The recent Bills game in Toronto is one I was forced to miss because of the Thursday date (not enough vacation time) and one I had to get a few friends to take photos at for me. We already saw the ones from http://www.billsinsider.com/ at http://buffaloprocheer.blogspot.com/2008/08/bills-vs-steelers-in-toronto.html and now we have a set taken by Mike Thomas, the staff photographer at http://www.billszone.com/.

Buffalo Jill of The Week Anna
This year's inaugural Jill of The Week is none other than rookie Anna. She was actually the first Jills rookie to make her presence known after making the squad thanks to an article in the St. Catherines Standard published in mid-April this year. Anna's been wanting to be an NFL Cheerleader since the age of 15 but the team she grew up rooting for doesn't have cheerleaders. Besides that, driving from Ontario (she's one of two Canadians on the 2008-09 squad) to Pittsburgh to cheer on the Steelers would be a tough and expensive trip for this 18-year old. Luckily, she has a soft spot for the Bills as well and who knows? Maybe after some time with the Jills, the Bills will surpass the Steelers as her top team. Regardless, Annastasia will be a welcome addition to the Jills this fall with not only her beauty but her experience. Besides dancing since the age of 2 1/2, she spent some time with Niagara Allstars Cheerleading, including the competitive Niagara Ladykats. You can check out her official Jills bio at http://buffalojills.net/bios/anna.html and see this future attorney dance all season long on Nicole's line between Nicole and Jill D.
Bills-Lions preseason game pics
In the final game of the NFL preseason, coaches generally don't play their starters much at all and instead focus on playing the players who are "on the bubble" and fighting for a spot on the team. Bills coach Dick Jauron went to extremes in Thursday night's Kid's Day preseason game against the Detroit Lions when the only starter who played was FS Ko Simpson. At RB, the top 2 players, Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson sat out while starting QB Trent Edwards and backup J.P. Losman's only action came late in the game when Losman went in for a shaken up 3rd string Gibran Hamden. The result was a generally sloppy game which did little to please the Ralph Wilson Stadium faithful who, during the game, were on record for 56,011 season tickets sold, the 2nd highest total in team history.
While the product on the field was rather poorly played, the product on the sidelines was anything but as the 48-member Buffalo Jills squad put on a spectacular show from beginning to end. Members of the Ambassador Squad dealt with long lines of autograph seekers prior to the game in Lot C while the dancers worked with the Jr. Jills one last time before bringing them onto the field with them for the pregame performance. After the pregame performance, the beautiful Jills kept the crowd interested when the game couldn't with their dance moves. The rookie Jills meshed so well with their veteran counterparts that unless you actually knew who the rookies were, you couldn't tell them apart from the vets as far as their dance skills. Here are a few, as in quite a, pictures from the evening.

Fifth consecutive kids day game sold out
The Bills have announced that the Bills-Lions game this Thursday at Ralph Wilson Stadium is sold out and will be televised locally. The game will air live Thursday, August 28 at 6:30 pm on WKBW-TV in Buffalo, WHAM-TV in Rochester, City TV in Toronto, WTVH-TV in Syracuse and WSEE-TV in Erie.
This marks the fifth consecutive sellout for the Bills’ annual Kids Day game.
The first 10,000 kids 14-and-under will receive an official NFL Rush Snuggie Toy. Prior to the game, the Bills will host Kids Day activities in Lot C in front of Ralph Wilson Stadium from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. The free event will feature an interactive games area, a Buffalo Zoo exhibit, souvenir photo opportunities, vendor giveaways, a Navy Band playing live music, a chalk artist display, Jills cheerleaders, plus ice cream and other food/drink samples. At halftime, a Niagara Youth Football League Pee Wee scrimmage will take place and the Buffalo Junior Jills cheerleading squad will perform.
http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?NEWS_ID=6450
Just a heads up for all who are going on Thursday where to expect the Jills for pregame (I would expect that Kelly, Danielle, and the rest of the Ambassador Squad will be leaving those festivities around 5:30 or so to make sure they are ready for the game itself which kicks off at 6:30) and to let everyone know to stay in their seats at halftime for the Jills and the Jr. Jills performance.

