleaders in Western NY, the Jills staged their 1st Open Practice on Tuesday night and the event was a bigger success than most expected. Well over 100 young girls came to the Buffalo Bills Fieldhouse to learn from the pros along with their parents and, in some cases, their coaches as one squad even sent a busload of their cheerleaders to learn from the Jills.
After check-in, the Jills led their young charges through some stretching exercises before splitting off into groups around the Fieldhouse where 2-4 members of the dance squad worked closely with groups of girls to teach them a cheer. While this was all going on, the Jills Ambassadors walked around to sell raffle tickets and talk to parents about the Jr Jills program and about what they wanted their children to get out of the experience.
After training with the Jills dancers, it was time to perform and each group performed with their squad leaders before a large cheer with all of the young cheerleaders. But that wasn't it as the Jills had a special treat for their young charges as they put on a performance to show off a lot of what they do on gamedays in pregame and at the 3rd intermission of the game. The session finished off with photographs and autographs for the kids before the Jills finished off their night with their customary closed-door practice.
The Jills next take the field when the Bills host the Browns on October 11th but they'll be plenty busy before then. They'll be introducing a new exercise class at Gold's Gym in Williamsville Friday night and then again in Lancaster Saturday morning. And with the Bills on the road, you can meet some of the Jills at the Aud Sports Bar in Depew or at Sole Restaurant in Williamsville as you watch the Bills Squish The Fish! But if you're going to the game in Miami, don't forget to stop at Shooter's in Fort Lauderdale the night before the game for the annual Buffalo Invasion Party. This year's event even includes a large contingent of Buffalo Jills there to sign autographs and pose for photos. Get all the info on these and other Jills appearances at http://buffalojills.net/appearances/index.php and stay tuned to the Buffalo Pro Cheer Blog for more coverage on the First Ladies of Buffalo!

Buffalo Pro Cheer Photos of The Week!

Continuing our look at the beautiful rookies who will be gracing the sidelines at Ralph Wilson Stadium this fall, we have a photo from the recent Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio.
In a photo taken midway through the 4th quarter, we have dancers Caity and Joya. I apologize because I can't give you much insight into these two young ladies as of yet but you'll be able to see them performing on Eileen's line starting Saturday night at the Kid's Day preseason game. Just a reminder, Lot C is the place to be from 3:30-6:30 as the Jills Ambassador Squad will be there (until about 6pm, anyway) for the Kid's Day festivities. There's also a special being filmed in that lot for the Food Network on tailgating featuring a team from Chicago and, representing Buffalo, the famed Pinto Ron.

With the Jr Jills joining the Buffalo Jills on the field this weekend, we have a photo from our other squad and their Jr squad, the Jr Bandettes at the Bandits-Titans game earlier this year. Here we see Alexis looking extra excited to get on the floor while the Bandettes and Jr Bandettes get set for their pregame performance.
The Jr Jill and Jr Bandette programs that the squads run do a great service for Buffalo's young women by giving those who are interested in dancing or cheerleading a head start by learning from the pros. Neither squad has cuts so everyone gets a chance to learn and the Jills and Bandettes each try to give the younger generation as much personal attention as possible so that everyone learns.

Kids Day, Jr Jills, a former Jill in DC, and more tryout photos

First off, with 2 home preseason games, the Bills had a choice of dates to use as their annual Kid's Day game. This year, the Kid's Day game will be held on Saturday, August 15th, the Bills' matchup against Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears. While more details on Kid's Day will be released at a later date by the Bills, in past years the Kid's Day festivities included a big interactive area set up outside the stadium with a lot of the features that are normally inside the Fieldhouse on gamedays. As a part of that, the Jills Ambassador Squad will be on hand to sign autographs before the game. There will also be a big pregame performance featuring the Jills dancers with the Jr Jills that night as well.
Regarding the Jr Jills, it's for girls ages 7-17 and the program costs $275 apiece with a $50 discount for each additional sibling. Uniform fittings are in June and the workshops will be held on consecutive weekends at the end of July. Get more details at http://buffalojills.net/appearances/details.php?recordID=23 and at http://buffalojills.net/junior_jills/index.php
The Washington Redskins cheerleaders were also a part of their team's draft festivities this past weekend and there's a familiar face in their midst. After some time spent with the Baltimore Ravens cheerleaders, Sarita (2004 Jills) has joined up with the Redskins cheerleaders in 2009. James from Ultimate Cheerleaders.com was on hand for the event http://www.ultimatecheerleaders.com/posts/3923 and sends us these photos of our former Buffalo Jill. http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=01011309fb6e824c7069484bded33bcd527e086936758802
Finally, 97Rock has another album of photos up from the 1st round of Jills tryouts that were held at the Town Ballroom. Check it out at http://www.97rock.com/Article.asp?id=1285509&spid=21992

Fifth consecutive kids day game sold out

The Bills have announced that the Bills-Lions game this Thursday at Ralph Wilson Stadium is sold out and will be televised locally. The game will air live Thursday, August 28 at 6:30 pm on WKBW-TV in Buffalo, WHAM-TV in Rochester, City TV in Toronto, WTVH-TV in Syracuse and WSEE-TV in Erie.
This marks the fifth consecutive sellout for the Bills’ annual Kids Day game.
The first 10,000 kids 14-and-under will receive an official NFL Rush Snuggie Toy. Prior to the game, the Bills will host Kids Day activities in Lot C in front of Ralph Wilson Stadium from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. The free event will feature an interactive games area, a Buffalo Zoo exhibit, souvenir photo opportunities, vendor giveaways, a Navy Band playing live music, a chalk artist display, Jills cheerleaders, plus ice cream and other food/drink samples. At halftime, a Niagara Youth Football League Pee Wee scrimmage will take place and the Buffalo Junior Jills cheerleading squad will perform.
http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?NEWS_ID=6450

Just a heads up for all who are going on Thursday where to expect the Jills for pregame (I would expect that Kelly, Danielle, and the rest of the Ambassador Squad will be leaving those festivities around 5:30 or so to make sure they are ready for the game itself which kicks off at 6:30) and to let everyone know to stay in their seats at halftime for the Jills and the Jr. Jills performance.