World's Largest Disco tickets available soon
The World’s Largest Disco has turned into one of Buffalo’s signature events, a highly anticipated annual party of leisure suits, platform shoes and groovy dance moves.
The disco gets more popular all the time, selling out earlier and earlier each year, and organizers have built up a lengthy mailing list of loyal ticket buyers. Roughly 7,000 attended last year.
The disco gets more popular all the time, selling out earlier and earlier each year, and organizers have built up a lengthy mailing list of loyal ticket buyers. Roughly 7,000 attended last year.
The event takes place on November 29th this year at the Buffalo Convention Center and tickets go on sale tomorrow to anyone with a password (mailed through the Disco E-Newsletter).
Tickets go on sale (if there are any remaining) to the general public on September 6th. There was a rather considerable increase in the price this year, however, at least if you plan to get them early. Tickets are $50 apiece on Sunday, and drop by $5 each of the next few days until they land at $35.
Now, obviously there's a reason we're posting this news on the Buffalo Pro Cheer Blog and that reason is the Bandettes. The World's Largest Disco is typically the first public appearance and dance performance of the Buffalo Bandettes. The squad will be selected sometime in the next few months (we'll keep you posted on tryout dates as soon as they become available) and the girls will immediately begin work not only on their game routines but on some dance routines for the disco as well. So if you can make it, come on out and support the Buffalo Bandettes as they get set to cheer on the defending NLL Champion Buffalo Bandits!!

Buffalo Jills and Bandettes Pictures of The Week
This will be the final edition of the Pictures of The Week for the 2008 offseason as we start up the Jill of The Week feature next week with pictures and info of the 48 members of the 2008-09 Buffalo Jills. This week's Jills photo comes direct from Jills Director Stephanie M and features the women who guide the Jills through their training, their responsibilities, and on gamedays.
On the left, we have the Jills choreographer Kelli Wagner. Kelli took her current job with the Jills in 2002 and does more than turn heads at the Ralph on gamedays. She has successfully grown the Junior Jills organization into a coveted program for youth in Western New York and it’s surrounding areas. Kelli’s choreography has also been featured on Fox TV, ABC-Buffalo, several Buffalo radio station events, many community events, overseas military shows, as well as HSBC Arena-Buffalo. Kelli is the three time recipient of America’s Young Choreographer of the Year and has received numerous choreography and high score awards. In the middle is Jills Director Stephanie Mateczun and Steph spent a number of years on the sideline herself before taking the reins as Jills Director in 2002. Since then, the Jills have added on the Ambassador Squad, gotten more national positive recognition, many more appearance requests, and the Jills Swimsuit Calendar now includes every member of the squad. Other squads, even with their smaller numbers, only include a part of the squad on their calendars. Nichole Becker, on the right, is in her 3rd season as the coordinator after cheering through the 2000-2005 seasons, along with rookie squadmates Omarlla and Eileen. It was a new position created because of all the extra work that goes into the squad the past several years. Nichole was actually already performing some of the duties of coordinator her last few seasons as captain but the increased popularity and exposure of the squad caused the position of coordinator to become a full-time one.
From the Bandettes, we have a pic taken near the end of the 3rd quarter of the first game against the Minnesota Swarm. Incidentally, home games against the Swarm will be fewer and farther between as the NLL recently announced that Minnesota would be moving to the NLL's West Division. But I digress. This picture, taken just before the squad went out on the floor for their 3rd intermission routine, features Bandettes co-captains Melissa and Meghan with rookie Justina smiling for the camera. The smiles may have been from the way the game was going. After falling behind 9-6 at the half, the Bandits poured on 5 goals to none in the 3rd to hold an 11-9 lead at the time this picture was taken.
Continuing our look into the past at the Buffalo Bombshells, we see current Buffalo Bandette Korinne in a pic from the 2002 AFL season.

The 2008-09 Buffalo Pro Cheer Blog Jill of The Week Schedule
As everyone knows, or should know anyway, this site was created to promote and recognize the beautiful women who make up the professional cheerleading squads in Buffalo, NY. But beyond recognizing the ladies as groups, we try to do a little more and have, for the past several years, given each girl a week where she gets to shine on her own as well as with her squadmates. In the case of the Jills, we call that the Jill of The Week feature. For anyone unaware of what that entails, it's simple. sometime between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning of her week, the Jill of The Week will have a solo shot, a few words about her (sorry guys, no phone numbers or anything too personal to be shared...lol), a link to her official bio on the Jills website(when they're available), and another photo with squadmates all on the front page of the site and left up there for that entire week. A post will be sent out as well as notification. The photos, especially the solo shot, will be pre-approved by the Jill of The Week whenever possible, so as to portray her in the positive light that she deserves. After all, this site is for the Jills just as much as it's for the fans and what girl would want a photo she doesn't like placed online?
The Jill of The Week schedule is determined solely by the layout of the calendar. Through the first several months (September 08-July 09 this season), the girls featured that month on the calendar will be featured as Jill of The Week during that month. August 09-December 09 will be filtered into the schedule in the open weeks and the covergirl, Vincenza this year, gets the final week of the schedule.
So, without further ado,

The Buffalo Jills 2008-09 Swimsuit Calendar is out!!
A word of warning guys. When, not if, you get this new calendar, put it somewhere far away from anything flammable. It might not be a bad idea to get some kind of fire-proof glass case to display it in because quite frankly, the Jills and FCI Photography outdid themselves on this calendar. It goes beyond hot as it features 48 gorgeous young women in sexy swimwear in photos taken not only on a cruise through the Caribbean to locales like Grand Cayman Island as well as a lot of beautiful shots taken in Western New York. Featured in these shots are places like Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown, Green Lake in Orchard Park, Burchfield Park in West Seneca, Woodlawn Beach State Park, Harley-Davidson of Orchard Park, and Angola's prime hot spot, Captain Kidd's and Mickey Rat's Beach. Obviously you're wondering where to get these calendars and anyone can get them no matter where you are. At the games, you can stop in the Fieldhouse or by the 97Rock or 103.3 The Edge tailgate parties and purchase one (or more) from one of the stunning members of the Jills Ambassador Squad. If you know of a Jills appearance coming up, don't refrain from stopping by as you can pick one up from any of the Jills dancers or ambassadors in attendance. These two methods would definitely be the preferred way of getting one as the Jills not only get commission on each calendar they sell, but you can get them autographed on the spot by these beauties as well. Short of that, they'll also be available in the Bills store and if you're unable to make it there or to any Jills appearance, there's one other way to get them. Visit http://www.buffalojills.net/calendar.html for complete details on mail and phone orders. The calendars sell for $15 and shipping, if going the mail and phone order route, is an additional $2.50.
Quite honestly, I'd be stunned if these aren't practically sold out by mid-November because even I was blown away by the photos. Like the natural beauty of Niagara Falls that Western New Yorkers can take for granted, I'll admit that, at times, I can take the beauty of these young ladies for granted to an extent. I guess it's like when you have a close friend or even a sister who just happens to be breathtakingly beautiful. You know they're hot, but you know them for what kind of people they are as opposed to knowing them for their looks. Well, while my personal opinion of the type of people these girls are will never change nor will my professionalism, these shots really opened my eyes to how beautiful these girls are..something I have noticed but never thought much about. I'm not going to go into detail about every girl who blew me away with her photo because that would take forever. But the cover of this calendar really blew me away because Vincenza is someone I've always thought of as a cutie with a warm demeanor, sweet friendly smile, and a fun personality...cutie is a vast understatement.
Anyway, this isn't a post just to talk about the calendar but to announce a few pics taken at America's Fair in Hamburg, NY. Hey, if the Cowboys can call themselves "America's Team," then Erie County can label its fair as America's Fair. And considering this fair includes some appearances from time to time from the beautiful Buffalo Jills, I think its a fair name for it. On the next-to-last day of this year's fair, the 97Rock booth got some serious attention thanks to Dr. Amanda, Jill R, and Liz of the Buffalo Jills, who were up on top of the Frey Electric bus catching some rays in their bikinis as well as watching the fair-goers.
Coming up for the Jills is the Kid's Day preseason game on August 28th at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Kickoff is at 6:30 so the lots will be open at 1:30 and in addition to the expected Kid's Day festivities, we'll see the Jills bring the Jr. Jills on field for a performance as the Bills finish up the preseason against the Detroit Lions.
Also, don't forget that the fundraiser for the 2009 Jills Calendar trip takes place at SoHo on Chippewa September 27th at 9pm. Tickets are $20 each and cover all-you-can eat pizza, wings, beer, and wine til midnight. And the best part is the company...48 of the hottest women in the region.

Bills vs Steelers in Toronto
As many already know, the Bills are sending 8 of their home games to Toronto over the next 5 seasons in an effort to attract more premium seat holders from the Toronto market to come down to Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park. The first of these games was a preseason tilt against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night. The Bills came out on top in the matchup thanks to a pair of Edwards-to-Royal touchdowns and a 95-yard kickoff return by rookie CB Leodis McKelvin.
The Toronto experience, according to many diehard fans who made the trek, was rather lacking due to things like cost and the lack of a real football atmosphere. However, one aspect that wasn't lacking was the appearance of the Buffalo Jills. 48 young women make up the squad this year with 23 rookies joining 25 vets and fans were snapping photos of the First Ladies of Buffalo Wednesday night and Thursday before and during the game. I myself wasn't able to make the trek due mostly to a lack of enough vacation time but a friend of mine, the founder of BuffaloBillsInsider, was on hand and took a few pics of the beautiful Jills, including a pic before the game posing with Amelina, Dr. Amanda, Jackie, and Alecia.
Buffalo Jills and Bandettes Photos of The Week
This week, our first Jills photo comes to us from this past April's Congratulatory Party, held at Club Paradise in Blasdell. Club Paradise will also be the site of the Swimsuit Calendar Release Party on October 25th so if you haven't already marked it on your calendars, don't hesitate to do so. In this first shot, we see Tiffany, Jenica, and Jessica L posing for a quick photo. Tiffany is a very engaging girl when it comes to conversation, very friendly and easy to talk to. Jenica is coming off a season in which she was the swimsuit calendar covergirl and also mugged for the camera from the sidelines more than anyone save the departed Amanda P. Jessica, known as Jess to her friends, is always sporting a bright smile and if you're thinking of throwing her off guard with a blonde joke or two, forget it. She's heard them all and has plenty of her own to tell as well. But she's known more for her fun personality than her natural blonde hair.
The second Jills photo comes from the first (annual?) Buffalo Men's Show held at the Agri-Center at the fairgrounds in Hamburg this past May. This was an event that celebrated men with sports stars, electronics toys like big screen TVs and game systems as well as snowmobiles, ATVs, and even replicas of KITT and the General Lee. The best part, though, was the gorgeous women including a Playboy Playmate, the CW23's Lydia, and of course, the Buffalo Jills. In this shot we see Lonna, Omarlla, Valerie, Stephanie BR, and Amelina posing for a quick photo.
With the Bandettes, continuing our look at the NLL Championship Game, we see a shot taken during halftime while waiting for the Bandettes to take the field for their performance. While the other girls were going over dance moves or getting psyched up to get back on the field, some of the girls posed for a quick picture. Here we see Jessica, Ashley, and Justina. Prior to joining the Bandettes, Jessica was in the US Navy while Ashley's face is familiar to longtime Buffalo pro cheerleading fans as she spent the 2002-03 NFL season as a member if the Buffalo Jills. Justina's claim to fame is twofold. She once performed with the Pittsburgh Ballet Company and she's now the self-proclaimed good luck charm for the Bandits so we should see a few more NLL Titles the next few years as long as she sticks around.
And here's a little blast from the past from the archives. Here's Casey from the Bandettes circa 2002 in her days with the Buffalo Bombshells.

Buffalo Jills and Bandettes Photos of The Week
This week, both of our Jills photos come from the recent Buffalo Jills Golf Tournament where 44 of the 48 2008-09 Buffalo Jills were in attendance. The first pic, taken before the golfers started showing up, features a pair of our beautiful new rookies. As Buffalo Jills, the girls need to be smiling as much as possible while on the sidelines and Ashley, on the left, is constantly smiling as it is. Dana was showing us her smile before any of the rookies as she was one of the prospective Jills who we were introduced to at the Jills Open Workshop when she showed up with veterans Jess L and Stephanie Bu.
Our second shot, taken shortly before everyone went out on the course, features rookie Lynn and 2nd year vet Jill R. Lynn will be flashing us her smile all season long from Jamie and Eileen's line and anyone paying close attention to the pictures the last few years knows that Jamie has her line getting group shots quite frequently. Jill R spends her gamedays as a part of the Jills Ambassador Squad and we'll see her at tailgate parties with 97Rock and 103.3 The Edge as well as in the Fieldhouse before games as well as with Billy Buffalo during a game on occasion.
Our Bandettes photo this week is another one from the post-game party at Pearl Street Grill and Brewery following the Buffalo Bandits Championship win this past May. This picture features rookie Justina and 5th year vets Kimberly and Erin H. Justina is a girl who's gonna have to stick with the Bandettes for many years to come. She made a proclamation at the post-game party that she must be a good luck charm for the Bandits. Kimberly is one of the most popular of the Bandettes going by fan reactions on the NLL Message boards. They created 2 sigs dedicated to her and another one that featured her and 2 of her squadmates. Erin H has been a captain for 3 of her 5 seasons and showed off her crowd control abilities as the Mistress of Ceremonies for the pregame festivities prior to the East Finals of the NLL Playoffs this past May.
Fundraiser and Calendar Release Party announced!
Set aside the evenings of September 27th and October 25th for a pair of upcoming Buffalo Jills events!
First up is the Swimsuit Calendar Shoot Fundraiser on September 27th at SoHo, same place we held the last one back in March. It goes from 6pm to 9pm and the $20 ticket includes beer, wine, pizza, and wings. Tickets will be available soon and there are also raffle prizes to be won as well. All proceeds will go to help fund the May 2009 Swimsuit Calendar Shoot Trip.
On October 25th, Club Paradise is the place to be as the Jills hold their annual calendar release party from 9pm-? In addition to getting to meet all 48 members of the 2008-09 Buffalo Jills squad, you'll get to see them put on a bit of a fashion show as they model the swimwear from the soon-to-be-released calendar. And of course, what Jills event would be complete without a dance performance and a big production is being put together for that.

Former Buffalo Jill Turns Focus to Community
Wendy King received the 2008 Small Business Leader of the Year Award from the Coral Springs Chamber of Commerce for outstanding leadership in the community. The organization's mission is to enhance the marketability and profitability of members and to be the voice of business.
Through the Coral Springs Chamber of Commerce, King chairs Leadership Coral Springs, a seven-month program that offers a curriculum to develop community leaders. Members learn how the city operates, and King works with a day captain to organize tours of its various departments and facilities.
"It's almost like a backstage pass to the city, behind the scenes and learning the ins and outs," King said.

Buffalo Jills and Bandettes Photos of The Week
This week, our first photo comes from the recent Buffalo Jills Golf Tournament. This one was taken after dinner when raffle prizes were being given out. Shown posing for the camera are 3rd year vet and last year's calendar covergirl Jenica and rookie Alecia. Jenica was one of the "Phantom Angels" who went to Iraq and Kuwait about a year and a half ago while Alecia seems to be a very outgoing girl who, if she puts her mind to it, could end up being a pretty decent golfer.
Our second Jills pic was taken at the Jills Congratulatory Party held this past April at Club Paradise, also the home of the the Jills Swimsuit Calendar Release Party in September. Shown posing for the camera are Katie K, Amelina, and Omarlla. Katie is going into her 4th season on the squad and 2nd as co-captain. Amelina, the shortest member of the squad (a fact that thrills squadmate Angelina...last year's shortest) is an outstanding dancer who loves the attention of the camera, similar to Sarah of the Bandettes. Speaking of photography, Omarlla has been getting photographed for 9 seasons now. This fun-loving teacher is still learning something new with every experience as a Buffalo Jills captain and thankfully has no intention of quitting anytime soon.
This week's Bandettes photo comes from the post-game party at Pearl Street Grill and Brewery following the Bandits Championship win back in May. Going with the theme of girls who love the camera, Korinne has been dazzling us with that smile since 2001, as a Bombshell, a Bandette, a Jill, and now again as a Bandette. Sarah has been a Bandette since 2005 and if there's a game in which she doesn't strike a pose for the camera at least once, you have to think something's up...lol.
